That penultimate Hi-Fi Rush mission where this plays has to be one of the most uplifting and cathartic final levels in all of gaming. I love all of these characters so much, and this song playing during a level that showed how much they'd bonded together just hit me right in the feels 😢 Edit after 2 months: I HATE editing my comments because it just feels like it messes with the concise beauty of a short and sweet comment, but I'm going to do so anyways because this is a special occasion: Reading all of these replies and realising that the feelings of pure synaesthetic euphoria and climactic joy that this mission instilled in me were things that seemingly EVERY Hi-Fi Rush player who's beaten the game has felt, and not just my own personal bias for rhythm games/games with a heavy thematic link to music (games like Rez, Katamari Damacy and Rhythm Heaven) leading me to assume the mission had more gravitas and emotional power than it actually had, has been immensely reassuring and heartwarming to experience. I'm so glad so many people share the same level of adoration for this scene, and the game as a whole, as I do, and I thank you all for sharing your thoights!
Welcome Hi-Fi Rush players. If you liked this song, consider checking out some more stuff from their library like Austere and The Greatest Light Is the Greatest Shade, The Joy Formidable is an awesome band and I'm happy to see new people discovering them.
Finished the game on Hard mode last night. The whole stage was so hype I S ranked all encounters first try. This really is the best setpiece in the game.
Man both the prodigy song "invaders must die" and this one hit different in the game especially when they were also familiar song that you heard before and you also get a sense of nostalgia from them.
When this song played on Hi Fi Rush i just started crying, its just such a beautiful moment that i dont have many examples to compare in gaming, when you cry from pure joy and happiness from a epic moment
I'm one of those old Gen X dweebs from the 90's who love fuzzed out, huge sonic landscapes with big hooks and catchy vocals. This song makes me feel like I'm returning home. Long overdue, but well worth the wait.
Hearing this uplifting and feel-good track in Hi-Fi RUSH whilst you navigated the level with your team and just working together with such happiness and calmness was absolutely one of the most moving experiences I've had
Thank you, HiFi rush. Firstly, for presenting me lots of music masterpieces. Secondly for being such a wonderful game, your place in my heart is well kept
This is the kind of music that you dont listen to, you feel. Ritzy's voice fills your soul to the point where you feel empty when the song goes instrumental.. but then waves of pure audiogasm come crashing down on your head, moving your body from the subtle sway to a full on headbang. The Joy Formidable is a revelation and should be heralded as such.
yes this is a hi fi rush comment. i never heard of this band, or nine inch nails, or the prodigy beofre. i AM 17. but man. i think i found a new music addiction now.
Not hearing of NiN before is driving me for a loop. I'm not that much older than you and admittedly I don't know much by NiN but I'm definitely aware of their existence.
I got this today in hi Fi rush and I cried a bit over hearing this song in game for the first time. Words cannot describe the feelings I felt doing this part while singing the words with them. It was the one and only time I got an S on a level and I’m so happy that it was for this song.
This song made me realize that rock was back! I heard the local premiere of this song on my local new music station, and that guitar solo put me in a trance that I never felt for a long time! I was just taking a walk around my neighborhood during the song, and I must have looked like a complete idiot air drumming and air guitaring! It wasn't until the song ended that I realized that I just rocked out to a guitar solo in 2011!
It's rare, I think, to have a favorite song that STAYS your favorite song. 10 years later still the best song I've ever heard. (Only listen to it 4 or so times a years. Savor the greatness, the beauty, the magic).
Discovered this thanks to Hi-fi Rush, then I went to to the station while listening to this, my feet running to the beat of the music. I caught the train on time, then reached my friends and had an hell of a good day together. Feels like I'm living the dream.
I'm surprised this has only 3.2M views. I swear I heard that beginning riff on the radio many times before. What a great song, and thank you Hi Fi Rush for bringing me here
I get surprisingly sad when I listen to this song because of how impactful it was on my experience of HiFi Rush and how it signified nearing the end of that beautiful, beautiful game. Yesterday I found myself listening to this song while walking around in the grocery store and the little rickety shopping cart had a weird imbalance that coincidentally made one of the wheels tap in sync with this songs and I almost shed a tear. As corny as it sounds, there’s music and rhythm all around us, and we’re all rockstars
Ese momento donde vas a por un corporativo maligno mientras tus amigos te ayudan cada uno demostrando ser un aporte vital para el equipo. Eso es Hi Fi Rush ♥️
Jealous. I saw them support Muse 9 years ago and it was so sad to see thousands of people just talk through their set or just gormlessly stare, unmoving. I actually felt angry on their behalf
This song stopped me in my tracks 11 or 12 years ago, leading me on a search for the band and then all over NYC, PA, Boston and Chicago to see them LIVE everywhere I could. Made so many great friends and so many memories. So them again on Sunday 9/11 in NYC at Bowery Ballroom and it was truly a amazing. Love this band. :)
I just finished Hi-Fi rush and I’m so happy to see so many comments from people who felt the same way while this song was playing. That was one of the most amazing and emotionally satisfying experiences I’ve ever had in a game. I absolutely fell in love with this song! It’s been on repeat since this morning
After playing Hi-fi rush the cats in this video make me so happy. It's like this song that was recorded over a decade ago was made specifically for this game
Thank You Hi-Fi rush for introducing this band to me. Now it is my go to band to play in my car and also kinda inspired me to go back to playing music too. Maybe this time I’ll try bass cause Drums is loud for apartment use. :)
This much delight, fills columns to new heights All these things about me you never can tell Colors run prime, paint a picture so bright All these things about me you never can tell You make me sleep so badly invisible friend Turn the dial on my words I can feel they fall short Turn the dial, chime alarm, chime alarm Watch these hands move apart Turn the dial on my words I can see you staying here Fierce steps shadow, life's will gone shallow All these things about me you never can tell You make me sleep so badly, invisible friend You make me sleep so badly, invisible friend You make me sleep so badly, invisible friend Turn the dial on my words I can feel they fall short Turn the dial, chime alarm, chime alarm Watch these hands move apart Turn the dial on my words I can see you staying here
Why do I keep coming back? Is this the best music video ever? I've seen a lot of esoteric crazy videos and yet I keep coming back to this one. I think it might be.
Wow, guys! Not only your song is a part of a really great game, but it also is in the best part of that game. Congratulations! And also thank you. Gonna put it on repeat for a long long time.
I might be the one person who found HiFi Rush via this song, not the other way around lol. I was just here to revisit a band I had the luck of writing about before their big break, only to instead find out about a game it absolutely looks like I should be playing!
Hi Fi Rush and it's amazing soundtrack brought me here. I already knew the other bands, I grew up listening to Nine Inch Nails, Zwan (and of course Smashin Pumpkins) and the Prodigy but this song and that mission was such a perfect fit.
Heard this song for the first time on the radio today. Thought to myself, damn this is good. Imagine my surprise when I found out this song is 13 years old. Why this didn't get more air play I have no idea.
Hey guys, I get the Hifi rush stuff. But this song is seriously awesome on its own. I have no idea what Hifi rush is about and I don't care, I just appreciate amazing songs. So here we are. Thank you for this song.
Still play this in my car almost all the time. Glad they are still making music and I can still listen to my favorite songs by them. EXTREMELY underrated band. 👌🏽🤷🏽♂️😎👍🏽😁
Imagine getting a time machine, going back to the year 2009, telling the Joy Formidable after making Whirring that 14 years from now, your song will end up in a videogame developed by a Japanese studio which has only made games in the horror genre, bankrolled by 2 American companies, one which just released a new 3D entry in a RPG franchise they acquired from another company that went bankrupt in 2008 and a massive Washington-based conglomerate who is in the process of making a Wii rival for their flagship console and will acquire said company a good decade from now.
