It was ACTUALLY earned here. Wasn't just "hey we're friends now" You have chai, a self-absorbed loner who thinks he's owed the world, so meeting people that he can help care for, and vice versa, ACTUALLY makes it have weight!
It was fun! This game was just so fun! It could pull so many cliches like this one, but it just makes you smile on how silly it is, its excusable and just fun!
Came here after the news too. So sad we'll never get to see Chai become the rockstar he dreamed of, but he did deliver one of the best one hit wonders. 🥲
@@medoagamer9497yes! ❤ Maybe soon in the near future will see them again soon. But for now, let’s enjoy the memories while we have them. It’s been tubular friends!
If Chai is indeed a one-hit wonder, he was a damn good one and he'll always be a rockstar. Thank you Tango Gameworks for creating one of the best games I've ever played. Rock on guys.
So sad we'll never see more of this crew. Watching the shadow drop live and then playing it later that day will always be one of my favorite gaming memories. The pure creativity and ingenuity was a clean breathe of fresh air. While we may never see Chai become the rockstar he dreamed of, he certainly left us with a one hit wonder to remember. Rock on buddy. 🤘
this is the exact thing you would hear from a high school movie at the end the monologue would be something like ''as for zack, he become a auto mechanic, and for michael, he worked as scientist, who found some new energy suppement as from me, well i became a couch for a basket ball, team just like i said i would, soon we seperated, but well never forget what we did together''
Something I noticed with this song and The Beacon. The lyrics all involve breathing. The beacon's Lyrics at the start of the game involved being lost at sea and drowning While Surfacing, in it's very title, is about coming up the waters surface.
@@dragon1130 i'll have to listen to both songs a bit more but given the gimmick of everything in the game is "the world is on the beat" breathing (which is a rhythm) seems like the thing to make a theme out of
They're also thematically relevant to the points in the story they're used. The Beacon plays when Chai is running headfirst by himself into Project Armstrong completely ignorant of Vandelay's corruption, in a way being lost, like you said. Surfacing plays when he's formed a team that has learned about the company's sinister plans and have chosen to rise up against it. It may just be a standard Hero's Journey narrative underneath it all but its presented in such a genuine and stylish way not even Joseph Campbell could resist shedding tears of joy.
most of the original OST songs are positive inversions of the licensed music the licensed music is challenging Chai and the "streamer-mode music" (such a reductive name when every song is straight fire) is encouraging him to overcome whatever he's facing Rekka's songs is the best example of this, Free Radicals is just Rekka's egomaniacal tyrade against the idea of Chai's rebellion, Captive Normals is literally Chai telling Rekka and Vandalay as a whole to go eat rocks.
This is my favorite song in the game just for it's sheer beauty. It's like the game is saying thank you for making it this far, and reminding you how close to the end you are. It really want's you to appreciate all the things you and your friends have accomplished along the way, this is what true friend ship feels like. It just makes me feel all emotional inside, and I love it.
Played Hi Fi Rush after Tango Gameworks Closure, this song made me shed a few tears especially the set piece moments in this stage. The game will live Long in my memory and forever be engrained into my heart.
This really is the best level in the game, no matter if you have Streamer mode on or off. Reflection is such an amazing song, and it doesn't matter if you hear Whirring or Surfacing, both fill you with a sense of finality and determination. Such an amazing game.
when you have a "Non copyright" version of the songs in your game that are just as much if not a bigger banger than the tracks they're based off of, you know you're doing something good. This game was such a breath of fresh air, and I'm glad its getting the love and adoration it deserves. Its good we've gotten a game where you actually *earn* your rewards by playing and mastering the mechanics rather than giving the easy route by way of microtransactions and pre-order bonuses that give you that temporary upper hand for a quick buck. Its fun, the gameplay is solid and lively, its got a feel-good story, the art-style is that of a comic-meets-anime-meets-cartoon, and you've got a banger soundtrack (both licensed and original) on top of it all.
I excuse the cliches of friendship and stuff on here and love them. I remember back in my days, back in 08 where my friends and I were in high school and just so feeling so unstoppable. We always hung out in and after school, looking forward to graduation, telling ourselves were gonna do great in life and things will be okay as long as we stick together, but you know life does happen. Some of them moved out of state, got married, had families and not keep in touch, which was expected of course in hindsight but still, it made me really emotional because we all listened to the similar type of music that defined our individual sides and styles that bonded us against the conformity at the time, at least what we saw as conformity, which mine happed to be punk with some light, very light goth touching my style. Pants ripped with red plaid filling the holes, skate high black and white checkered patterned shoes, with skeletal arm warmers, glasses, and a chocker. Complete with my skateboard, haha I was a rebel. So naturally I did tear up when playing this segment. I was taken aback. Alright enough of my emotional mess. Time to hit the replay button once again! lol
I mean it something that gotta be remembered often in our current more than isolating world. Staying open to oppurtinity changing and making connection.
@@ZackL.R. I totally agree. Interpersonal connection and communication is very important. I'm more of a social butterfly outside my comfort zone always trying to meet new people and perspectives in life. You never know what you are going to learn. And also trying, as best as I can, to remember the nostalgic times and make meaningful logs and recordings. My memory is a little faltering these days, with me remembering things slightly, to even entirely, different ways than how they happened, so I always try to log or record memories best I can.
I live the passive lore in this game. Whenever I play this level, i notice that your above the ocean on a huge construction site. In Zanzo's lab you can see the earth and its all in tiny peices, much different than our earth. Peppermint also said that her mom solved a global energy crises. It could be that the earth basically had a catastrophic rupture, but instead of regressing, Ms. Vandelay stepped in and saved societies around the world.
Lyrics: Sounds move just too fast When you're in the deep Swirling all around me I just can't tell which ways up Tiny bubbles below me Swirling all around I think that I'm sinkin' But I don't know Too buoyant, rising fast Long exhales Slowly inflate your chest Just breath shallow Look up and don't panic *Ascending!!* When you're dragged down and you're sinkin' just too deep You gotta look up, don't rise too fast Just feel it happening *{Guitar solo commences}* (Surfacing) (Surfacing) (Surfacing) (Surfacing) Check your gauges Your tank is dry Lungs burn and you're kicking Be sure to breathe off your excess Decompression is your friend Prays the lung comes calling back 'Cause right now almost blinding Then you pass through the thermocline Push past the surface tension When they drag you down and sink you in the deep Just look up, let the past go 'Cause you're *surfacing* *{Guitar Solo Encore}* (Surfacing) (Surfacing) (Surfacing) (Surfacing) *{Crescendo}*
Man I was just rocking on to the song not even knowing what they're saying. Now that I read the lyrics and listen to the song again. Man I'm starting to tear up
(The "probably correct" Lyrics) Sounds move just too fast, when your in the deep swirling all around me, I just cant tell which ways up Tiny bubbles below me, swirling all around I think that i'm sinkin, but I don't know too buoyant, rising fast Long exhales slowly inflate your chest, Just breath shallow Look up and don't panic~ Ascendin~ When your dragged down, when your sinkin, just too deep you gotta look up, don't rise too fast, just feel it happening {surfacing} x4 *-Guitar-* Check your gauges, your tank is dry lungs burn and your kicking be sure to breath off your excess decompression is your friend prays the lung comes calling back cause right now, almost blinding then you pass through the thermocline push past the surface tension~ When you take it down, when you sink-you in the deep just look up, let the past go, cause your surfacing {surfacing} x4 (myky992 - finishing all the diving verbiage) (zandlerhandler129 - line 8 lyric correction)
I'm a scuba diver and it surprisingly helps! dont look up, flys too fast = I'm hearing "you gotta look up, don't rise too fast," "then you pass through the thermoclyne" (A layer of separation between differently hot water, usually just a few meters deep)
@@myky992 I think we did it, we figured out the whole lyrics! (Now we wait for the offical lyrics to drop and show how we're absolutely wrong and have hearing problems)
bro this song and the level it played in were so good, had tingles the whole way through and was playing at A-S rank everywhere when i normally barely reached B lol, was in the zone. and then the final boss was less fun to fight than the third last one lmao
this songs reminds me when I was just 5 in 2008 hearing my older 15 to 18 years old cousins bring up the speaker and pull up the Rockstar music something like that.
I just realized that not only is this Whirring by The Formiddable Joy, but Sexual Lobster's song Horse People sounds dangerously close to Whirring by The Formiddable Joy.
I like normal a bit better. But this isn't far behind. Whirring at the start of the battle puts it over the top but this song sounds straight out of FLCL lol
If you haven't picked it up yet, you absolutely should, it's absolutely AMAZING (and doesn't have any microtransactions or "feature that should already be in the game will be available in a future update", looking at Nintendo for the second one)
Since the licensed song in the playlist is not available anymore, here's a link to the same licensed song on a different video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p6HAVF_Yb9M.html
I kinda wish the guitars loop was on a two pattern instead of three, for me it feels off like that, but that’s probably me getting way into the music and wanting it to match my vibes lol 😂
I'm a huge Joy Formidable fan, and have been imagining epic boss fights set to this song for a decade. So suffice to say, I was pretty amazed when it popped up in this game. As a result, this pseduo-cover completely breaks my brain. Like the lyrics sound like actual gibberish, and I assumed it was an intentional decision to have it be a Sims-esque made up language. Incredible.
Was going trough my first run in this game (on very hard), despite having problems with missions before, beat this one without retries on full S. This was the rare moment of the true flow for me. I usually expirience it while fighting the key bosses like Vergil, Jeanne, Masked Lumen, Vorkken, but never while beating a regular mission. This was the true peak of the game, final boss is just boring.
Most of the streamer mode music is far better than the original they're based on, since both the beat and lyric fits more to the game and the character.
@@Shiverskill Well I feel that there wasn't any "extra" effort made (not to denote all of the track's composers and their efforts) because it's generally just making tracks for the soundtrack of your game. The original tracks could've come before the licensed tracks were chosen.
@@jjjabbers streamer mode was made in mind for streamers so they dont get copyright strike by trolls or the originals themselves even if they got the license for it.
