10 years ago I accidentally germinated a mango seed. The tree has been growing ever since. What makes this special to me? I live in Virginia. I take this tree inside every October and outside every April/May. It produced *tiny* mangoes this summer for the first time ever (but once they grew to the size of lima beans they all dropped off). Perhaps I'll get a dwarf variety some time.

You need a bigger pot and don't trim the plant. The bigger the root system, the larger a plant it can be. The more leaves it has the more fruit it can produce. Plants produce sugar in their leaves which in turn fuels production.

You all certainly have the green thumbs. You are great at growing everything. I protected a banana this year at my mothers. I made a checkenwire fence around, put Reflective insulation, hay in center, green house plastic over top, and a freeze cloth. I peeked in last week, i did see green. So the cold weather hasnt killed it. We are zone 8b border with zone 9. Dwarf cavendish type. I hope we make it rest winter. Good luck your growing. Take care.

Thank you very much for a very informative video. We are living in Bali, Indonesia and our climate is a little similar to California I guess without the luxury of clear seasons, and so we have basically "thrown" around 20 different types of fruit trees into our garden without giving too much thought on location or soil preparation. A part of me is a little sceptical about what we have purchased from the local nursery, but only time will tell if my scepticism is misplaced. Your video has inspired us to now take stock of the situation and try to do something better for the plants rather than just gambling on Mother Nature taking care of everything. We have just noticed our first open flower (yes 1) on our pomegranate tree which on initial inspection looked as if it had been glued on? Very much looking forward to going through and viewing the rest of your library.

I recently bought a grafted Langra mango from a Florida seller. It is still in the pot it came in. I need to re-pot it. In another video the person said to always keep Mango in very small pots otherwise it will get root rot. But you did pretty good with your tree in a big pot. I’m in Northern California. So I hope things go well with it. I also have seedlings of mango growing. Another Florida grower said he will sell some scions to me to graft on them once they are big enough. It’s fun growing these.

I picked a bumper crop of Manila's in Hayward in the SF bay area..a few dozen off a 12' tree 8 -9 years in the ground. I also am picking many small fruits off a young Ataulfo, about 5' tall with smaller fruits..smaller tree, smaller fruits is how they roll in the bay area. I grew the Ataulfo from seed 6 years now. The Manila's were full sized, sweet and since the wife likes then green also..we pick a few early for that. This summer here in the bay area was hot..July was a dud..but after that, nothing but heat relative to normal temperatures. Watch the rodents..they get a few. Opossums will get the low ones also. I had to put a fence around the tree.

if it was the wall then all the burnt leaves would be on the wall side. If anything the wall provides some shade. It's the intense sunshine and heat in CA that causes this. That and the lack of humidity.
