The most exciting thing is no matter how many years I've been gardening, the first sign of life after sowing a seed and watering it carefully brings me such Joy! As though I'm so proud that it worked! Silly maybe, but it's the best therapy 😊

To me, it's totally worth the wait. I basically just plant it and forget it, except I water it when I'm watering my other plants and lightly fertilize it once in a while. Pineapple plants, to me, in my climate, have been easy to grow so far.

I have grown pineapples for years. I live in northern florida. I have over a dozen plants growing and have started many other plants and given them to family, friends & neighbors. Everyone gets so excited when they get a pineapple on the plant and can finally cut it and eat it. It takes a long time to get a pineapple, but soooo worth the wait. Our last two were soooo sweet!

Take all the skin and boil it. You'll get a pineapple "tea"/water, that's actually pretty tasty. Put it in a big pitcher and keep in in the fridge. Add a little water to dilute it depending on how strong it was. Great to just drink, but I bet you could do some cooking with it or something. Pineapple rice, I don't know, I just drink it. THEN, after you've boiled it, you can put the scraps into your compost.

I boiled pineapple skin this week and made a detox juice with pineapple, ginger, and cucumber. I used the liquid for the juice instead of water and I put the skins in the compost. No waste!!! I froze the pulp from blending so I can use it in smoothies in the winter.

Thank you for posting this video; I’m absolutely fascinated by what you’ve shown us. Everything I’ve ever read has always said that a pineapple doesn’t fruit after the plant produces a single fruit and that you have to keep replanting pineapple plants to get more fruit.

I'm growing pineapples and two out of five are flowering! I'm so exited 😀 I had planted just one years ago and it gave me a huge pineapple a bit over a year ago. The mother took like 3 years to flower, but her side shoots I planted only took a bit over a year and Im hoping to get equally delicious pineapples soon! Someone told me one they flower they don't flower again so I discarded the mother. If only I knew it would flower again and the second would be larger, dang! I really regret getting rid of it 😕

I love gardening! I have a gift called “plant empathy”. I can “feel” or “hear” plants and know what they need to live and what makes them happy. Touching plants or being in a forest is the most soothing thing ever. I love getting my hands in the dirt, and there are actually bacteria (good ones) that live in dirt and reduce depression when they come in contact with our skin.

I loved all of your videos and very great therapeutic information indeed it is very rewarding and I definitely have to try this out one day and thank you so very much for showing me and everyone about this really great information you really should think about writing a book about this so people could have a really good book to reference on it with maybe some other tips that you may have not shared with us because I would definitely would love to buy a book about doing this and where the book could walk you through the steps and the months and coming years of care for it. I feel that a book that you could write about this would definitely benefit everyone other then just videos on it. Have you ever thought about writing a book on this type of secret? I sure would hope that you do write a book about it because you can take the book anywhere and use it as a very great reference to read unlike you can with a video. Especially when it comes to newbies who don't know anything about gardening and/or creative thinking ideas such as yours!. Anyway love all of your videos and thank you so very much for sharing its truly therapeutic and gives great closeness to mother nature and god!.. Many bleedings to you!!..

All my life I’ve had a black thumb, and every plant I touched would die. Last year I decided to try my luck with an orchid, and not only did I keep it alive for a whole year, I got new blooms! I got so excited that I decided to plant a garden and checking on my fruits and vegetables every day and harvesting the beautiful and delicious “fruits of my labor” has been the most fulfilling feeling ever! Right now I’m growing my first ever pineapple plant, and two avocado pits. I’m so looking forward to harvesting their fruits in a few years. Of course I will continue to purchase grocery store fruits until then, but having fruits that I have grown myself if so exciting. Your videos have been very inspirational to me. Thank you so much for the informative and inspiring videos you make.

Thanks, @California Gardening ! What I love about gardening... getting in the dirt seeing the worms and other tiny little creatures and ecosystems that live there in symbiosis. I love learning how to nurture a plant, watching it respond to the nourishment I give it then, watching it produce and grow something beautiful and nourishing to give back ! Each plant is so unique and fascinating in so many ways, so much design screams out from each one. There's so much to love of a garden. I believe in a personal creator of all things and am reminded of how I am created in his image in that I love to nurture, guide and appreciate my garden as a whole and each individual plant. If it is responsive, I am motivated to continue nurturing it as I am. When it isn't, I try everything I can think of to give it what it needs to thrive, and feel sad when it won't. Even if a person doesn't believe in a creator, once they work one and ponder at all, they'd HAVE to be astounded at the beauty, behavior, diversity and all over wonderment of a garden.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Gardening has been a refuge for me since I was a small child; it is something sacred, akin to meditation for me, in an attitude of worship it is. I had one pineapple top that rooted and grew over the last summer. I protected it close to the house on the sunniest side over Winter, then we had an early false spring that caused it it burst into growth action , but it turned cold again and the center of the plant rotted out and the growing tip was lost. I kept caring for it in the hope it would form some kind of side shoot and yesterday looking closely I could count three fat shoots forming on the sides. I re-potted it in fresh, good cactus mix potting soil with grit for drainage. Another discovery that amazed me, when I was cutting the pineapple from which this top originally came, I noticed small bodies just under the skin of the fruit and pricked them out carefully. They inspired me to research, and sure enough they were pineapple seeds. I learned that commercial growers clone instead of using seed because the clone is a known and sure thing. However, you certainly can plant the seeds to grow pineapples and maybe even get a new and better variety. One of my coworkers years ago told me how her Grandmother would always save the juice and skin of the fruit when preparing them and then ferment it a few days to get a nice pineapple cider called Tepache as a treat instead of tossing the waste to the compost pile immediately.

If you happen to read this let me know if you can taste the difference I find they don't have that real acidic taste you get from the store I can eat a whole 1 and not have it burn my tongue at all! And the sweetness juiciness flavor and even the color is 10x better than the stores ! A easy delicious plant that doesn't need much attention and like you said I've never had any problems with diseases of any sort! Homegrown pineapples a 10 out of 10 plant delish!

I have a new appreciation for pineapples. We’re currently growing one in my apartment. I had no clue it would take so long to produce.

Your passion rocks. My son always grows a few edible plants each season. This winter in Southern California he grew cabbage. That was so delicious, no bitterness to it or the broccoli he grew. Each person I saved it to raved about it, not knowing it was from the garden. Our food dies taste better when grown without pesticides. Keep inspiring 👍💛👍💛👍.

The most satisfying experience I have ever had was when I set down for dinner and realized that everything thing on my plate I grew and raised!! We process our own meat and grow our own veggies.

Thank you for the nice video! How narrow minded are people who comment that you can easily just buy a pineapple at store..The love and care that you invests in your own plant is priceless. And I am sure that your self growled fruits are essentially better, healthier and sweeter than mass-produced ones. 😍👍🏻
