I'm so glad they picked who they did for the voices. I find so much comfort from just hearing them now. Their familiar voices are so calming and leave a warm feeling of days gone by.

I'm a kid who knew the greatness of the big actors involved when I saw this as a child. I was brought up on everything from the 30s to the 60s. So to me, those guys were still big named and it was still new. Very strange to live back in time in that way.

I remember watching the behind the scenes of The Jungle Book while I was younger. I was born in 1997. I still miss the 2-D animated styles very much. I still like The Jungle Book 2 release back in 2003.
I was born in 1991 and I remember loving watching The Jungle Book over and over again on VHS in the mid 90’s. I also really miss the 2-D animations. Personally It’s my favourite Disney movie of all time and partly Inspired my love of Wild animals and being in the Wilderness etc.
@@cameronturk4388 I really miss the 2-D traditional animations styles from Disney very much and I'll be a movie director for my dream job as planing to bringing the 2-D animations styles once again for my dream job in the future.

Sweden here! I am glad to report that the Swedish version was gold, with a lot of Swedish familiar (famous) voices. That as the original, small kids today remember, even though these actors also basically are gone.

The story to this Disney Classic is incredibly fascinating. Like Bear Necessities being the original song from the first story write. A lot of the darker elements and artwork to really cement in the world of India. Walt wanting the crew to disregard the original Kipling story, and wanted this to be more enjoyable. See… It’s these things that defied Disney before. They thought deeply, had so many different ideas, and great talent to back it up.

Narrator: The voice of Kaa was provided by veteran disney voice actor Sterling Holloway who had play Mr. Stork in " Dumbo." Mr Stork: Which one of you ladies is expecting? Narrator: The Cheshire Cat in "Alice in Wonderland." Cheshire Cat: If you really like to know he went that way. Narrator: And the beloved Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh: Oh yes! I'm rumbly in my tumbly.
He was the voice of Winnie The Pooh and he did a guest appearance on The Andy Griffith Show as the Merchant Bert Miller and he was the kindest person and was one of my favorite episodes.
What a grand movie, and just as grand of a trip down nostalgia lane. My favorite as a young-un. I fondly recall going to see it in the theater when it first came out. I still have a vinyl record of the movie. Disney Classic and a wonderful swan song of the genius of Walt.
This was also my favorite Disney movie when I was a kid - and the 30th anniversary VHS edition in particular. I also enjoyed watching The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh and countless Sing-Along tapes. The Jungle Book was the last Disney movie with Walt's personal touch, and it is a perfect tribute to him - even 55 years after it was made.

I loved the jungle book when I was 8 years old, brings me back memories from my childhood watching it on VHS tape and knowing all the words to bare necessities, I wanna be like you, and elephant march song. The voice of Shere Khan suits his personality just like when he played as Frollo from hunchback of Notre Dame movie as one of the best villains behind the voice.

Walt's movies were so multilayered and pristine quality. The animation, the voices, the music. And Jungle Book more than most. Walt was a true creative genius with exacting standards and he surrounded himself with fellow geniuses - the best of the best - and expected their innovation and equal perfectionism. Ahh he was just so cool and passionate and his work reflected all it.

I was 10 when this movie came out I’m now over 21 lol I remember enjoying the music. My parents who came of age during the big band era. We’re so amazed that Phil Harris and Louis Prima musical ability. They always like those two bands now that I’m older, I think of the behind-the-scenes antics that must’ve gone on, all that talent all those brains hanging out together George Saunders, Sebastian Cabot looking on as Phil Harris and Louis Prima’s bands go crazy jamming together would’ve been a wonderful behind the scenes documentary of itself
The late George Sanders - before I even knew about him as Shere Khan here and the first incarnation of Mister Freeze on the 1966 _Batman_ TV series, I first truly saw and heard him as Monsieur Benjamin Ballon in the second _Pink Panther_ film from 1964 called I think _Bride of the Pink Panther_ - better known to us as _A Shot in the Dark_ ...

NARRATOR: Filling out the voice cast were Sebastian Cabot as Bagheera... BAGHEERA: You have the word of Bagheera. NARRATOR: ...J. Pat O'Malley as Colonel Hathi... COLONEL HATHI: And remember, an elephant never forgets. NARRATOR: ...Verna Felton as Mrs. Hathi... WINIFRED: Now just a minute, you pompous old windbag! NARRATOR: ...and director Woolie Reitherman's son Bruce Reitherman was cast as the voice of Mowgli. MOWGLI: I'm not as crazy as YOU are. Put me down!
This is probably the earliest (high profile) example of an animated movie with a mostly all-star cast of very recognizable celebrity voice actors (for its day). It makes Disney casting Robin Williams as Genie in Aladdin look very modest by comparison. It’s also funny to see a late 60s Disney flick already showing their celebrity cast meeting their characters in promotional material XD
There was also “Alice in Wonderland,” which consisted of Kathryn Beaumont, Ed Wynn, Jerry Colonna, Bill Thompson, Sterling Holloway, J. Pat O’Malley, and Verna Felton.

Yep. That was her last role and what were the final film roles for Martha Wentworth, Tudor Owen and Barbara Jo Allen? Hint it’s the film where Sebastian Cabot (Bagheera in this film) voiced Lord Ector in that film.
Honestly, it’s one of my favorite Disney films as a kid I even have the 97 VHS when I was really little of course that comes with the making which is pretty interesting
9:31, I can tell that Sterling Holloway was aging at the time in the making of the documentary. His voice is pretty much Kaa with a LONG ache. (I know this interview from him was a couple of years before, this) But this is what he'd probably look like if he was still alive in 1997.

it would have been interesting to see a darker Jungle Book that was more inline with the Rudyard Kipling stories but I can't imagine not having the Jungle Book as Disney made it

8:30 Both English actor George "Shere Khan 🐅" Saunders (1906-1972) & the late 🇮🇪Irish-American🇺🇲 born English🏴 actor Patrick McGoohan (1928-2009) sound very much alike in their tone of voice

If I had grown up in LA and lived near the Disney, Pixar, or any cartoon making studios, I would've learned animation artwork and maybe gotten into voice over work. Did Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas make a animated version of themselves on "The Incredibles"? Those two old guys that showed up near the end kind of looked like them. I was just kind of wondering. Thanks for posting it. Have a blessed day everyone
13:17 so did the late Disney veteran actress Verna Felton did the same exact year as Walt except he passed on a day after on then15th of December while she passed on the 14th of the same month of that year of '66
Roughly the other only personal touch to The Jungle Book dating back to Snow White was its key animators, which helps makes the film more near to home. A personal touch and their lifelong prolificness is something that I tend to worship when it comes to the movie industry. The music is very vivid, but I just don’t wanna think about it. Yes, it does have something to do with going back to Snow White. I probably oughta let it go but I can’t, the music firing up within the studio for 24 years was all overseen by an old conductor from Germany 🇩🇪. But returning to his birth country was a choice he made. And he missed out on this.
