Very honest and informative review, thank you for that! With that being said I have two questions. Would you recommend this bench over the KEPPI Bench500? And would height be an issue on any of these benches? I noticed in one of your previous videos for a fly bird bench you noted that it may not be ideal for shorter people. Do you think either of these benches would have a similar issue? (I am 5.2 for context if it helps)
@UsawaFitness
@UsawaFitness Год назад
Both Keppi benches are standard height so you'll be good there. The 1000 pro is definitely a better bench then the 500 but the 500 isn't a bad bench. It's not as sturdy and the 1000 is better in every way though.

Informative review, thank you. I'm trying to decide between this Keppi bench, and the Fitness Reality 2000 bench. I like the look of this Keppi bench, and I do like having two decline positions, compared to just one on the FR 2000 bench. However, the FR 2000 has an 85deg position for shoulder press, where as the Keppi does not (has straight 90deg instead OR 80deg next). My understanding is that shoulder press is best done at a slight angle. Would you say 80deg on the Keppi is sufficient for shoulder pressing? Or go for FR 2000 because of the 85deg option? For me, it's coming down mainly to that, whichever is best for shoulder press, as for my other intended purposes they're pretty similar. Thanks!

I'm at the gym but give me a second. I feel like that Keppi has a sight incline in the military press position too but I need to check. I'll be home in about an hour and I'll write you back.

Ok so I just went to the garage and checked out the Keppi. You have about 3 positions that are similar to the Fitness Reality bench at it's most upright position so you actually have even more options with the Keppi bench. Keep the price difference in mind though. You're getting an equal and maybe better bench if you go with the Fitness Reality bench it's just really heavy. :-)
@erzascralet48
@erzascralet48 Год назад
That price, YIKES. Seems solid, but for that price, I would rather myself upgrade to the XMark 7604 Adjustable Bench, and have the option to later add a Leg Developer attachment while also having a solid bench that's built better. Or, while Walmart still has it, they have a Tru Grit adjustable bench that's essentially a Rep AB 3000 rip off for $179 with FID adjustments. Seems this company came out too late post pandemic that competition is much stiffer. APpreciate your content, Vern!
@UsawaFitness
@UsawaFitness Год назад
Definitely an expensive one but I definitely like it. I'll do a short whenever I see sales on stuff like this. I'm digging the post pandemic market though. The garage gym, home and backyard gym space started well before it. We're just getting started! :- )

I picked up the same bench as part of an Amazon Prime day deal. It was priced under $200 and it was too good of a deal to pass up. My first choice was a Rep 3100 but the weight of the bench was too much for the space allocated for the home gym. What surprised me was that the Keppi bench was much lighter than I thought, but solidly built overall. I love the firmness of the pad and the multiple seat adjustments. My only criticism is that the bench length is too large, and if you position the seat in the flat position it doesnt store straight up on the wheel side. However, if you store and the handle side it will stay vertical but is at risk for tipping over. Other then the length and storage issues this is a solid bench, especially if you can get it on sale.

Awesome vid! Quick question, is the leg extension piece able to be used as a leg lock for lat pull downs or rows and such? If not, is there any bench you’d recommend for this case? Preferably under $300 with attachment. Thanks in advance!
@UsawaFitness
@UsawaFitness Год назад
Hey Kash, I guess it would hold your legs in but it feels like your body would still be pulled up. I've never thought of trying to do that but I'm going to try it and see what it feels like. Right now I use a 5 foot Olympic bar and my cages safety bars to hold my down. I'm not sure of any bench that I could use to do this.

@@UsawaFitness interesting DIY fix! Yeah I’ve been scouring the internet for info on that bc it no one talks about it. But it seems no one talks about it bc it’s not rlly a feature people are looking for I guess. I watched your video on the fitness reality 2000 and it seems as tho that leg lock can be used high enough to get ur legs underneath. What do you think? I’m about 5’6 btw

@@kash2444 I haven't tried it yet but I will.
@diylifter2934
@diylifter2934 Год назад
@@kash2444 I actually bought one of these and put it together today. If you take the leg attachment and flip it upside down it could possibly hold your knees in place for a lat pull. The problem is it depends how much your are pulling. If you're pretty strong and are pulling a heavy amount of weight there is the possibility the weight of the bench may not be enough to hold your body in place. You can try it out and see. Another option would be to add some plates on the bench behind where you sit.

I bought a similar bench, the YouTen 1500 rated bench. It functions in the same way, but the adjustment mechanism design is completely different. My concern with the Keppi was the overhang, and buyers complained about tipping and also some had issues with the seatback dropping during use (though I believe that those users may not have been twisting the pin into the locked position). The YouTen bench has less overhang and is solid and the support mechanism is stable and strong. My BIG concern about it was that 7% of the reviews were negative, but when I read them, the issue was the pleather was split when the bench arrived. If the decision is split pleather which I can fix or tipping and questionable seatback support, I'll take the split pleather. In fact, I ordered it with a soft but durable tape, just in case, but I haven't had that issue with mine. As far as function, the seat angles are a little different. My favorite bench movement is the decline bench and while both the Keppi and the YouTen have great decline positions, the Keppi declines to -20-degrees and the YouTen goes to -30-degrees, so it can really give me that deep decline angle I prefer. The Keppi seatback goes to 90-degrees upright while the YouTen only goes to 85-degrees, which was a compromise I was OK with. The YouTen listing says it's 45 pounds, but it's actually 75 pounds. Do I believe the YouTen is a 1500-pound bench? It's stable and strong, but if it could support a working 1500-pound load, I'd be surprised. I'll NEVER be putting that load on it and anyone who does is probably using it to store things instead of work out. The functionality between the Keppi and the YouTen and how they get their seat angles, and the foot / leg pads are pretty much the same, the primary difference is how you adjust the seat, as mentioned earlier, those are very different. The YouTen gap between the cushions is minimal, but not zero, while the flat bench seat height is the same 17.2", I'm a 5' 10" lifter with a taller torso and y feet are flat on the floor when benching, which is a must have in my opinion. I'm very satisfied with the YouTen, so far so good and at $279 - a $70 Amazon coupon it was $219, so to me it was a great purchase, I doubt I'll ever need an upgrade unless the bench fails or falls apart.

Literally the only thing stopping me from putting this bench in my shopping cart from.my wishlist lol. Been there for a long time but the fear of the tipping issue on the head of the bench keeps me up at night haha I also liked the rep 3100 but I live in canada and the shipping is yikes. Bells of steel have one for 250 but it's a little shorter. I'm 6'6" so not ideal. Few say it's stable. Few say it has flipped tipped or otherwise. Need a video of people doing working sets racking unracking the barbell yanno actually doing a workout with intensity see how she moves. Any takers;)

My fitness reality makes me ill. When I first unboxed it it had this strong chemical smell. I didn’t realize it was the bench that made me sick though atfirst , since new items tend to have some sort of chemical scent . I had it near me for 2 nights as I slept. I woke up with bloated eyes, I was getting chills, bloated head feeling , totally screwed up. Spent a few nights away and felt better, used the bench and it all came back and that was with an open window behind me on a breezy day . Idk if it’s the off gassing of chemical foam or the vinyl but I’ve never had a reaction like this . Even makes my insides of my stomach feel weird. Infact I looked into polyurethane foam and I think sometimes they use different chemicals and some of the reactions I had like up w that. I have other things with similar types of foam and never had an issue . I’m now considering this bench but I wonder if it also had a smell when it’s new? Problem is the fitness reality doesn’t smell anymore but it’s off gassing something . I know some of those chemicals in foam don’t have an odor and can off gassing for years even, same with vinyl and it’s always neurotoxic. Idk what to do. Iv never felt anything like that before, it’s got to be a toxic nervous system affecting fume. Im also considering to order my own natural latex foam and leather and switch the materials but that’l shoot up the price. Plus idk of latex foam is good for benches . Another question, the leg pads on this, they seem steeper they. The fitnes reality, right? I feel like there fitness reality ones point more forward and out, a bit easier on the knee joint during decline I’d think? That’s the one thing I do like slot about the fitness reality , it’s not super tight . Also it seems when you jump on this bench in the video and when the female did, it was wobbly , whereas the fitness reality was totally solid and still. That’s another thing I would prefer in the fitness reality since it sets in place by a wide bar, instead of a small metal insert . My old bench has a metal insert like this and it wobbles

Ok sure np. I did end up taking off the pads and you can smell it easily from Behind . Thought it wasn’t smelling anymore but it’s the smell I also noticed when I bench and I guess squeezed out some of the VOC’s. I contacted a foam company that does custom cuts etc . I light just do a latex and a leather combo . I thought about this bench again but remembered it seems a wee bit wobbly so idk. I don’t think I’d react weird to this bench, I’m convinced the fitness reality has some ultra cheap foam OR as the latex company told me, maybe if there’s glue, it’s the glue . I did see some red glue like substance on the frame after I took the pads off, it’s in between the Metal on the frame, idk if it’s a glue or what . But I’m pretty sure it’s whatever is in the padding that’s caused these atrocious reactions

I have this bench, and I would not recommend it. I do like many aspects of it, but it there is a major design flaw. It can and will tip over if too much weight is at the head. The first time this happened, I was benching 150lbs warm up. Luckily, I had safety bars in place since I couldn't reach the j-hooks any longer to rerack the barbell.
@UsawaFitness

Wow really? That's weird. I bench 225 with it and that's never happened to me and there are several shots in this video where we're benching 150lbs or more. I can't understand how that would happen. I can definitely see it happening if you did a box jump or something up there but we haven't seen that issue at all.
