The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I finished that book this morning. I couldn't put it down! The first story had me the edge of bed. The second story I had tears when Mike and Marcia cried. But the end of that... "Yeah, he may have been hot, but he probably had a chance to cool down by now." I can't even!! 😄 He was a hot mess to say the least ! Thank you so much! I Loved it ! 💖

My landlady's uncle, Pete Seeger, was responsible for this Civil War era spiritual becoming popular in the fifties, but I'm sure that he never played it like this! Fantastic!

Ed Sullivan loved The Kim Sisters and had them on his show an incredible 22 times. He also took a personal interest in them and was instrumental in getting their mother and aunt (The Kim Sisters were two sisters and a cousin) to the U.S. Lee Nan-Young was a popular singer in pre-war Korea; she passed away from cancer in 1965 and is buried in Seoul.

Their mother(auntie for Mia. Mia is a daughter of her brother’s) is also their music teacher and producer. Herself, her husband and her brother(Mia’s father) are regarded as legendary musicians who trailblazed the initial stage of modern Korean pop music in the early 1900s.
