I think you've missed the point. The premise of the show is based on a couple with little to no scruples and how they go to extremes to satisfy their selfish ways. Most of the time at the expense of innocent people. What makes an otherwise tasteless premise succeed is the brilliant acting and a writing team that never runs out of ideas. That's what makes this show stand out from the crowd and a classic.
