Where he took time to awaken fully (powers and all) starting from a vegitable to a living doll that would take hits without much concequence (to show his powers aren't really gone). He could still at least fight later on, all be it to a lesser extent. Then he awakens here. Or have it to where it starts off gradual but he stops mid-fight and does like Metabee on episode 1.

because it's a fact that SAO is never a "god tier" anime people made out of it. Since S2 there was already backlash about the story shifting to other stuff and totally ditching the original SAO. Then comes GGO in S3 that pulled it even further away. The entire series turned into a stereotypical harem series filled with shit ton of plot armor and overused last minute power up sequences. Even though it's MMO related, a lot of gamers can't relate to it with how much of a "cheater" Kirito actually is in most of the game he plays lmao with the amount of Dues Ex Machina happening. SAO has always been compared to Log Horizon and Overlord, with the latter being more relatable "mmorpg" genre series. SAO will be known for it's S1 peak, after that is just meh.

Made it so this didn’t happen every time. And make it not Kirito. This part of the story was executed better and that’s a point in its favor but the overarching story keeps forgetting it’s own rules and that bothers me

Everything he does after waking up barring a few things is something that's already been done by multiple other characters in the arc. Even if the anime doesn't tell you what's happening, it's still shown everything he's doing after waking up.
