Or some unnamed illness that caused her to die in a hospital- and they NEVER mention needing to pay off medical bills? and her dad even says that they have a college fund set aside for both her AND her brother! and (fun fact from easy googling) if she was ACTUALLY poor, Harvard actually recently set up a program where low income families (making less than 65k annually) pay ZERO fees for tuition, boarding, books, ect.

@@bibobiii the cost of living in most of the US is insane... a couple without kids bringing in 65k annually ain't bad, but if you have kids that you're trying to send to college, especially a college like Harvard (where tuition is roughly 50k), 65k probably wouldn't cut it :/

Jess Harkness that does make sense, in Europe colleges are most;y free and if not they’re under 10k, it’s just astounding to me how big the difference is. Like my dad makes 60-70k a year and I go to a private school, have a lot of apple products and he drives a luxury car, we live in a pretty big house with a pretty big garden, and we’re considered high middle class, so it’s so surprising to me to hear that the amount my dad makes would be considered poor in the us.

bindi Jesus am I glad to live in Europe, I visited la and Hawaii last year and Jesus was it fun, it was amazing all so different n shit but god does the us have problems. I think the main point is, my dad who is a ceo of a fairy successful country would still be higher middle class if he worked in the us, since there you earn WAYYYY more, it just comes down to the expenses of living, the more you earn, the more expensive it is to live there

Maddie Y’all use the term, “abusive” too loosely. There’s a difference between “abusive” and “controlling”. Lee never preyed upon Elle or took advantage of her. He learned from his mistakes and started to be more supportive of her decisions. So did Noah.

Honestly both lee and elle are bad ppl and bad friends. Like it was so ignorant of elle to just not realise how much rachel hated hanging out with Lee when she was there especially that same dynamic happens when elle hangs out with noah and chloe. She just clearly doesn't have any consequences for her actions. But nonetheless, both of them are bad ppl including lee. He's such a bad boyfriend.

i always thought that would've been a way better reason for lee to be mad at noah and ramona. he obviously didn't trust his brother since his first instinct was to think he hit her, so idk why the writers didn't just use that as a reason to make him disapprove of the couple and not some bullshit rules

THIS. i feel like everyone is only mad at lee and noah (totally understandably lol) but damn, elle is just as bad. she only gets upset when things don’t work out for HER and not other people..? like, she was so upset how close noah was with chloe, BUT SHE TURNS AROUND AND IS WAY TOOOO CLOSE WITH MARCO. soo hypocritical. every single character in this series is so problematic and the worst part: it’s ALL romanticized to the max 🙄

I’m so confused how Elle got in to Harvard. Another thing that bothered me is national decision day is May 1, and graduation is usually in the end of May or June, but somehow Elle hadn’t picked a college before she graduated.

I keep on telling myself that the first one was worse because the writing and the suuuuppeeer cringey comedy, plus how it was so badly directed and the visuals..... you get what I mean. But the second movie is (I think) maybe a little more toxic (idk, at least Noah isn’t perceived abusive in this one...), and it was so loooonnnngggg. Edit: plus the gay side plot made me kind of super annoyed 😅. Like these characters who don’t matter whatsoever are randomly thrown in for “diversity”.

What am I doing Also if they hadn’t put so much emphasis on the two guys I would’ve thought it was pretty normal for like half of their screen time. Like helping a guy up on your team after he’s been hit in the head and on the ground for a couple seconds is something anyone would do. Something that bothers me in these movies, is how they make it seem like any idiot can get into Harvard. For example, in the first movie, Noah gets into Harvard. We never see him do anything but get into fights and make out with girls. Yes, he could've gotten a football scholarship, but he would constantly get into fights, which would most likely go into his permanent record, and Harvard would not like that. In the second movie, Elle gets accepted into both Berkley and Harvard. Similar to Noah, she doesn't do anything that would conisdered "Harvard material". Instead, she wastes her time on two boys. Her essay was extremley mediocre. (rAcHeLs KiNdNeSs). She doesn't even stop to think about her future. She just wants to go to school because of a boy. I know that I am taking these Teen Rom-Coms too seriously, but it would be nice if in these movies if the girl actually ends up with nobody. Instead, she decided to focus on herself and her future. :) Not every girls' life has to revolve around a guy.

as someone else who read the books, i’m gonna give my own little opinion on this- i think that the movie is a horrible adaptation of the book. i feel like the movie took all the characters (as bad as they were already) and made them into even bigger, harder to like stereotypes. my biggest problem is what they did with Lee. in the book, he didn’t even really truly mind that elle and noah were dating and more that she wouldn’t tell him in the first place. and he even got over that quickly. i think adding the “rules” and making him to uptight about it in the movie killed the entire concept of the original story and made his character completely unlikable when he was actually the only one i liked in the books.

17:47 Well, I think I have an explanation for that. See the author is from Wales. In the UK, from what I understand, pretty much all schools have uniforms like that. Whereas in North America, it's the opposite where only fancy high end boarding schools wear them and most regular schools allow you to wear your street clothes with dress codes in place. When you look at it like that, it makes sense why the protagonist wants to get money for college if you think her as a British instead of American like how she's supposed to be. If she was British, the explaintion would be that she's middle class and needs the money. Whereas if she's American, it just comes off as nonsensical. Well, guess the author didn't do proper research into how schools in the US work, and just slapped in her understanding as is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tbh The Kissing Booth should've just never had a sequel. I'm gonna just talk about the characters rn: Elle: She is your cliche girl bestie who catches feelings for her guy best friend's brother and tbh it feels like they tried to make her relatable but in reality they just made her cringey. Lee: I would've liked Lee if he didn't ignore his girlfriend all because of Elle, I get that they're best friends but your S/O should be your priority. Also didn't like him when he basically restricted Elle from being with his brother. Noah: Every. Wattpad. Story. Bad boy. Tbh he was bland
