A decent meter for the price. I have it and keep it in my electrical work bag so it is always on-hand. The lead tip covers are there for CAT III rating (removable, as you stated and when desired). I have a favorite lead set I use in place of the set that comes with the meter... it has a couple styles of alligator clips that attach for more flexible use and better build quality.
I have this model and like it so far but cant find a 1000v version with the same screen style I would buy that too! The screen is sweet and if hold press button on side it gets brighter.
Great meter cause I have it and love it. It is lower in price than a fluke (but who can afford a fluke) and works (to me) as good and as reliable as a fluke for what it is. Enjoy your new toy cause I have several meters (models) from klein and they have been faithful and reliable for my needs (hvacr and handyman work).
Bought one in a auction lot brand new was just missing the leads for $4 heck even the batteries was good so I think I got a pretty good deal I needed a new meter anyway mine got stolen it was fluke but ill take this one
I've been using this same model for around 4 years. I work with up to 480 volts. It has worked greeeeaaaat for me and it has NCV option he didn't even mention 🤷. Just hold down the Select button on any setting and it goes into a non touch voltage tester (NCV)!!!
I don't believe my clamp meter works at all on this model. I just ordered from Amazon. I have fully exposed wires downstairs including the wires to my electric dryer, and when I put the clamp around it set on the 40A setting it does nothing on any of my wires going into my component boxes the most I get is like 0.23 and that is when i did a huge bundle of wires but my actual dryer when it's running shows no amperage at all??
You can't wrap it around a bundle of wires, needs to be individual conductors. If you were to clamp two hots or a hot and a neutral at the same time they would net to zero.
If you are into electronics and breadboarding STAY AWAY FROM THIS. It has a massive deadzone when testing dc amps. It gets no read from 200 micro amps to 300 milliamps. It’s absolute dog water. But it works if you want to make sure your house outlet is still putting out 110. Not to mention the dc amps fluctuates pretty hard. Even when not connected. Go FLUKE buy once cry once
Yeah I don't think this one is right for you, dealing with electronics. But for hvac purposes this works great. Great for checking capacitance, resistance, amps and volts for 3 phase equipment. Temp prob for supply and return delta t. 🤌🏽
I am NOT a fan of this tester. It's lack of user programmable defaults i.e. permanently begins with AC, 5 min auto shutoff, constant "beeping" (also shown in the video) makes this tester annoying to use. Stay with the Fluke - it's a MUCH better unit.
