I've owned this meter for 4 or 5 years now. It's been good to me. Accurate enough for basic troubleshooting. I would recommend it as a basic, tRMS, relatively affordable, name brand meter.
Agreed! The DC amp clamp has come in handy a few times as well. Lots of useful features for the price. But I do feel a bit more comfortable poking around 480v with my fluke, than with the klein.
I bought this as a DIYer, seems to be the cheapest name brand one you can get for DC Amps (Car work). Hopefully it lasts me a very long time if not lifetime for the price, as a bonus it will be a good tool when I become a homeowner.
Nice choice! It offers a lot of features for the price! The DC amps feature IS very handy for auto/small engine work. Sounds like you made a good purchase 👍
I’m a retired electrician and sold off my fluke’s when I retired. I bought the CL390 after I realized my two other budget meters were unreliable and one of them died. Oops! Bad decision on my part. What I despise about the 390 is the beeping when changing modes, it drives me nuts.
Not bad for the price. 40Mohm range and DC Amps on a clamp meter like that is awesome. My main meter is Fluke 179, and I use a T5-600 occasionally. Doing industrial maint. on everything from robots to packaging machines, I need everything from mVDC to mA's.
So I'm assuming a lot of control work? I haven't dabbled much with controls. I'm in industrial maint. as well, but at a very old facility. I mainly run a fluke 902fc and T6-600 for 120-480v. Just picked up a fluke a3000 for logging AC amps.
@@_Broomstick Lots. I work at a big potato plant in MN (hashbrowns, mashed, etc) that has spent a lot of $$$ automating almost everything. Id love one of those clamp meters, but its hard to justify spending the money when most of our motors are on drives. Love seeing different sides of the industry :)
Been looking at this for myself.... BUT I do a lot of solar so i need one that the clamp tests DV voltage AND amps. Specs online are unclear. Please advise
