People seem to forget the salary cap is increasing by 11.6m... 25m on a solid pg as of now is equivalent to paying 22m pre salary cap increase, which seem VERY fair for a player the caliber of JB. Not to forget, the new salary cap will clear enough space for the knicks to either easily go after another top free agent this summer or in the upcoming years.

Knicks were a 4th seed with Elfrid Peyton and Derrick Rose at the 1. If you say that’s because of Randle’s all nba season that is partially true but before picking up Rose at the deadline they were a .500 team. Now they’re adding a legitimate starting pg with year 4 RJ who averaged 24pts since January, along with a young core that finished the season strong. The Knicks can easily be a playoff team. I’d say they finish 6th or 7th in the east this year.

Bronson is a big big upgrade at the point guard position for the Knicks. the Knicks point guard position averaged around 25 points per game last year which had Derrick Rose averaging 15 and Kemba Walker averaged 10 points Bronson averaged 22 in the playoffs. Now you add that with derrick Rose 15 that’s a big big upgrade for the Knick

The leadership qualities alone between JB and Randle is night and day. Man dropped 40pts in the playoffs and established himself as a starter whenever Luka Doncic was off the floor when JR shrank vs ATL. I see this as a need + best player available signing, JB is a strong piece to compliment/lead our young core on the floor. Give the front office one or two more off-season to cash in or flip picks for the jump up to legit contender status. LFG NYK!

I like how Matt Barnes is trying to be as polite as possible "his best attribute is his availability" not his offense or defense, not his ability to lift them into contention, not an affordable contract number.

Look at how many games the Knicks were leading and lost the lead because they didn't have a floor general to control the pace and set up the offense to break down the opposing team's defense. You'll are also speaking under the assumption that Randle and Rj Barrett don't show improvement with Brunson being the lead guard. He provides craftiness and can spray the ball to help with the Knick's spacing. I expect that Randle will have a bounce-back season, RJ Barrett will increase his PPG and efficiency, and Cam reddish and Obi topping will have breakout seasons (as well as the rest of the young guys getting better). The Knicks can easily be a 50+ win team with just a Brunson addition if these things were to come to fruition.

People seem to forget the Knicks are a year removed from going to the playoffs as the 4th seed. We didn't get eliminated from the race last year until the last week of the season. Derrick Rose being injured, Randle being inconsistent and Thibs waiting until April to play the young guys caused us to barely miss the play in. If anyone is those goes the other way we're a playoff team. If all of those things would've went in our favor like they did the year before we're easily a 45-50 win team. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I'm very intrigued by what they were saying about Harden when Houston got him. He had 17 and 4 in 31 mins on 49% shooting and 39% from 3 his last season at okc. Brunson - 16 and 5 in 32 minutes on 50% shooting and 37% from 3 last season. Both played behind another ball dominant pg.

The Mavs went 8/9 when Luka was out and Brunson was leading. That’s not impressive for a backup. It’s misleading to say he scored 20 points per game when Luka was out unless you say they lost most of those games. He often had games when he scored less than 10 points. Kidd made him good.
