He often reserves a 10 in styling for cars that are also classicly beautiful (Aston Martin Vanquish) or simply so outlandish it's not even in the same category as anything else (Vector W8). The Countach, while possibly the collest looking car ever, does fit into a category, that being wedge shaped, and is far to aggressive and angular to be considered classically beautiful. At least, that's where I think he went with that

A friend's father had a Countach and he had a special pair of thin driving shoes for it. The only good feature of the THICCC and high door sill was that they were prefect seats for backing up. The doors opening up/forward allowed you to put your butt on the door sill and sit up high/crooked to operate the pedals and wheel. That actually gave really good visibility while backing up.

One of my most cherished memories is my Dad taking me to a Philadelphia car show in I think '91. Three things stood out to me that day. 1, being the Dodge Viper display. 2, the Terminator 2 display with the motorcycle and robotic terminator. 3, the Lamborghini Countach we got to see by walking up a ramp and around. This car to me, is the epitome of car aesthetics. It's gorgeous and I geek out thinking about it from time to time. The closest I'll ever get to it is on that day at the Philadelphia car show and this small "replica" Lego I bought that reminds me of how cool a car can be.

Same here: saw it at the Buffalo NY auto show in jr high school, I must've been 13-14. Really put things into perspective because with the couple of posters I had of it on my bedroom walls and seeing it in movies, esp in The Cannoball Run, the thing was a lot smaller than I thought it'd be! Soon the posters were replaced with Iron Maiden and Metallica.

My Countach posters were never replaced, but my big 25th anniversary posterboard seemed to disappear during a move after I got married. And I also lost some photos I took of a Countach I saw at a local car show which was on display when I was 10 or so in around 91. Crazy that the two photos I took of the white 25th were possibly the first photos I ever took in my life, and it was stupid of me to have left my photo album that contained them at my Dad's place which he rented out and ditched my stuff which was stored in the shed. But the Countach memory which will be with me forever was the day that my Mum pulled up at lights on the Highway next to a white Countach and I was able to see it on the road and see it launch and speed off whilst my Mum's escort got left in the dust only for her to risk a speeding fine by speeding to catch up to it so my brother and I could look at it for as long as possible 😂 And it was this memory which saw me buy my brother the Lego Countach as a gift, because if I had the money I would buy him a real one, as how else is one to show love than to give the love they want to be given?

I remember the first time I saw one of these, in 1986. I was going to see my Mom and was waiting at a bus stop, and some guy was showing off to his friend by driving it up and down the road at license-losing speeds. It was a 30mph limit, and he was probably going backwards and forwards at 80mph. I was fascinated: it was a spaceship occupying a world of Datsuns. It made a Porsche look positively pedestrian.

I didn't hear him mention they were hand built. It wasn't until recently I realized so few were made during the super long production. Lamborghini obviously sold a lot more posters and merchandise than they ever sold Countachs. For real 1980s flavor, you need to have silver, blue, yellow, and pink geometric shapes (that might also look reflective) and/or squiggly lines; a blue, green, or purple/pink neon grid in the background; a low-poly silver-colored android-like thing; a few randomly placed palm trees; someone doing martial arts or perhaps a ninja; dinosaurs; laser beams, and of course, the Lamborghini Countach. Bonus points if you have both a Lamborghini Countach and a Ferrari Testarossa competing against each other in a Tron-like race. Yes, I was a kid in the 1980s and I think the Trapper Keeper warped my young impressionable mind.

And yes, I had a Countach poster on my wall...what kid didn't in the late 80s and early 90s?! A guy in my hometown had a white one with the wing. He drove it on nice summer days and every time I saw it I was blown away. It made my day seeing it out in the wild. I agree that it's still one of the most visually stunning cars ever made, and it always will be. It's truly a timeless design. I think younger people who weren't alive when these were new are missing out on the context of just how exotic this car was back then. In a time of incredibly milquetoast cars (even the cool ones) this thing felt like it was dropped from the future.

A lot of reviewers of later Countaches would mention how they missed the clean lines of the original 1974 version, so you're far from alone. Supposedly, the wing actually cut top speed a little, although it added high-speed stability (and, for a lot of people, upped the cool factor). On the other hand, foregoing the wing probably meant you could always close the engine cover, even with the trunklid up!

One of my most memorable car moments- I was driving my ‘67 Beetle down our state’s version of Rodeo Drive in roughly 2020 when I see behind me a Countach in the flesh. I was astonished, saying to my wife that I couldn’t believe that there was a Countach behind me. At a stop sign, absolutely sprinting out of the restaurant, giant camera on a tripod in tow, was a photographer screaming, “STOP, I want to photograph your car.” I started to accelerate and he jumps into the road… in front of the Beetle. He snapped several pictures and just as quickly then walked away into the restaurant again. I wanted to highlight to him- “you do realize there’s a Countach right behind me!” He didn’t care. Evidently one of 23 million can be more remarkable than one in two thousand!😊

I had a chance to drive one of these many years ago, back in the early 2000s. I recently retired after working 27 years for a vintage/classic car shop. It was a large business, and did everything from oil changes to complete restorations. Mostly vintage American cars. I only worked on mechanical stuff, no bodywork or interior stuff. The owner of the business bought one of these. I believe it was a late '70s model. It was carbureted. Very much like that one on the inside. I got to drive it on highway 87, from Mesa, AZ up to Payson, AZ, 60+ miles of constant curves and mountain grades. Surprisingly it just wasn't that much fun. The visibility was so bad that you couldn't tell exactly where you were in the lane. I notice you didn't show a forward view while driving. It's a very wide car, and the windshield is almost horizontal. You can't see the lane lines close to the car. Overall it reminded me of a kit car. Nothing fit properly inside or outside. The trunk lid and engine cover flexed badly. It had a lot of squeaks and rattles. I did love the engine sound, but I love the sound of a late '60s/early '70s American muscle car better, especially Mopars. I definitely would not consider trading my 1969 Dodge Charger 440/4 speed for one, no matter how much it's worth.
