That’s great your friend decided to contact you. Bartering is the way to go, especially when both parties end up successful and happy. I agree with your Dad about leaving the original wood siding on that one wall. It’s sturdy, extra insulation and support.
Wow! You DID get lucky with how you got rid of the asbestos shingles. Nice trade too. I'm looking forward to seeing you button this project up... but there always seems to be more to do. Even when you are done inside the addition... you have the inside of the house to do to patch up the areas where those windows are. Always seems to be another step... one or two more things.... two or three more... 10 or 20 more things that gotta be done... lol.
GOOOOOOOD MAAAAAAAAWNIN EVERYONE FROM CHILLY NEW ENGLAND THIS TIME VISITING FAMILY PRECHRISTMAS….Looking good Steve. You’re wicked lucky 🍀 to have a friend to get rid of that hazmat siding. Keep up the great work. Catch on the next one Have a day
Just jump in to that demo. Youll turn around and itll be behind you. Think qbove the work and dont be super concerned with troubles that present themselves. You got this.
Did you know by building code you have to have a solid fire rated door between the home and garage also the wall has to be covered with 2 layers of fire rated 5/8 in drywall...minimum is type x one layer of 1/2 inch or thicker drywall...I always use 2 layers of 5/8...
I have that tester there's another one that's a little cheaper it's more user-friendly that tester you have you could be standing on a plugged in electric cord and it'll read hot. Try it.
Looking good. Just a thought but, since you already have a few planks of would torn off the wall, why not take the rest off and insulate the wall with new insulation. You are planning to put 2x's over it so, you could possibly put some 6" insulation in that wall and reduce sound and heat loss. And use regular outlet boxes as well.
That sure looks like asbestos siding on your wall. Had that on my building as well for siding, didn't know till I had taken half of it off. (Thanks mister inspector man cost me a lot of have it removed also probably saved me from breathing the rest of it in.)
