Such a sweet wonderful song. No one could sing it as beautifully as Phil did. Tho I adored both brothers Phil was some how special....very special. R.I.P. Phil I'll forever miss you♡
A beautiful song originally written by scott McKenzie and The Everly''s make a pearl of this beautiful song ! I always thought that Don song this but it was Phil surprisingy ! ( with Don on the background ). Very nice and exceptionally ! Don taking the high notes and Phil the first voice. He sings this song so well. It should be known by the whole music world and not only by the Everly fans....Thanks for posting this nice video with Phil here !
The Everly’s have been my idols since 1958. I sat in the 3rd row for their reunion concert in 1983 and was in heaven. Phil has always been my hero. Such an angelic voice.
Who didn't love the Everly Brothers? They had a sound and style all their own. Being brothers their voices were very similar to each other but different in range. Perfect for harmony. This is a beautiful song I've never heard before. I've loved the Everly's for 65 years and always will. RIP Gentlemen, you gave the world your gift which the Almighty gave to you. :o)
When J.F.K. was taken from us I had never felt such a heavy loss for someone I had never met. With the passing of Phil and Don Everly the loss is that same heavy sadness. Though I never met them, I grew up with them, I sang with them, I shared my joy with them and here I am tonight...sharing my sorrow at their absence with them.. Soundtrack of my youth 🎼🖤
Such a beautiful song. It fits his voice perfectly. Tho I adored both brothers Phil was always super special. RIP Phil...you'll forever be remembered and missed.
They were the FIRST to touch me "to the point of tears." What a MAGNIFICENT gift GOD gave to them and also to us, because HE gave it to them for us to enjoy. R.I.P., Phil, and to Don, Bless you, and there was...there is...NO ONE like "The Everly Brothers."
Marina Schamehorn He's my favourite too. Have loved him since I was 12. I met him once in Toronto, still have his autograph. Could listen to him all day. He was a genuinely sweet person. His. Music is timeless.
RIParadise 😇 Phil Everly. Now amongst so many in that Heavenly Choir. Rest our dear friend in Eternal Peace. [ Researched the origin of his name Phillip Jason on Google. The Greek origin of Phillip = Lover of Horses, compounded down to dear, love and lover AND Jason = Healer.] Phil"s persona rang true to his name. He warmed a many hearts and was loved by so many. With all due respect, I still 🙏 for Peace and Comfort to his Family and fans.
I love this song the words are true look what's going on there's trouble in the UK the people who have put thumbs down don and Phil had problems but they sorted it out and they sang again show respect that's all ism asking here's to absent friends and family and the greatest singer's ever may not be here but never for gotten and the music still plays by all the greatest fans ever from roberta thank you
Gegen Phil's riesen Villa, kommt selbst Elvis seine nicht mit.😮 Er hat aber nicht viel davon gehabt, schätze ich. Er ist ja nicht mal 75 geworden und vorher war er sicher nur unterwegs.
I'm an old fella (75 last week), but when I was a teenager, Don and Phil were hot! Many of these songs, as everyone knows, were consistently on the charts, r&b, country, pop, you call it. I realize I've blown by several decades, but could someone help me: Specifically, why did the boys split up? Why did they get back together when they did? Is Erik Tielman the third Everly? Does he sing or play an instrument? (So many questions, so little time.)
Keep young by being young at heart, make yourself look good and surround yourself with younger people that will refresh your being, 75 is only a number of 57! cheers!
They split up in July 1973 aged 36 (Don) and 34 (Phil) because they needed a break from each other and from constantly touring. They’d never had the chance to develop as individuals. They’d been singing together since they were 8 and 6 years old, and touring together almost non-stop from the ages of 19 and 17. Living and working together, nose to nose, like hamsters on a wheel without a proper vacation. Also they were very different personalities - Don the more serious but mercurial in temperament…liking change…attracted to modern art, interested in good food and cookery. Phil the more affable, liking traditional things and family life. When their record sales dipped in the mid-1960s they were constantly under pressure to find hit singles again. But the Beatles and the Brit music invasion meant they weren’t as popular as before. All these pressures caused them to take out their frustrations on each other with arguments, particularly from 1970, when they barely spoke to each other. Finally, Don told Phil he just couldn’t be an Everly brother any more, and they split acrimoniously. For 10 years they didn’t speak, apart from at their dad’s funeral. Phil lived in California and Don in Nashville Tennessee. But people were always asking each of them when they’d sing together again. And they did actually miss each other, because underneath it all, they said they loved each other. One day, in 1983, Don (aged 46) picked up the phone and called Phil (aged 44). They talked again and again for months, and finally met up. Phil says they resolved all their issues “with a big hug”. They also spent time with their large extended family in Tennessee which helped. They decided their relationship as brothers must come first - unlike in the past - and only once they were close again would they sing again together. Both agreed on a first reunion concert at the Albert Hall, London, where their father Ike had appeared with them years previously. They also decided they’d continue singing together after this, but not at the same frantic pace as before. Their last concert was in Ipswich England in 2005 when Don was 68 and Phil 66 - cutting short their tour because Phil was starting to experience breathing difficulties - the start of the COPD that finally caused his death in 2014.
Thanks for the advice ...I will do just that but by choice ... not because of your unsuccessful attempt to intimidate me. with ridiculous threats of violence. We have been here way before today. 11/24/2020
Nice song, I haven't heard this before. However, there are some horrendous skips in the song which really ruin the flow. Is that how it is on the record?
