Wrestling shoot stories on Haku/Meng/King Tonga told by Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Honky Tonk Man & Perry Saturn Watch the sequel Haku: The Legend Continues • Haku: The Legend Conti...
I'll never forget seeing Meng walk up the ramp after a Monday Nitro Bonus Match after live taping in Las Vegas, with his face grimacing and speaking in that haunting language, Lay eyes on me, who at the time was a 4 foot tall scrawny 12 year old fan, jumping up and down trying to get his attention, all of a sudden pop into an ear to ear smile, and wave at me like a little rascal..... I was terrified....
"He could kill every one of us in the blink of an eye and there's nothing any of us could do about it." I choose to interpret "every one of us" as all of humankind.
Skeezix 100%!!! There needs to be a documentary of all the stuff organized into one perfect collection, just all of Meng’s stories because there’s a ton of different wrestlers who shared the road with him so there’s probably hundreds of amazing stories. This is a MUST
The whole industry respected and feared Haku. Kevin Sullivan would use his name when people wouldn't do the job. Eric Bischoff wouldn't and couldn't find anyone willing to tell him they were going to let him go he wrestled for three more years for them. When DX did the invasion of WCW. They were told if HaKu came out to drop everything and run for your life
Just listened to a Goldberg shoot interview where he spoke about wrestling and MMA and the topic of Haku came up. He said "I don't know any man alive who could take out Meng in his prime. I really don't. This was a totally different human being"
My dad watched wrestling with me a lot and when Meng was gonna wrestle Goldberg he believed he was the one guy that could beat him. Swore up and down "if Meng can't beat him, absolutely nobody will. Ever. Meng's tough enough to take him." Even though he lost, Meng made you believe he could destroy everyone in the ring with him (and most often it was true).
We are. But if you think they guys are tough trust me. Our women are even MORE terrifying. Ask any island man. They'll tell you. They respect/fear their wife but upmost important they fear their MOTHERS.
I will never for the life of me understand fans who test wrestlers. Even if you're logic is "well, its fake, so they can't really fight"...these guys are still built like superheros and have bodies trained to deal with punishment...are you fuckers insane?
I work with numerous Samoan boys here in Australia & it's true... They are the nicest guys around! Always there to help you out Always offering a ride Always sharing their food Always singing & laughing Had some wicked parties at their houses & all their families are welcoming & looking out for you Nothing but happy vibes! But if you piss them off? You'll see visions of these Haku stories😁
I remember watching an episode of WCW where Meng was leaving the ring and the bumped into an approaching Tank Abbot coming into the ring. Tank got out of Meng's way pretty quick!
I can personally attest that Haku/Meng is a super nice guy. I got a picture with him and he was as gracious as anyone I've ever met. That being said, I recall him having HUGE hands and wouldn't want to anger him.
@@AxeDharme I am. We've all seen what happened to the great tough guy Kimbo Slice. Everybody talked about how badass he was and that he would never be beat and how he was going to take the UFC by storm. Well he not only got beat, he got stomped into ground meat. He beat an aged and battered Tank Abbott, so what?? Everyone has tales of somebody they know being a badass. Everybody goes down eventually. Nobody is unstoppable. Haku might be bar tough, but he was never a real fighter.
Saturn was once given the followng list of the guys with the strongest reputations of being tough and asked who would win a fight between them all. The Barbarian Meng Scott Norton Jim Duggan Fit Finlay Scott Steiner Rick Steiner Himself He responded “Tonga. Nobody else would stand a chance. Not even a question. He could kill everyone without blinking and there is nothing anyone could do about it”
I heard this story about Haku. I don't know if its true or not. But there was a huge Comet that was on a collision course with the Earth. Haku ran up to the top of Mount Everest (it took him only 45 seconds) and he growled at the Comet. The Comet was so scared it turned around and flew back out into space!!!
These statements by genuine badasses say all you need to know about Meng: Rick Steiner: "Scotty and I always thought we were tough guys but that was before we met Meng" Ex Ranger Perry Saturn "He could kill everyone of us in the blink of an eye and there would be nothing we could do about it" Big Van Vader "You don't mess with Meng" Arn Anderson "There are three kinds of tough men - tough men, wrestler tough men and then there's Meng" Goldberg "I don't know any man alive who could take out Meng in his prime. This was a totally different human being"
William Malakai Meng was tough but a lot of wrestlers have trained and competed in mixed martial arts that would mop the floor with him. His legendary stories are all bar fights against drunken nobody’s.
@Toxic Gaming people say all kinds of things. Let me ask you this, who did Haku ever fight? Nobody!!!! He beat up a few drunks in bars. When did he ever have any type of real fight?? Wrestlers are always going to back up their bros and build them up. Haku is nothing.
@Toxic Gaming I've been boxing for over 4 years and have 3 years of MMA training. I've had real fights. 4-0 with 4 ko's in boxing. 2-0 so far in MMA. What's Haku's record? I looked him up, he's not even in the datsbase.
Theres a famous one where meng walked into the toilets in an arena where people didn't flush, and he just looked at them and scared the shit out of the toilets.
I heard a ton of stories and many wrestling legend agree and say without a doubt that Haku is the toughest guy in and out of the ring the ever. I wouldn't mess with that guy. He takes no prisoners. Much respect to King Tonga
I met him about 2 months ago in FL atba car dealership. He was awesome to talk to. He had great stories to tell about the old days of wrestling. And I have pictures to prove it lol
Absolutely no hesitation on Saturn’s part saying Haku would kill all of them and there would be nothing anyone could do about it. Even when Barbarian was asked who would win between him and Meng-Barbs shook his head and said ‘Meng’s the man’
Jonathan Turbide lesnar was there in 2002 ,did they face each other?i think if finlay and meng didn't fight each other ..i think lesnar can take meng out
paras tandon Trust me, Brock is a tough bastard and a superb athlete but nobody was tougher than Haku. Haku would have made him cried like a little girl.
A lot of people don't realize that pro wrestling, minus the visual stuff and the script, is essentially pro football without the pads. I was in the Army with a Mexican guy who lived near a pro wrestling training gym back south of the border. The neighborhood tough guy-wannabes used to ridicule the luchadores with the usual stuff about "wrestling's fake" until one day someone said or did the wrong thing and the luchadores went at these guys full-bore. One of the tough guys was my buddy's brother, whom he ended up dragging home in a wheelbarrow. Nobody else in the neighborhood dared talk smack after this fight.
As a 6'2, 230 pound amateur Mma fighter, I would gladly fight Brock Lesnar, even if I know that I would brutally get my ass kicked. Haku on the other hand? Wouldn't do it for a million dollars.
Hmm, im pretty sure brock would take haku. I know haku is known for his brutality, and pain tolerance, whereas brock is known for not being able to take punches to the face well, but with his grappling, ape strength, quickness and discipline, I'm pretty sure he'd take him. It's a fighter (that was a heavyweight champion, and not some local trainee) vs a wild man. Take your pick
+Fuckdisworld93 Brock would probably beat him a legit fight. The reason I would rather fight Brock is that I would rather get my ass kicked than my nose bitten off.
He was trained in martial arts, but he had more training in Sumo....He had both....You're fixated on post millennium Meng, and are totally missing 80's to mid 90's Haku and King Tonga....
When I was in 5th grade in a small village west of Rochester NY, there was a fund raiser wrestling match at my school and Haku (known as King Tonga then) was walking into the Gym while I was at soccer practice and my wrestling coach (who was just a high school senior) yelled "Fake, its fake" and Haku stopped dead in his tracks and started walking towards the soccer field. He is much bigger in real life than he was on TV. But eventually everyone shut up and he went on his way.
I was lucky enough to be friends with what people call a " jobber". He was my uncles neighbor. As a youngster I had the inside scoop. I knew 2 weeks before that Haku would be the next king. Haku was the the real deal.
Even if you paid me a million dollars for a minute in the ring with Haku, I wouldn't do it. I mean what would a cripple do with a million dollars anyway?
most of the toughest people ive ever known have been the nicest people. I think once you get so tough and you have nothing to prove you can just be nice
I love these stories! .......... yet there is another I heard as told by a state trooper who was about 250 lbs.. +/- , in his late 20's and a former college line backer .... so not someone you'd want to fool with either. He claimed that the wrestlers were in a hotel bar, and he got called to break up a big fight between several people. Haku was in the middle of it, kicking ass, and when he he tried to subdue him, he said haku grabbed him and threw him over a table and across the freakin room like he was nothing.... a 250 lb former linebacker............. Eventually several cops were called and haku was allegedly raging in another room, and a few wrestlers were begging the cops NOT to go in there until he calmed down to avoid more bloodshed, and apparently they listened. once he calmed down, he came out quietly, got handcuffed and taken away until bail. having said that, he is also apparently one of the nicest and most polite person you can meet..... unbelievable. Moral of the story? Don't fuck with anyone, especially the quiet nice ones, and especially the 300 lb Tongan's who are trained to kill, as they may just tear you a new arsehole...
And there are still some people that say that Haku is overrated as a tough guy and that he's just overhyped. Haku was arguably the most dangerous men in the world at one point.
CaptainQwarkOwns Maybe bacause Haku was a midcarder most of his time, especially in WWF. He had a gimmick once in WCW, where he was the Bodyguard of Cl. Parker. There he was portrayed a little bit, what he really is in real life. Most people didn't get it, because in WWF most sammoan guys were portrayed as brainless maneaters.
***** Don't get angry, Fanboy. Fedor is NOT Superman. he has lost. Nobody is unbeatable. Live with that. Fedor is not God. Maybe Haku would bite off Fedors Head and give it to You, so that You can worship it. me, I don't really care. There are way more important things in life.
The fight when the cops came to the hotel, it was Barbarian who calmed Haku down. Well, I suppose there may have been more than one...? The negotiation for surrender was Barbarian, Brutus full of it.
Could've sworn I heard a story when Beefer and Haku had a match and Beefer afterwards complained about him being stiff. Haku was later told to ease up on Beefer and became angry, went into the shower where Beefer was, put a chokehold on him, lifted him so his feets walked air and finally Hulk had to talk Meng down.
I read once that when the UFC was in its infancy in the early 90s they wanted Haku (whilst he was in WCW) to compete and he was on it too but Eric Bischoff didn't let him.
@@jdoe1988 Yeah, I agree with you. But I read that they wanted Haku to compete, they must've just thought let's get this pro wrestler to fight, but had no idea of the stories of his feared toughness.
I heard this one story about Haku. I don't know if its true or not. One day a cop shot at him. Haku just glared at the bullet. The bullet was so frightened, that it changed its trajectory and went back into the cop's gun! When the bewildered cop tried to shoot again, the bullet wouldn't come out. In fact none of the bullets would come out because they were so scared of Haku!!
I heard that there was an asteroid on trajectory to slam into the earth, but Haku just glared at it and the asteroid turned around and went back into outer space. ;)
The nicest, deadliest man on Earth. Word was he was cool unless you started some shit or got him drinking. Starting some shit with him while he was drinking was a suicide mission Death by Meng
I remember a JBL quote but I don't think I can quote it verbatim, I'll try though. "If I made Haku mad and I was in a tank, I would get out of the tank, say sorry and shoot myself."
I just read the quote not 5 mintues ago hahaa. It was "If I had a gun and was sitting inside a tank with one shell left and Meng is 300 yards away, he's mine, right? Well the first thing I'm going to do is jump out of the tank and shoot myself because I don't want to wound that son of a bitch and have him pissed off at me."
John Powell Jake said something like "If I have Meng square in my eyes, a gun with 1 bullet, you think I got him right? Wrong. I would rather just shoot myself".
Stevie Ray told a story of walking in on a bar fight and in the middle of it Haku was finishing a guy with the Tongan Death Grip hahaha I mean come on if this dude isn’t the coolest wrestler of all-time I don’t know who is. Used his wrestling finisher in a real life bar fight and apparently the opponent was selling it completely and was passing out, it does not get any better than that! King Haku !
Tank Franz Hogan. They grew up together in Florida and started in Florida territories together with Terry as the lead guy. Pissed off Hogan sometime between the end of nWo and Hulk going back to WWF.
Tank Franz Ric Flair said that Beefcake broke into Hogan's house and stole some jewelry...however, Hogan is now on the outs with WWE as well...so who knows. If it wasn't for that parasailing accident it did seem like he was going to get a big push, back in the day.
"Why someone would want to pick on 300lb Samoans in a bar, I do not know." Truer words never spoken. If they're strangers i'm buying them a round to get them on my side. lol
I heard this story about Haku. I dont know if its true or not but there was a heavy rain in Toronto where they were suppose to show but beacuse of the rain they coudnt show. Then Haku just glared at the rain and it stopped and never rained again in Torronto
Weird...I read about the bar incident (and running back to the hotel) from another source, and they quoted Haku as saying he was with Siva Afi, and made no mention of Beefcake.Other times I've read of a locker room altercation in which Haku was choking Beefcake and had him off the ground, and wouldn't let go until Hogan talked him down.
there's a cop in my hometown who looks EXACTLY like Brutus. As teenagers we even called him Brutus. Also , just because the outcome of the matches is predetermined , it doesn't mean those big bastards couldn't seriously hurt you
haku harley race danny hodge three of the toughest of all time. danny hodge put brody in a shoothold because brody didn't believe hodge was big enough. danny hodge ncaa wrestling champion golden gloves boxer.
Goldberg said "I don't know any human being who could take out Meng in his prime, I really don't ! This was a totally different human being" Check out the radio interview here rattling-the-cage.com/audio/goldberg%20interview.mp3
You hear guy after guy in the wrestling business not even blink and say Meng is a destroyer, and you still have marks out there saying Lesnar could take him. It’s not a knock on Brock to be arguably the second toughest guy in the business. Saturn sits here and says Haku kills every one of them in one sitting and you still have people going, “Uh uh!”
if haku back in the day ever went to mma he would have gone down as the greatest mma fighter of all time haku is the only man I believe would fuck brock lesnar up no disrespect to the beast but haku is the beast killer
