I love this moment! Victor really wanted to challenge Rean to stop holding back his sword! He's good friends with Rean's master so he knows there's more to him! This helped Rean so much! He needed this!

Hell, not even Guy and Chief Sergei would blame him for putting his daughter's eyesight in front of his integrity as a police officer. Ian Grimwood on the other hand, he can burn for all I care.
@@artturisiikanen3843 No. Sounds like you're looking at it from a gameplay perspective. The fight here was a lesson for Rean to teach him to stop holding himself back due to his insecurities and fight with all he had. It was never about winning, and I highly doubt Rean would be able to straight up defeat him even in Ogre form.
@@artturisiikanen3843 it would be hard to explain how noticeable the difference in Rean’s strength is without showing it’s gameplay impact. Sure we had the Elise situation where Rean had to save her but that fight was against an archaism (or some ancient robot thing) which really didn’t have any defined strength. While the Viscount is a world renowned sword master, showing the fact that Rean even managed to make a dent in him while in Ogre form shows that Rean will only grow stronger the more he learns to control his power. It’s as the Viscount said power is only a measure of raw strength, you need to understand how to harness your power before you can truly be considered powerful
I love forced loss battles like this, cause they serve as plot points for character development. Prior to this, Rean was hesitant to continue his training in the Eight Leaves, One Blade Style due to his circumstances. But after being defeated by the Viscount, and learning that to master the blade is to master one's self, Rean found the motivation to continue his training until he eventually became the youngest Divine Blade in the history of the Eight Leaves School.
Personally I hate moments like that in games, however it's done excellent here because it's an opponent we know is much stronger than the main character and also because if you do well then you get to see his s-craft, so there is still an incentive to give it your all.
The time when you only have like 12k HP on your strongest character and your opponent ultimate damage you for 50k and he still "held back", this is epic goosebump moment! Best game ever!
Fun fact: come back on a second playthrough and you can bring him down to 1 hp. Pretty much all unwinnable battles are like that. Sara and C have the same thing. Once they get to that point they don't take any more damage.
@@thousandyoung Why would the game reward you for defeating these 'unwinnable' battles with NG+ bonuses and exploits? It defeats the purpose of the award itself.
@@brahmantyoihsan5938 you can bring him to 1 hp without it being NG+ that and I wouldn't call them exploits, you're meant to use cheese like time and evade to even win the game, they designed it that way
I thought at first they could have let Sean Chiplock voice more lines instead of just "NOW". But there's something creepy yet awesome about a simple cold-blooded "NOW" in his voice that shows Rean's true power and biggest fear, why he was holding back this whole time.
Rean a lot stronger than hes given credit for but in my opinion class 7 kinda makes it hard to tell so few moments like this hes a actually holding his own vs radiant blademaster in CS1 think about that
Michael McConnohie was such a great casting choice. You may know him as Uther, Kel'Thuzad, and the Arthas(Lich King) in Warcraft, and he's been in anime before, like Bleach, Code Geass, and 7 Deadly Sins. While I'm sad he didn't get to reprise his role, Jamieson Price was a good replacement in Cold Steel 3.
@@wsitumn not really though it sad to see such a great series end there is no disappointment in it. Like all legend of heroes series all characters will show up with one huge showdown.

Laura can only cause half that and buffed at that. Only goes to show the huge difference in power. Not suprisingly, considering that his stats state he is lv 80. Almost double of what anyone else is at this point.
Now. Now. Now. Now. Now. Geez they didn't really tried to give him much voices as Ogre form Rean, in english! Or Japanese! Cuz in the Japanese version he says the same thing and repeats it every time.
Now I understand why I prefer the Japanese version. Not only instead of ogre they say demon power, but the voice of Rean in japanese is also more demoniac than just a normal voice with auto tunes on it. The voice actor actually makes a beserk version or him without control. I do like those little details that make the English not so good because of repetitive dialogs and in demon form Rean actually looks more aware in English than Japanese.
@Cool Dude Oni can be translated into english as either Demon or Ogre into. That said I agree, "demon" works better here, but "ogre" isn't technically wrong.
@Jeremy Aber typically, in a game or anime, I prefer the japanese subs or voice overs more, but every once in a while, I do enjoy the English more than I do the japanese. I like the voice acting on trails of steel so much I don't even bother switching over to japanese as I usually would. Same for games like the persona series. English translation never really come out sounding......"genuine" for a lack of a better term, but when it does, I enjoy it way more.
Yeah, especially on a second playthrough I was strong enough to reduce the hp of a few of the game's scripted bosses to 1 hp, but nah it's scripted. You can't reduce them to zero, only wait for them to wipe you out xD
