I've got the POF Revolution DI. It's sub moa in 168 and 175 grain match ammo. Don't expect moa with cheap Russian ammo or cheap anything ammo. In any rifle. Light AR rifles are hard to shoot accurately, regardless of caliber. They have longer lock times than bolt action rifles and have to be held firmly and I like to load the bipod. I see people ragging on rifles that either can't shoot or use trash ammo it gives whatever rifle a bad name. If you're getting just over moa with steel cased ammo you should be thrilled.
Mine shoots 1 1/2 MOA with white box . This. Is an excellent result for this crappy ammo. I will be using PMC XTac for my range ammo. BTW even the WWB stabilizes at 100 yds. Going to try 300 yds this week.
The Rogue uses a heavier twist because it was intended to be used as a lighter weight hunting rifle. The Revolution was intended to be the battle rifle.
I know they had some QC problems after Frank's death. Along with the pistol version issues. Adding an adjustable gas block will help that. I've had mine almost 2 yrs, no probs. However, I can attest that it prefers higher quality ammo. Personally, my best results have been with the Hornady Super Performance ammo. 150g and up. The Rogue is what it is, and if you run higher quality ammo it does what it can. Good video.
@@MD-gq6iy After re-reading my comment- my statement of 150g and up/ and Hornady sp was kind of a run on sentence. Specifically I was meaning the Hornady sp was my best results, and anything above 150g does better with accuracy out of the Rogue( in my experience). Personal results wise- my Rogue has done sub moa (100yds) with Hornady superformance 165 grain sst. Used Vortex razor gen3 1x10. To be honest with you I'm not the best shooter. I had 2 guys that run the range I go to ( one shooting / one on spotter scope) achieve those results directly in front of me. I was considering getting rid of the Rogue and investing into a higher tier 308, because I was convinced the rifle was the problem and not me. So after they dialed it in for me and helped me understand some factors like projectile weight etc..and understanding MRAD better - I was very pleased with the rifle. Before hand shooting cheap ammo it was grouping 2"+ at best. Fun as hell to hit steel with, but not so much trying to thread the needle so to speak.
Had my Rogue pistol for a year. Its a 1/4 MOA gun with Wolf Steel case. Love it. Got a Rogue rifle too. The Rifle is a 1/2 MOA with PMC Bronze. Clean the barrel well and get some accuracy oil. Its great! Oh and the 1:8 barrel is better! You can shoot and sabalize sub. Sonic ammo with the 1:8.
Great video, brother. I've got the Revolution (PDriven) 308 in 16in, which had some issues cycling both suppressed & unsupressed. Eventually after 3 mods I got it to work (H5 heavy buffer, stiffer buffer tube, and then tuning the gas block to keep it from giving me over-gassed 1:00 ejects). To your point about the heavier ammo, even after 700+ rounds through my Rev, the gun seems to function most accurately and cycles properly (3:00 ejects) with 168gr and 175gr loads. Which as you said about the accuracy, confirms my own research and findings. I Also recently just picked up a limited edition Rogue upper from my buddy Jason at Central Florida Guns and Tactical that's done in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 14in barrel. So far I have had a perfect experience with this new shorty 6.5 CM and the accuracy is on point with almost any ammo I'm using. Everything from 95gr varmint loads up to 153gr Berger LRHT loads. The 95gr is the only one producing +/-2.5 MOA at 100yrds. The rest (110gr, 120gr, 125gr, 130gr, 140gr, 153gr) are +/-1.0 MOA at 100yrds. Which out of a 14in 6.5CM is shockingly accurate, given that I fully expected 2 - 3 MOA based on all the unburnt powder and potential destabilization of the bullets as a result.
The reason it ran more reliably with the steel cased ammo is because the gun is way over gassed and steel cased ammo is lower pressure. I took mine to a gun smith and had them drill off the gas block (They stake it so there's no way it's coming off without a drill press.) and replaced it with a superlative arms gas block. Fixed all the issues I had with the rifle. The accuracy issue is probably ammo related. With cheap m80 ball I get 2-3" ish groups but with reloads I get that down under 1". Also a 1/8 twist rate is just fine. 1/10 would have been fine too, but 1/12 is just too slow if you ever plan on shooting anything over 150gr. A faster twist doesn't affect accuracy. If it did, Q wouldn't be using a 1/3 for their 8.6 blackout and Sig wouldn't be using a 1/5 twist in their new MCX rifles.
Wrong on the buffer spring. The owners manual tells you not to do this as that is different as well as the buffer spring tube. Changing either can and will result in nonfunctioning and or damage to the firearm! The travel of the modified BCG is longer than the travel of the regular AR-15 BCG. This required a different tube and spring.
I got the revolution, even with the 1 in 10 twist rate it hates ~150gr bullets. I put some 168 in there and my groups went from 1.5-2" groups down to sub inch, I have not tried heavier. The only other complaint I have with the rifle is resting the magazine on the ground will cause malfunctions. I have only tested this with magpul mags and it was repeatable. I bought some Hex mags I was gonna try out and have some metal mags (not sure who made them)
I"ve shot several thousand rounds through the RevDI and I can confirm that SMK 168 is by far it's favorite bullet. Classic old Remington core lokt 165 actually shoots very well in the RevDI and it's usually quite affordable.
People need to take the time to understand that a lightweight 308 has fast sharp recoil. Cool to own but not quite fun to shoot. Especially in prone. I owned the Revolution DI and put 2000 rounds of various 308 through it. It's not nearly as controllable as a 5.56. YES light rifle but less practical due to crazy fast sharp recoil. You will deffinitely need to take time to adapt to it's recoil motion. Somewhat less practical as a defense rifle compared to 5.56 AR. I love the lightweight 308 AR but the 308 really need a heavier rifle to be practical in real life situations.
I think that the main problem with 7.62 NATO infantry rifles is that most of them are too heavy, and the ones that are lightweight produce an uncomfortable amount of recoil. With a 5.56 gun, it's easier to get away with a gun that is lightweight and light recoiling at the same time.
I have the Rogue and the recoil is very light. I shoot mag after mag at the range without recoil problems. It will not be confused with a 5.56, but it has actual stopping power. In good times I plan on 5.56 indoors and .308 outdoors. In SHTF it’s all about knock down ability, so .308 it will be.
This is a great, honest, down-to-earth review. I found some Russian steel case (Wolf 145gr) is more accurate than American brass (plinker trash M80) too. I think barrel quality is also a concern. My Criterion 16" 1-10 308 AR10-derivative gets
I'm not sure what the barrel nut, gas block and handguard options might be but I think the pistol version of the Rogue might be an ideal platform to build an 8.6 Blackout.
This rifle is specifically targeted toward the hunting market as such it uses a 1 in 8 twist to stabilize heavier hunting bullets. In addition if you shoot crap ammo you should expect crap accuracy.
Yep, Winchester white box is absolutely junk. Personally I want use Winchester ammo at all anymore. Just Federal, Barnes or Black Hills only these days.
I’ve had my Rouge for 3 months and shot 200 Norma tactical 147gr rifle was shooting 3.5 moa at 100yrd I am also in the process of trying other ammo eager to see what you discover I’ll let you know my findings as well!!
I've had very good luck with 168 smk's. I'm getting moa (or better) with a 1-4x optic when i do my part. Accuracy is good out to at least 400 which is the furthest I've tried with this rifle.
@@treyjackson8508 Interesting. Has their customer support been good so far? I've shot mine a couple more times and accuracy has been inconsistent. Some good or even great groups, some bad. I'm not an expert shooter but i can constantly shoot moa or better with several of my rifles so I'm a little confused by the inconsistency.
@@Lucas12v It hasn’t been amazing. They notified me when they received but haven’t got to work on it yet. It’s been almost a month I’ve emailed them 5 times they say to wait for the ticket to be updated.
I don't understand why they used 1/8 twist but mine does shoot very well with heavier match ammo. Lighter cheap fmj's shot very poorly though so it's not the best gun for blasting cheap ammo. Overall I'm happy though.
This was a honest review and the accuracy with lighter loads suffered because of the faster twist rate. To be expected but got it. I checked djgunner258's videos looking for a follow-up video of how the heavier heavier loads performed. There isn't one. This review is incomplete without the second part. I know the Rogue performs as expected with the heavier loads but does the audience watching this review? I can't like this video, it's incomplete.
I have one 168 and 175 hq ammo is sub moa. Cheap 150 is 2 to 3 moa. 1k ish rounds thus far dead reliable. It is a bit overgassed so a adj gas block is a good idea is you plan on going suppressed or shoot a lot. Mine currently has a 1-6 lpvo, light and sling, weight is 7 pounds 5 ounces. For what it is its amazingly light with incredibly little recoil. To me it is a modern scout rifle that can handle cqb to 600 meters with aplomb. Truly a jack of all trades.
I already have military grade .308's (Tavor 7 & HK91) but picked up a Rogue recently, and have yet to fire it. I knew it wouldn't be a true military grade rifle, but I wanted a lightweight and powerful rifle, easily carried, and if I can get 2 MOA I'll be fine with it. I'm mostly concerned with reliability. I will try heavier weights when I take it out.
I like this short and light rifle, would make an excellent hunting platform. I think the 1/8" is the only sad part about this rifle. I have a 16" Ruger SR762 1/10" twist and it favors lighter load because of the short barrel. If I try to load up heavier bullets they tend to lose a lot of energy. So with any 308 in a short barrel you really need 1/10" twist to get optimal performance in that 130 gr to 155 gr bullets. Also with a light weight rifle, you want those light bullets to reduce recoil. I wonder what other products or adaptations POF will do to this rifle, maybe 6.5 and hopefully fix the twist rate.
not an expert but it looks like the barrel twist 1:8 is the catch22,,,,perhaps replacing barrel would do the justice ? and if you choose it wisely you maight still have the lightest .308 ever while spending less than on Revolution,,,,or just go with Ruger SFAR=very little compromise with price around $1K
Had the Rogue for over 2 yrs now...168 match is a starting point for accuracy, currently running 220 gr open tip hand loads for sub MOA @100... Hated the stock, put a HERA Arms CQR on it and Franklin Binary with KawValley custom springs, went with a Spring Co silent capture buffer and it's a really nice shooter that packs lite ..think the Rogue starts off at 5.9 lbs VS my Wilson AR10 @ +9 lbs..
The reason they went with a 1:8 is to purposefully kneecap this rifle so people still buy their more expensive rifles. Hopefully a 3rd part will come along to manufacture better barrels or more calibers like 6.5 and 8.6.
I have the rogue pistol.... is embarrassing to call your company high quality, made in US parts. Mine, big gap between upper and lower, lots of play, rattles. Yes Is light, if you a hunter that like to stock, walk, always moving around.. is the right rifle for you.. But if you prefer quality, there's other manufacturers.
Today with my rouge I shot Federal GMM168 with a 2” group at 100yds and Federal Fusion 180 did almost the same I got a 1.5” group out of Winchester 180 soft point but I can’t seem to find anything the gun likes yet I’m used to making holes touch I’m about to give up on this rifle
@@treyjackson8508 Hopefully you'll get it figured out. I don't have a lot of rounds through mine yet but I'm liking it a lot so far. It's wearing a 1-4x right now but I'll probably drop some money on a 1-8x sometime. I just had the 1-4 already.
Hi, Any updates? I have a Rogue as well and am considering swapping the barrel for a 18”Revolution with a 1:10 twist. Not at all sure what the 1:8 is designed for as the 1:10 will stabilize all reasonable bullets in production for 308.
Not sure if it has been said in the comments. The specs on their website for the Rogue is a 1:10 twist rate as if 12/19/22. Not sure it’s a typo or they switched.
@@djgunner258 I emailed them and they sent me a link. To fill out a ticket and it gave shipping instructions. Then we emailed back and forth on updates.
I haven't gotten to shoot a whole lot of rounds. 175 SMK groups 1MOA, however 168 gr generic stuff still isn't grouping well. I would honestly get and SFAR
You can change the barrel yourself. It doesn’t need a pof barrel. Put a Faxon 16” .308 pencil barrel on it and try again. I built a 4lb 8oz Ar 308 with that faxon barrel and it shoots sub moa with quality and cheap 150g ammo.
