So glad I found this video! Literally just had a grp x5 blow out at 112mph. It kept drifting to the right and I still managed to get to 112 and it came apart and looks identical to that tire in your hand. Just trying to find the best tires to speed run

Well in my opinion any rubber belted tire has its limit for sure. I definitely wouldn’t Speedrun a tire that I’ve done donuts or burnouts with for sure. Grp is “for what they are” a good tire, however, if looking to Speedrun I would just use foams. I’ve had many foams chunk above 155+ mph and no crash. But if you lose a belted rubber… it’s all over guaranteed. Just started using BSR’s foams this season because what I use to run “sweeps foams” they went out of business. So far BSR’s have been holding up well on my hobao car. Vids are up on the runs so far. Hope this helps and thanks for checking out the video!👊👍👍

Yea it defiently stepped out on me very quick soon as that tire blew. I’ve got a set of BSR purples I’ve just been kinda scared to run them because I’ve never ran foams but from reading your input and the videos I’ve watched I’m fixing to give them a run. Thanks buddy. Keep up the videos🤙

I've wanted to try them but I'm happy with the sweeps foams they are working good and I can purchase them at my hobby shop so beats waiting or sending my rims to them to have them done. Maybe one day🤷‍♂️. 👍👍👍Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this info bro! GRP's are a bit of a gamble at them 140+ mark. Heck, I had the glue on one of the new upgraded version come undone at 126mph, although I think high heat may have been a factor. It was ~100F+ that day & the car sat in my trunk for a while before the run. Just want to make sure I got you right, the tires that blew were the newer release version? I used to run the rigid version of the old version tires. With the new version, I've only ran the regular wheels because I couldn't get the yellow wheels in the rigid type. Another thing I've noticed is that these new GRPs have been rubbing on the hubs leaving melted plastic around the hex slot of the wheel, I never had that issue before. Not with the old version or BSRs. Not sure if there's a tolerance issue with the depth of the hex hole on the wheels. I really wish there was a good rubber tire alternative out there. I have ran foams, but they chunk up too fast, expensive and don't last.

👍👍The last set I've (set4) purchased was in June maybe a week before making this video which are the set in the this video next to my coffee mug. Also the same (set4) in the 153mph blow out video. They had 4 runs on them, they were a new style rim and rigid the same as the set I had used on the truer (set2)Purchase about a month and a half prior. They (set2) had probably about 15 -20 runs on them BUT only 3 of those runs went in the 150's , 1-151mph and 2 150mph. I've only purchased 4 sets and 3 of which are in video. However the heat i agree played a major roll in the 153 blow out pass. It was definitely hot out and road temp was high , I also was running stock hinge pin holder in the rear . They seem to hold up better with a 0° in the rear...less drag less heat...since then I've only used foams. And I personally have made alot more runs on foams at higher speeds than I ever did with grps. (set3) are in the on board videos with my basher limitless.....way too soft and couldnt get a straight pass out of them over 115mph. I think 142-145 in cooler weather isnt to bad for GRP'S ,as with any rc tire theres always I believe a risk of failure at those speeds. But yes (set1) the black set in this video, had a ton of runs on them 40° and colder outside. Thanks for sharing the hub issue you have been dealing with👍👍good to know and I'll have look out for that in the future . Thank you for watching 👍👍👍👍👍 and hope it helps with the mystery of GRP'S lol

@@mitchellminer4596 Thanks for the info bud 😎👍 I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and upgrade my Limitless to a GT body from delta plastik & get back to riding foams once I get closer to them 140-150 mark, for now... Well, just trying to get past the 130 mark lol. 128mph PB so far. Gonna grab an SMC battery & either a range extender or the Radiolink RC6GS to get the extra range I need. Thanks again for the great info, God bless bro 😎👍

I’ve been upto 150 on Grp’s It’s a shame as they work really nice on the road where foams feel so loose. It’s Russian roulette.

Ya it does suck but once ya get the foams down the road good, you quit missing them....and that is not easy by no means! thanks for watching!

Good info👍… I’m making my decision on compound and tread. Idk why the slicks are 1mm thinner and 1mm shorter in height🤷‍♂️ also why the hole through the tire and rim with slicks? I hear that xm7 are still stickier and grippier than hoons, that accurate? I won’t be driving past 100mph any time soon BUT I do want to get to 100mph as fast as I can so I’m thinking xm4….🤔 I like the slick but not that it’s smaller than the REVO treaded ones, but that’s the info I read. Will the xm3 hold 100mph?

Heat is your enemy with the GRP’s and the softer you go on the compound , the more likely of having a blow out and I do have one set of the s3 treaded tire and traction is awesome! I’ve have run them till about 104-106 multiple times but wouldn’t ever take them further than that. Way to soft….the rigid XM4 slick are what I liked the most, and once they get warmed up they have good traction depending on road surface. But for 100mph runs only, I’d say you’ll be good with treaded, and the black rim in this video that blew out had a ton of passes on it probably at least 25 passes 110 -125. But never one pass after the other or continuously running . For100-110 I think you’ll be good, when they start pulling you know something is going down.
