No disrespect to Beyonce but the Broadway show itself just had that extra depth when a majority of the cast had natural African accents. I would love to relive that with the movie cast.
I used to listen to The Lion King on Broadway religiously on Spotify. This was my favorite song next to He Lives In You. To see this recording is just.. everything.
I adore the lion king. I went to go see it on broadway as a child and I remember how amazing it made me feel emotionally. My jt school did it last year for their musical. And I was on makeup. And ALL I WOULD SING WOULD BE THIS SONG ! And back stage, this was such a bop
I finally got to see the show on Wednesday after wanting to see it since I was a child. Janique was unbelievable. This song had every hair on my body standing on end, so powerful and so beautiful. What an incredible voice.
Yea I agree, what made the song haunting was the chorus of lionesses repeating "pride...land..." As though convincing her to stay, and her singing loudly that she had to, and them singing in support of her when she showed she had the strength for them.
So many goosebumps just listening to this! But when I heard it live for my 21st birthday a couple years ago it sent shivers down my spine!! This whole show is amazing and I’m so lucky that I was able to experience it!!❤️❤️
I love this video and song. I seen the lion king on Broadway twice already 1 time in Las Vegas in 2009 with my grandma and my aunt and 2nd time in Milwaukee with my mom and my sister few years ago this song makes me think of my grandma she's very sick now she went to hospice now. I'm sad I wish she won't die. but I know she probly will in like a week

Very nice, but I will forever think the original Heather Headley version is the best. I have listened to it in my car 2,000 times with volume cranking. So powerful.
Hey everyone, glad you liked the video. Here's a live performance of me singing this song, with a full choir and orchestra. Follow my page for more performances. :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EOc_WqCw_Wg.html

That’s a really nice performance of the song, but I really notice when the background singers are missing. The reinforcement effect is just gone making it feel a lot lighter. While that may be the effect desired, I would have loved to hear this with the reinforcement also. If not by additional background vocalists then by a follow in the instrumental of a similar tone. I may sound picky, but it’s the nature of this song. The lioness is leaving her pride to find help, so for a pure solo performance it breaks the nature as lions are together and splitting. To put it simply - who is she singing to? The backing singers in the original, relate to the pride and leaving them behind, it’s a group decision and the emotional situation is more understandable. So a follow up in the instrumental would have been a good option if you wanted a clear solo vocal. Either way, simply stunning vocals and a nice performance. The camera work is also quite well done.

She a fantastic singer and actress, but i got one question. How long does all that make up take to put on? And does that lion mask/helmet thing ever make your neck hurt?
Is there a way to get this backing track to use as a karaoke? I have been trying to find a karaoke version of this song that only needs the soloist and I love the acoustic arrangement of this song.
