Two major things you’ve got completely wrong. The car at the beginning was a blue one. The car that followed Ronda the jogger was brown. Different vehicles with different plates. The second is that Deke doesn’t say ‘lucky boy’ when Albert hands fast food to the prostitutes. He says: ‘You don’t know how lucky y’all are’ He’s saying that because he believes they just potentially survived an interaction with a serial killer.

So, I agree with your review overall, all but the beginning that is. The boots that the attempted abductor is wearing are like Deakes, they are like Sparmas, they are just boots. If you watch that man walk he does not have the same build as Deake. He does not have a limp likes Sparma. You can see at one point he is a white male with a shaven face and glasses. But more importantly, the license plate to his car is 2FAN321. If you watch close enough you will notice that when Deake pulls in to the Los Angeles police department that in the parking lot close to the entrance there is a late model Mercedes either white or yellow that has the exact same California plate of 2FAN321. So what does that mean? Is the killer a cop? There are a great deal of unanswered questions in this movie, and I think that is the point.

The tape in the killer bag was the same type of tape that was hanging up to the left of the the forensic guy that was putting on his mask getting out the van noticed how the camera zoomed on him from the time he puts his mask on til he walked into the building and he just happened to walk by Deke and Baxter conversation at the time when Deke says “ you still have to catch him right”. This movie was was designed for the viewers to focus on the big 3 while all alone dropping lil clues of the actual killer being in plain site. And also that red glare that’s over the big 3 on the movie cover means that they all have done some dirt but Sparma is parallel from them cause he did a different type of dirt. Noticed while the forensic guy puts on his mask that red glare from the lights flashes behind him as if it’s to alert the viewers that he’s the killer.

I read the original script (first written in the early 90's before Seven) and I can safely say that Albert is NOT the killer. Neither is Deke and neither is Baxter. The killer was seen at the beginning of the film (but not at the beginning of the script, that scene occurred much later but was moved up) and he was doing a specific type of bird call (as described in the script). At the end of the film after Denzel closes his door, we hear the sound of the bird echoing in the canyon meaning the killer is still alive and out there.
@djd620
@djd620 Год назад
@psgc Try to keep up. In the original script, the killer is still out there. He makes an unusual bird call at the beg and end of the script, letting us know he's alive and well. Albert is not the killer.
@djd620
@djd620 Год назад
@psgc OK let me try again and this time I'll spell everything out for you. In the ORIGINAL SCRIPT, the opening scene from the film (chasing the girl) is on Page 38-39 or so. In that sequence, the girl is hiding in the desert and she hears the Killer (from the sedan chasing her) do a "Bobwhite" bird call. That's what the script says. Cut to the end of the script. Deke (Denzel) goes into his house and the script ends on "WE hear a BOBWHITE call." The End. In other words, the Killer is alive and well and (presumably) taunting Deke. You are going according to the film, I'm going according to the script. Obviously changes were made from script to screen. The opening scene in the script is the Jogger with the red berrette stalked by the Killer. Hope this clears it up for you.

this is my opinion on the film: as denzel burns all of Sparma's possessions, he throws away a brand-new pack of barrettes with the red one missing... which means he did not find it in sparma's bags,he bought it and sent it to rami just to save him and add more confusion... this movie is not about "solving crimes" its just about the pressure on cops to solve cases quickly making mistakes covering them up and live with guilt until their life is ruined in an on going cycle...that's what danzel is trying to break

Goodness that ending was a twist I never saw. I honestly taught Jim was about to get hammered to death and Sparma would, in turn, get the satisfaction of being a winner. This film is in the style of 'TightRope', one of the first films where the 'good guys' & 'bad guys' weren't clearly defined, as had been the tradition up til then. Clint Eastwood played a cop, tracking a serial killer, but by the end of the film, the audience is left with a strong possibility that Clint's character was actually the killer. Cut & dried good & bad guys is way more successful at the box-office, but I kinda like it being more nebulous, as happens often in real life.

Obviously we will never know the true ending but personally I think that Jared Letos character had a brother, possibly a twin but with just shorter hair and no beard which is why the witness was really staring at him when he was walking by, also it could explain why he's following the murders so close because he's following what his brother is doing, he could also be the one that's buying and getting rid of the old cars. It's also a possibility that he helps his brother find victims with the way they show him buying food for the hookers, perhaps he becomes "friends" with him and he leads them to his brother, also showed him walking into the diner that was advertising roast beef which is what the last victim had in her stomach even though she was a vegetarian, plus who was the person that Letos character knows that has that giant plot of land at the end of the movie?? One thing that makes me think its Deacon is that he knew what the Barrette looked like. The fact that he had to buy one shows it wasn't in the suspects apartment. @roudy4607 3 года назад
My thoughts exactly! How did Deacon know what the red barrette look like? In the photo of the missing jogger - it didn't show it. The boots were also a dead give away. The only scene that didn't make any sense to me was the one where the maid and the manager/owner of the hotel found all of Deacon's things he'd left on the bed (the dead girls photos - the boots - the reports/newspaper clippings) Why leave them in the hotel room for the only person who could possibly identify you? It would have been more gripping/chilling to burn them along with everything else. Also, Deacon shot the girl the got away from him. That was my first thought. Why they said he had a nervous breakdown - IDK. To throw us off perhaps. He (Deacon) was calculating. I really enjoyed the movie. Everyone seemed a bit crazy!

Heres my take... The killer is one of two options: He’s either not a character shown in the movie at all OR it is Sparma. Regardless, I think we’re focusing on the wrong thing. The point of the movie was not to definitively tell us who it was, but rather to leave us in the dark...wondering, just like maleks character. Did he kill an innocent man or did he get his guy? Thats up to each and every viewer to decide for themselves.

Deek's the killer. His facial expressions give it away. 1. At the murder scene, when he goes to the opposite apartment he realizes that someone witnessed the killing - his facial expression. 2. When Albert asks "How's the trunk space" Deek realizes that Albert knows he's the killer and Albert was possibly the one who witnessed the killing from the opposite apartment - watch Deek's facial expression when it dawns on him that Albert knows he's the killer. That's also the reason btw why he wanted to go to Albert's apartment...to look for any evidence Albert had against him. Albert might have been stalking and following him for years...He idolizes Deek. 3. When he shoots the third victim. When she falls she looks at him and whispers "you" - His facial expression again isnt that of an honest cop who just shot a victim, but that of a killer tying up loose ends. There are many more clues (a) how did he know what the red barrette looked like (they come in many shapes) (b) He's a master at getting rid of evidence etc

Your points are also consistent with perhaps the biggest clue - how did Parma know which segment of the freeway to be at, when that information wasn't leaked to the press? In accordance with the great points you brought up, it must have been Deke that dumped the evidence/bodies and Parma must have been stalking him at a distance and knew the location. There was also the cut scene with Deke clearly wearing "nice boots" in Parma's apartment. "Nice boots" are what the killler supposedly wore.

That doesn't make sense. If there was really someone else watching the murder from across the street Deacon has no way of knowing of that person is morally good or evil so if he's the killer he would have to find them and kill them before they can report what they saw to the police, that doesn't happen. I believe he could still be the killer but it wasn't just some rando across the street it was him, like he said reveling in his kill. He pushes the mantra that it's "the little things" he wouldn't leave that to chance

You hinted it was Deke with the stalkers boots on that looked like Deke's. No way. I think it was the freaky repair man. Just the frustration of not getting enough evidence, knowing he's the killer and being played like a fool so outrageously that sent him over the edge. It was a HUGE mistake to get in the car with him. Deke made a tragic error that he shouldn't have covered up. Its understandable given the circumstances but, a cop can't panic like that. And a cop can't be stupid or hard headed enough to get in a car with a suspect like that. More of a study on the pressure put on homicide detectives and the reality of human frailties. He was our guy. Scary Deke could cover up a murder so well. Neither should ever be homicide detectives again. Really liked the movie.

Guys it’s the forensic guy that puts on the mask in the crime scene van and lead into the building. All the forensic guys had on white gloves, the killer put white gloves then thick black Nitrile gloves from what it looked like. His body frame matches the killer and Pay close attention to how the camera focused on him from the time he puts on the the masks til he walked in the building. During the time he puts on the mask there’s a roll of tape that’s hanging up to the left of him, the same type of tape that was in the killer bag. Also the red glare from the lights flashes behind him just like just the red glare around the big 3 on both of the movie covers. That red glare means they have done some type of dirt. And while the guy was going into the building he passed by Deke and Baxter right when Deke said “ you still have to catch him right” it was perfect timing. Another thing too is when Deke was in his truck at light that same brown car that followed Ronda was across the street from him. Pay close attention to the brown car top, it’s light brown. During that time a crime scene van drove through followed by a police car. It’s literally the little things. Also Angel numbers 450 and 4242 is the movie and it’s apart of Dekes character. I’m sure it’s more numbers in the film but those were the ones I picked up on. 450 is from the conversation Deacon had with restaurant owner and 4242 is Dekes ex wife address.
