Thank you for all the kind birthday wishes. Seen a few people ask where they can watch the series and towards the end of the video I did mention the websites. If you check the description box I added links for 2 websites that have fansubbed the entire series.

My complaint of sailor moon crystal: 1-Usagi never spent time with her family 2-People literally died in s3 and no one talks about it 3-some villains might not deserve to die 4-s3 ep6 should’ve focus more on Pluto 5-Naru never find out that usagi is sailor moon(which was teased back in s2) 6-they never created a new story, instead they reused the exact Same stories over, and over

PGSM was my SHIT as a kid. I watched both the anime and the live action but I fell absolutely in love with the live action version. Live action Ami was my absolute favourite. I related to her so much as a shy kid who struggled to make friends.

FUN FACT: Miyuu Sawai nearly did not get the part of Usagi, but with the persuasion of Naoko Takeuchi, Sawai got the part! Miyuu's voice and mannerisms is like Usagi!
@SBaby
@SBaby 11 дней назад
Miyuu was literally channeling Usagi during the show. It was almost scary how accurate she was playing her. I remember being skeptical watching the first episode, because I wasn't too sure about their hair being a different color in their civilian form. But then in one of the first scenes, we get Usagi falling down the stairs, and I'm like, 'Nope. She's definitely Usagi'.

I'm so glad to see PGSM getting more attention from the wider fandom! I regard it as the definitive version & love how it allowed the characters tp grow & develop in ways not seen in other iterations. One thing I heard is the reason the "Darkury" arc came about is because Rika Izumi was thinking of leaving the show to prepare for highschool entrance exams & the showrunners enticed her to stay by giving Ami a bigger role. It sux that no sources exist to verify this but I find it very interesting as it was just a way to avoid recasting lead to my favorite subplot in the whole franchise (& my favorite ship)
@MoonlightMirage
@MoonlightMirage 2 года назад
I also wanna chime in because, I'll be honest, it's also an interesting nod to what Luna had feared before Ami became Mercury in the first place. Rmember how Luna thought that Ami may have been a Youma or some other entity working for the Dark Kingdom? Act 20/21 of PGSM finally kicks in, and Ami IS working with the Dark Kingdom. ...but Darkury's transformation sequence was probably the most low budget of all of the PGSM transformations. And that sucks.
@reneemorton4904
@reneemorton4904 2 года назад
@@MoonlightMirage I never thought of that before & its very interesting, tho I don't think Darkury was thought of that far ahead but the concept of corrupted senshi isn't new to the SM canon. One of the PGSM writers admitted in a post-series interview they didn't know for certian if Minako was going to die from her mystery illness. The plot seemed to be consistently evolving which is why I love PGSM so much above other iterations. And I love the low budget graphics :3

Definitely my favourite version of Sailor Moon, and the one I recommend to people unfamiliar with the series. Rei's actress always stood out to me amongst the cast as the most accomplished, so its great to know Kitagawa's career is doing well. I'm not surprised that Komatsu wasn't familiar with Sailor Moon before PGSM, I don't think she'd be as convincing as Mean Sailor Venus if she knew her character from the anime/manga. Its really nice to hear that the actors all had input into their characters
@camilaibanez660

I really love how you analized this series, Pgsm is very special to me as i watched it when i was on my early teens. I'd like to add some fun facts i recently find out, Ayaka, who was Venus a few years ago spoke a bit more about her experience working on pgsm, she says that during her audition she was supposed to demostrate sporty abilities and she tried to show off she was good at tennis due she played it when she was in school but she ended making a mess breaking things and surely thought she ruined it but later on she received the call that she did got the part as Minako and looking back she belives it was thanks to it that she got it 😅 and smth that she recalls is once they were chosen, Naoko talked to all the girls and she remembers that she told her that she was so sure she was the right choice to be Minako since quoting her "Every time she saw her she could picture her as Venus, she felt as her drawings have truly come to life" though Ayaka at first wasn't that familiar to the sailor moon franchise she eventually has really kept herself involved on it, besides that the 5 girls are still friends and somehow everytime they see each other they always anknowledge happily who they were in pgsm, i wonder if it's due to what Naoko itself told them that they might have a special care for those character they once played. But also Ayaka was the only one so far who went to a Anime convention on 2019 in Brazil and she says she was surprised how much people outside Japan did recognize her and how welcoming and lovely they were and seeing footage i could see she was really happy to see people singing her songs and gladly answered as many questions as she could. I wish more people give it a chance to this series since i believe it did captured so well the essence of love and truly friendship that the Sailor Moon story was meant to be and how that even has impacted on those who were involved on that project.

Nicely done! I also liked the pseudo-schizophrenic Usagi / Princess Serenity take. It was the adult story that made it worth wading through the cheese. Usagi coming to the realization that she embodies the potential destruction of the Earth within her was great. And that march forward scene where she deflected attacks with her sword like they were nothing was awesome. Even live-action Luna was adorable considering she was so young and that it could have come off badly.

I love your vdeo, I really do. Sailor Moon is my favorite franchise, it holds a very special place in my heart and this version is my all time favorite. I remember when it was announced back in 2002/2003 I think, I was 12/13 and I was both excited and fearful. I watched the transformation of Usagi and thought that it looks both accurate and charming and yet bad and low budget. I was afraid that the show would turn into a total camp show for 5 yo girls but I still watched it every week, as a fansub group started uploading the episodes a mear day after it aired in Japan. The first version of every episode's sub was totally half assed but a week later it was reuploaded in a more polished way. I was surprised of every turn the show had, with every passing episode it deviated further from the source material but it was done right. BTW you didn't elaborate the relationship of Usagi and Mamoru, this is the only version of Sailor Moon were it's believable that they fell in love for reasons beyond their past lives. They really are compatible as a couple. Usagi's altruism and desire to help everybody combines perfectly with Mamoru's cld headed way of always seek for a solution for any given problem, and while Usagi's teaches Mamoru to open up, Mamoru help Usagi to grow up.

I love the new take on all of the characters and I'm especially fond of the sheer effort and care that went into characterising the five leads. I love PGSM! Though the special effects aren't good, the story is amazing (especially later on) and it has the best character developement of all adaptations. I also love how it doesn't really have useless filler episodes, where a character is introduced that will never show up after that episode again (like in the 90s anime). Every episode something important happened. It's a pity so many fans don't know about it, or don't wanna watch it, because of the effects. 6:50 - Yeah, and for someone who claimed to not have much acting experience, she did a fantastic job with Sailor Venus. This is especially true, given what the show ends up doing with her character. 9:50 - The hair color thing was probably both a cost cutting measure and also it was likely influenced by Pretty Cure, since that show was going at the time and it was another Magical Girl franchise where the characters would change their hair colors and even the lengths of their hair when they transformed.

Freaking awesome to see a PGSM Live Action video in 2023/2024. Despite some people's perception, PGSM was an amazing, mature adapation of the anime/manga. The storyline was well-paced and heartwrenching. I loved each individual character arc and enjoyed how they had a second chracter arc focus in the later half of the series. IT IS a beautiful TRIBUTE to Sailor Moon, it was SO EPIC that until now NOBODY dares to produce a LIVE ACTION of Sailor Moon again 🌙🌙⭐I imagine they would do a series with Spectacular Effects, but they COULD not beat these ICONIC performances.

I may have only caught 1 anime episode in my whole childhood (and I can't even remember what channel, I think it was channel 4 saturday morning 1 time in the 2000's) But i'm getting snacks to watch this documentary for a sentai of a maho shojo show

Starting at minute 6:03, in those shorts clips from the interviews of the actresses, they have Atomic Kitten's Right Now song on the background. So 2000's! Long time I haven't listen to that song.

Also watching the girls behind the scenes re-watch their takes is so cute, charming, and endearing they truly look like they’re enjoying it and not taking themselves too seriously at all. Seems like a great work environment

The cast's interactions with each other look really like Usagi and friends even when they're outside their character. So perfect! I love PGSM. The story was so solid and I don't mind the ballet-fu. It sets them apart from other sentai shows.

I’m kinda surprised they haven’t tried to do a live action pretty cure series. If they can pull it off like PGSM (with better CGI of course) I bet it would be great.

Wow, two for two! (Just watched a previous review from a younger fan) As a PGSM fan for YEARS who owns a bit of merchandise from the series, I'm happy to see people finding about it now. I wish we could do a reaction series in the future, but...I feel like it would get taken down fast. Anyway, I'm bookmarking this to see it later

Where did you find all those behind the scenes and making of videos from PGSM? 15:04 was an interesting insight into how difficult it was to film some scenes, especially with those shoes on the slippery surface. Great video, by the way. I'm a fan of PGSM, too. The actresses did a remarkably dedicated job.

I remember watching this years ago when it was super hard to find any episodes. Might have to go back and rewatch it. Would love for them to do a remake or do another show with other Arcs from the Manga

Say what you want about the ballet style of fighting, but it instantly makes Sailor Moon look way more competent as a fighter than her other counterparts, and it gives something to pull from if they ever decide to do another video game adaptation

Happy Birthday!!! I actually learned about PGSM through random Google searches when I was bored, and the only spoiler I knew of (but didn't know it was PGSM) was that Sailor Mercury turns evil into Dark Mercury. I have also never read the manga, only ever seen the anime, so if that happens in the manga then I am none the wiser lol While trying to watch the first act, I couldn't do it... it was too cheezy and the CGI was just awful, I stopped halfway though. I tried again later with some alcohol... nope, couldn't do it. A few weeks later I tried again, sat through it. And then episode 3 hit, like you said that was the first hook. After that it was hook, line, and sinker. I kept comparing it to the first season. And after a while I was just like "Well that's not right", "that didn't happen", "wtf", "WTF". I almost RAGE QUIT when Minako was convincing everyone that SHE was the Princess. I was just sitting here thinking... THAT'S TOO BIG of a change! NOPE! Thankfully I didn't quit. This series made me laugh, this series made me cry my eyes out, the final episodes were brutal (and the most poignant was when Mars KNEW Venus was gone and was holding everything back... that scene just makes me fucking cry it's heartbreaking. The movie was great, I always hated Kuroki Mio, sucks that Mars was barely in it because of FATF but I get it. Also... KUROKI MIO! New fucking villain, totally new, easily hateable. I love and HATE her. On that note, Sailor Luna!!!!!!!!!!!! I figured she was a live-action stand-in for Chibi-Moon but damn I love her. This series was fucking genius, I love it and always will. This was live action done right. Take Notes!

My best friend downloaded desk and gave it to me as a birthday present I was instantly fell in love with the show on how beautiful how different it is and said fun there is an action show that girls can like and relate to I guess why they didn't want it dubbed or beliefs in other states because of the americanisation they did before and look what they did
@Aishyo
@Aishyo Год назад
That's a very real possibility. Especially If we take a look at similar tokusatsu shows that made it to the USA and how they weren't subtitled or dubbed over but were completely transformed into a new entity. Super Sentai became Power Rangers, Juukou B Fighter became Big Bad Beetleborgs, Jikuu Senshi Spielban and a few others became VR Troopers and Kamen Rider became Masked Rider. I would've thought by now Toei would have put out an official subtitled version on their RU-vid but no. Thankfully we have fansubs
