It’s funny you said queen bed! Our first boat we bought, 1988 Chris Craft 381 and it has a king size bed. As our 3 kids are getting older, we started looking at maybe going bigger but it’s hard to find boats with king size beds. I feel the boat is not real sporty looking, but the boat has so much comfort room aboard.

I'm considering this as a singleton simply because it is a more affordable option than home buying. I'm very low budget though (under 50k), and a complete boat novice. So finding a slip that has come to you pump out will be a need. I've lived in a 23 foot skoolie for the last four years, so small living isn't an issue. I plan on fresh water, river or lake, though. My next step is learning the upkeep charges for things I can't do myself! Really like the channel, will stay tuned :)

Any suggestions on locating a marina slip to place a boat? Any marina you really like? What was your process to get permission to live aboard? We are liking moving the coast and looking at living aboard. In the summer we are on our boat 3-4 days of the week and loving being on the boat and the at the marina. Love the channel!

I have an 87 3207 I live on, bought it a year ago, or be homeless, it was abandoned, so it's ALOT of repair, but an aft cabin is the way to go. I travel for work so I'm usually only there for 10 or 12 days, but I love it. Unless I have to work on the black water system. That's awful. Reminds me, I need to order that toilet rebuild kit

I've seriously been considering the live-a-board lifestyle. I visit San Diego so often and I'm from Arizona. I love being on the water and from what I know, I won't own any true real-estate unless it's a boat. Which I don't mind, it's a dream lifestyle. But coming from out of state.. what can I possibly do for a job to make this happen in San Diego? What kind of boats should I research, and What should I avoid? Thank you if you have the time to reply!
@TheSeaYallLife
@TheSeaYallLife Год назад
Thanks for watching! Hard to answer job question without more information, but we CAN tell you the SD job market is good. As far as boats, I would research all kinds of boats in your price range! We prefer motor boats, and more specifically, trawlers. But many people are quite happy living in sailboats, which have less space but are generally more affordable. Best of luck and keep us posted!

I have. I have a 32 foot, twin gas engine inboard that I have stayed on for 2 or 3 months during the summer. I live in Ohio, USA. And I have thought about moving aboard and going south for the winter and back up north in the summer.. My question is simply, is that practical.? Is it costly to live on the boat compared to having house payments taxes and insurance plus the boat costs that I'm already paying.??
@TheSeaYallLife
@TheSeaYallLife Год назад
Living on a boat is definitely less expensive than living in a house with payments, taxes, and insurance. Things break a lot more on a boat than they do in a house in our opinion, however, it’s still a lot less expensive and it sounds like a very practical idea to pursue!

I guess first question is, what BOAT mistakes did you make? or choices wish you made? I mean, what features of your boat do you need, that are missing, and what features of your boat do you not need? Specifically about your OWN boat choices.
@TheSeaYallLife
@TheSeaYallLife Год назад
We’ve made plenty of mistakes… In fact, I think we make new ones each week. 😜One choice that we’ve never regretted was buying a classic trawler even though it does require repairs very frequently. It is an excellent liveaboard boat! We definitely are missing some modern conveniences, but we are able to live fine without most of them. Plus we have so much room that we were able to add an extra refrigerator in an icemaker to the flybridge… An icemaker is definitely a must have on a boat!

Sorry, We lived aboard for 2 years, travelled feom Great Lakes to Southern Bahamas and Florida keys, to me live aboard life is not living in a Marina, we were on the hook almost 100% of the time. We loved being on the water all the time, loved the active style but it is a lot more challenging being a true liveaboatd (on the hook). Finding places to get to shore and bike to stores is a challenge be ause we did not pull into marinas to do this, we did it from the anchorage we were in. Storms were a dislike, on the water wind and weather always a thing to watch and while underway you have to know where the nearest safe harbor is. We loved the life bit it is not easy and after two years we decided we had the experience we dreamt of and gave it up. Yes, we could have hopped marian to marina but to us, that was no different than living on land, on the hook, the real live aboard life!
