Happy anniversary Jocelyn! Hood topic! I see more faux locs than natural. But it’s okay if it fades as a trend… then it will return to the folks that are really in for the journey, the culture, the loc life.

Happy Anniversary from Kansas City MO So glad I was able to watch this.....you touched on an issue I've been thinking about....where the parts have to be suuuper crisp edges laid etc....I love my frizz and embrace when the parts aren't so visible. I long for a community that speaks of a spiritual type journey over the commercialism of the culture! Bravo to your insight and content. You've restored my faith tonight.....that I am not alone.

I am seeing a trend where a lot of RU-vid owners are combing out their locs to try something “new.” They weren't on the journey because of the culture but to use the culture to get views. I've been unsubscribing left and right the last few days 👋🏽👋🏽bye bye

Happy Anniversary 🎊 !! MacTown in the house (Macon, GA) !! I am seeing some younger people switching up....but as a women who started her locs about 3 years ago at 57..l am embracing what the Most High gave me!! I love my hair!! Wearing my 4c hair in locs is the best thing that ever happened to me and my hair!! #freedom #ancientpath #frizzy #lumpylocs #itsmyculture

It’s a personal choice whether locs are spiritual or a simply a style.

Thank you. For some of us it's not that deep. I have locs because they are sexy and i feel super confident with them. Something about locs and lingerie just mesh so perfectly together

Happy Anniversary ❤Its a life style journey for me. Unfortunately, for the trend style getters, they are missing out on the spirtual, health, mental and inner most aspects of the body, mind and soul. ❤

Congrats 😊 Happy anniversary! I can't wait to see the day when locs are no longer a trend, and the girlies no longer emphasize having to lay the edges down

Honestly I’m going on two years with mine and I do agree with it losing the cultural significance. As a dude for the longest I respect folks with locs love being around them seeing how spiritual they are with locs and stuff like that back home in Jamaica. Now I’m noticing people just looking for a look or a style with no real meaning so that’s why most people just won’t take the time to enjoy the journey.

Yes! No apologies needed sis I feel this conversation so much!! The journey is so important!!! But some people make us feel like we’re hating or jealous because we encourage the “old fashioned/original way” of starting locs 🙄Nah… y’all are missing out on the best part 🤷🏽‍♀️ and I really hope the trend is coming to an end. I’m tired of seeing everybody with instant locs lol From Phx, AZ ☀️

Hi I do agree with you wholeheartedly. I believe it has become more of a fad. But just like someone else said, I see quite a bit of faux locs with rounded ends on every loc. Anyone with real locs know not every loc is exactly the same on your head. They are not all the same length either.. I am on my second set of locs and this set is different from the first.

Happy Anniversary ❤ I definitely feel locs are trendy. But I agree with you that locs has lost its cultural significance. I’ve had my second set of locs for over four years and I see more and more people having locs which is great to see in the UK.

Yes, I believe that the trendiness of loc’s is fading away into the reality that loc’s are totally unique likened unto fingerprints no matter the style they are worn long or short and are here to stay!

#Replay Happy Anniversary. I'll be glad when the popularity of locs go away and the real ones own locs again. I hate the faux locs n all that fake stuff...especially the unnatural curly ends n slicked back edges, RIDICULOUS!!!

Happy anniversary! I think commercialized, synthetic locs that you buy in packs are a trend that will eventually wear off. I also think locs won't satisfy everybody, so over time, folks will comb out or cut off and less people will be wearing them.

First of all, you look gorgeous 🥰. I love sweatshirt and the glasses. I agree 100 % with everything you said. I’m almost 4yrs locked and I’m loving it. I’m keeping the regardless if everyone treats it as a trend. I was supposed to lock in 2012, went for the consultation and everything, but I wasn’t reassured for the commitment at that time.

Please someone, explain what the "journey" means? I'm almost two years loc'd and I think it's a "process". One that is so worth it, to watch your hair form this miraculous transformation! Please don't come at me... for this question of understanding.😊

Great insights. I combed out my first set of locs in 2009 because it was getting (imo) too commercialized and living in ATL at the time it seemed like everyone had locs. I can see now there is definitely a cycle and the pendulum will hopefully swing back to folks having a more appreciation for cultivating locs and not just a style

Happy Anniversary! Don't worry - every few years "they" claim locs are a trend/fad. Some of us aren't having it. Some never embraced it. I could be wrong but not one sistah on any Real Housewives, Love and Hip Hops, Basketball Wives or any Tyler Perry joint are wearing dreadlocks. But some of us are wearing them for life!!

AUG2021 My loc journey began. The original or the natural will always remain strong 💪🏾. I am thinking of the term “ how it is grown out of our scalp.” It is what it is. How we choose to manipulate what grows out of our scalp is our choice. I’ve manipulated mine most of my life. I thought it was going to be difficult but it isn’t. I’m double your age and I’m at the point of let’s keep it simple. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Happy Anniversary I seen around me that more people are getting locs right now almost every other person have locs I believe the reason why people become so obsessed with locs many expect neat locs cause some people think they’re not acceptable unless they’re really neat some people gotten them cause it was a fashion trend and those are the ones who after a few years they were ready to cut them off for the others they kept them or started over again that’s what I been seeing
