You guys really are the best game dev team I've witnessed in my 36 years of life. You are really listening to the community and so far are making some amazing decisions! This is one of if not my very favorite game of all time. I am patiently waiting to see a one of a kind finished project...but no rush ;) Doing things right never means doing them quickly. Guys, you gotta be placed in a Hall Of Fame of game developers! It's so rare when dev's are delivering really awesome content this days, but you are solid as rock in this one! I've payed for this game once, some long time ago, and had an experience so great and unique, that I can't explain it. But what's more important then that - from that very first moment, you every now and often deliver and provide me with tools for even better new experiences! I can't stress out enough, how cool previous update was, but this last one ... omg, it's just unbelievable! You guyz rock! I would sell my heart and soul for you!

I absolutely love this game and love how dedicated the team behind it is to regular updates and fixes. I do want to know if there are any plans for more weapons in the future though ( perhaps an old double barrel shotgun or revolver to compliment the current rifle). again great work guys!! love the game and can't wait to test out this update ASAP

You can't read in the dark unless you have some source of light such as a fire or lantern. I have found that you can go outside when the game says "less than 1 hour of darkness remains" and find that there is enough light to read. Sometimes a surprising amount of light yet you can't read indoors.

This is a game that I took a gamble on, as I don't typically have much faith in the early access community. I could tell that it was going to be something that stood apart from the sea of games that would never be finished or that would over promise, but under deliver. It has been close to 10 months since the last time I played this game and from watching this video I can tell it's totally different from The Long Dark that I played then. I am very excited to play this again and I am very impressed with what I've seen thus far.

what i would love to see is an option to host/connect to games with friends small groups of course. (no more than 3) would allow you to cover more ground but make it harder to manage food and resorces.

This game and its developers truly warm my heart. It's so unique, as are the people working on it. Triple A developers could definitely learn something from these guys; they seem to truly love their audience, listens to them, and takes the player base's opinions and suggestions into account without sacrificing their own fantasy for the game in the process. Keep doing what you're doing, Hinterland Studio.

Devs should considering adding craft-able fire pits & caches. I know this isn't exactly a base-building game, it encourages exploration (they even added cabin fever to prevent players from holing up in a cabin), but it would be great if the devs can add in some utility stuff such as drying racks for meat, tanning racks to cure the pelts faster etc.

Bug reporting (gameplay) - invisible climbing rope. If you get on to one of the 'rest' ledges (easily done if you carefully drop down a cliff face) - an option to grab the mountaineering rope appears, even if there's no rope attached. You can then climb this invisble rope to the bottom.

I just got the email today, "Story Mode Progress: August Update", and I am so happy. I didn't want to read much of it where I would dodge the spoilers. But, I see you are making progress, and I used to HOLD MY BREATH, waiting for Story Mode, but then I realize that (with it taking little longer than expected) -- that I wanted to be alive when it did come. So, I quit holding my breath. Just Kidding. Love your work, love TLD, and am waiting MOMENT-BY-MOMENT for your Team to get it to us. I also had to quit playing TLD because I didn't want to find all the locations and stuff to SPOIL THINGS. I am staying as virgin as I can, because I know (I KNOW IN HEART OF HEARTS) that you have a great product waiting to come out. And, all of us (as loyal fans) cannot wait. Take your time, but do get it out eventually. Thanks, DBF

I played the test of this update and absolutely loved it. One question about the snow shelter, are you able to use and shoot the rifle while in the snow shelter?

*Thank you guys for this SUPERB game. Bravo.* Been playing for two years now. Such an awesome game that just keeps on giving. It's my forever game. Slow paced, like real life, but still thrilling and exhilarating! Working on 'Whiteout' now. I almost beat it the first time. I had everything but enough food. I had depleted the area and most of Mystery Lake of all the food. Tried to kill a bunch more wolves and catch fish but I just couldn't get enough. I only had 'ten' shells left so I had to wait for wolves to bleed out. Had to keep eating the food to survive so I couldn't ever get that balance up. In the end. I was down to just 4.3 days of food, lol. My game also seemed to throw more adversity at me the closer I got to beating WO. There was that island bear who suddenly decided to come inland at the end to make my universe miserable, or maybe it was the logging trail bear but he seemed to come from the lake. I realized I wouldn't beat 'Whiteout that time. So I decided to go out by bear maul, but I did try to kill it first. Shot him about three times but he wouldn't go down. And that's how I let the gameplay die, death by bear. Deja vu. Back to the drawing board, lol.

I was hoping you'd make brandishing consume stamina instead of fatigue. It made no sense how waving a stick could serve as a substitute for an anesthetic.

Sadly there is no animation, when a wolf attacks you in your shelter you just magically pop out.

Amazing work as always guys, I can't wait to download this update! One of the best games I've played in a long time. You guys should really think about putting different seasons in the game and with it different animals/weapons etc etc, basically don't stop expanding the game!! can you add knife hunting? like you become the predictor and sneak up on a sleeping animal. Also the bola. The rope with weights on it, thrown at the animal to tangle it's legs and stop it from moving.

Love this game, full support. Only, now the snow easily reflects moonlight (which is realistic, i know), It just seemed darker before all the updates. Still love it.

Will there be an option to temporarily disable feat effects (hopefully individually), or reset them? Seems like a neat addition but it would be hard to have competitions with yourself or other players if you can't ever get back to the starting game conditions. I'm definitely in favor of having to earn them the first time though. Keeps looking better and better! Thanks for all the hard work. This game is so... intimate I think is a good word.

This is handsdown the best realistic survival game ever. I can't wait for more regions and gameplay options. Hopefully the next one will be as big as pleasant valley but with less buildings so you will have to survive in the wilds. And as gameplay option a sanitymeter that will make you halucinate a bit because surviving all alone has its toll on people and it can be restored by talking to people(story mode) or reading books by the fire. Keep up the great work guys!

When i started the game it was already on that update and honestly the skills feel really good, except maybe fire starting which you kinda have to grind to upgrade. The problem is that the best way to upgrade it is to light branch one by one waiting each time that the fire end. other than that the skills feel pretty natural and rewarding. On the other hand you might want to nerf the low level of some skills like fishing and skinning so that it makes finding books more rewarding, and when you are trying something you know nothing about you are actually investing your time trying to learn how it works first even if it's not worth your time for the ressources you get. That'd make the skill level feel less like op bonuses. Also I think can opener and tinder should stay usefull even with good fire and cooking skill. Maybe make can opener open can very fast and tinder speed up fire lightning time a bit, cause currently they are just dead wheight. Especially tinder which you get often when cutting wood, if it could help as a bad accelerant or at least add a few minutes to the fire that would be cool.

Were flares nerfed recently? I cant scare away any wolves with them anymore. Its like Im swinging a chicken leg infront of them.

I've found a good way to scare wolf is to back away slowly while swinging the flare at the time the wolf rush at you, and when he stops you can move forward a bit still swinging your flare (not getting too close), I don't know if it's just my imagination but wolves seems to react to the way you act, if you act fearful or turn your back they seem to always attack you, while if you stand up to them they are more easily afraid. Also if you are badly injured or really tired they seem to be more agressive. again might be my imagination

Ah, finally the ability to actually gain knowledge from books. I love this concept! I do wish that we could use knives and axes as weapons because there have been times where I've been able to cut off deer or be so close to a rabbit I could touch it. I also would like to see more wildlife in the game. You have used pictures of owls and foxes and I would like to see them added in the game. Maybe you can add other animals like a lynx or crows that you can actually shoot down. Keep up the good work guys! Can't wait to see what the next update brings!

Hey guys you should make it to where the hatchet can also be a melee weapon and also add in hostile npcs to make it seem like your not the only one trying to survive.
