Came here to say exactly that; I have a good friend who's brother has a handicap and loves gaming, so finding games that offer options like this is always awesome!
-Sprain system improved -Birch bark tea -An energy drink -Rifle and aiming gameplay improved -A new gun: a revolver -Improvised wraps that you can craft -bugs fixed -new animations
So technically on my current 390 days survived progress game I can get benefit the following features from the update: - New Sprain System - Birch Bark Tea - Improvised Wraps
@@krabz9390 Why do you say that? Hinterland prevented us from suffering sprains cause of we are notified all the time if there are any risk. I didn't try the bow because I have ammo in my rifle sooo.... ...it's gonna be a matter of time until I find out if that's even frustrating or rather satisfying gameplay-wise.
Krabz Why is that silly? Before you got those sprains an indication on your screen warning you that you are about to get a sprain and that you’re taking a risk through doing it.
I AM SO READY YESSSSSS Hinterland mad respect for you guys . ive been following and playing this game for about 4 years now and its been amazing , thank you
I 'm agree even if you are scaring like hell for your avatar when you are lost in a blizzard with hypodermic status he is on my tope ten of game in difficulties realism and is one of the only game i can play for a entirely day =)
I was just coming down to the comments section to say exactly what this guy is saying and I've also been playing the game for 4 years love what you do Hinterland
Wait, you can play this game that long, for 4 yrs? I have one eye on it for loong time but never bought it. Could you fill me in on what keeps you in? Is it like different map across those 4 years or different mods or smtng?
Hinterland: We've added a revolver for self defense! Me: *BIG IRON PLAYING IN THE BACKROUND* To the town of aguia fria rode a stranger one fine daaaaay......
EA: "There is also no forced multiplayer and online only content. Where is also the pay to win system? Since when do software companies listen to this 'Feedback' they mention? WE tell the players what to do not the other way around."
I love the way you do updates. You build with the foundation instead of stackin on a falling tower, even if players are ingratefull just know that there will always be some that appreciate your work eithic.
Ashen One If you appreciate developers who put a effort into polishing, and building their foundations strong, I highly recommend checking out Exanima by Bare Mettle.
Each update brings me back, some of the best money I've ever spent on a game that simply keeps getting new content. Wish other companies cared about the quality of their product like you guys. Keep it up!
I am a huge survival game and have never heard of this. What you said, I said about day z on console. I'm a new player and in 3 weeks ive fallen in love with it. But your comment makes me wanna research this a bit. ✊
you are fucking joking? This game goes for months on end getting no content and the content we get in minuscule in comparison to other game's development cycles.
@@C-R-l-M-S-O-N I think there team is very small. I imagine it takes a long time for such a small number of people. Hopefully updates will be more frequent as more people join their development team.
Been waiting for episode three since 2017. I've replayed both episode before and after the redux and I'm still waiting on that third episode. The one thing I want in survival mode is shelter building, right now we only have the snow shelter.
@@chase573 - I hope more people join their team, this game needs more than what it has right now. To be fair this is the best survival game I have ever played, but I eventually get bored of it. The only thing that brings me back are updates like this, but it's still not enough for the amount of time we have to wait to receive one. I am grateful for their efforts and support, they even responded to my bug report on wrist and ankle sprains and look a sprain system overhaul a few months later, now that makes me happy.
Those hand and head wraps were sooo needed! It’s so frustrating when you’ve got 15+ pieces of cloth but you’re freezing because you didn’t find gloves ?? Just didn’t make sense. Your hard work is much appreciated 🙏🏻
I am still in absolute awe of this game and your attitude as developers. You consistently ask for and then listen and respond to player feedback and have made an absolute piece of art with this game. Keep up the amazing work, and rest assured I'll be certain to buy anything you make in the future if you keep going like this.
If you wait till it charges to drop the bait then your waiting to long but it's a good way to get an easy shot/kill & turn even bad meat into a meal. Otherwise I'd just save the meat & shoot if it's already charging just to be safe/practical
been waiting here for 4 hours to mash that like button and find out whats coming up in the new update! Thanks Hinterland for continuing to work on and improve one of my favorite games of all time!
Love the improvised wrap idea... I always thought that, in real life, I'd wrap ANYTHING around mmy hands/head to get/keep warm... and now I can in the game. Bravo, Raph and team... great update in general. 5:21... that Revolver shot animation... I like it. I like it a lot.
@@JS-ys2uk Huh... That is good feedback, too. Wearing mittens or gloves *should* impact your shooting, in the case of mittens probably make it impossible.
Thanks all for the kind words! Just a few updates: • we are looking at getting a fix for the crash out later today on Steam, hopefully (and a bit later on other platforms). Also looking at Sprain tuning to see what's going on there. That fix may take 24-48 hours to get out due to the testing timeline. • if you encounter any other odd behaviour, please get in touch with our Support Team ("ask for help", top right corner): hinterlandgames.com/support • for any other general inquiries about the game, future plans etc. please consider submitting them through our weekly Milton Mailbag Q&A (and also have a look at the Index, to see if it might have been covered previously): thelongdark.com/mailbag Thanks again for your support!
Hey Hinterland could you please put more animals in the game like a cougar on timberwolfmountain or seals on the coast levels. The cougar could give you maybe a blanket as a sleeping bonus and the seals animal fat for the lantern
Much respect for the updates, I'm a new player but I love the game, I think it's awsome that some game companies still admit the faults in their games, and then fix them.
Brand new to the game and I'm 4 days in to Stalker mode. No tutorials or anything. I'm a veteran to survival games, so when I started figuring things out and realized something. You did what is rarely done. You made it real. You have my respect.
Been a huge fan for years, recently started playing again, and seeing this update come in, I'm blown away by how attentive Hinterland is to the community's requests and needs. Having a several-year-old game continue to be patched and improved is a testament to how much the team loves their product, and I thank you for it!
I'm doing the nomad challenge for The Long Dark right now and I'd have to say I definitely appreciate all the little details that were added with the most recent update. I originally played back in 2014 when the early access came out and the only map was what is now "Coastal Highway" after a close encounter with a wolf and dying I had reached the end of the free trial and I kind of forgot about this game. I'm glad that I found it again though after all this time because this is by far the best survival experience I've had to date! Not going into details the best this game has to offer is the fact that unlike other survival games, you aren't constantly scurrying around to survive. Instead, there are long periods where you're just walking through the world or sitting in your shelter repairing clothing or preparing for the next excursion with not much urgency. Then the frantic running about you have to do when you get caught in a surprise blizzard 5 kilometers from the closest shack with next to no wind protection or the creeping dread of lugging meat around as you hear the howls of wolves that seem to be getting closer to you with every passing minute.
I think you might be the first developers I've heard openly say something negative about something in your game to explain why you fixed it. In a world of fake corporate speeches and false claims, that's a truly amazing thing to see. Keep doing what you're doing. We'll support you till the end.
I'm speechless. Like.....how is it possible to come up with such an amazing game? It's so beautiful! And the fact that you guys listen to the players as much as you do? It makes the game so much better! I love TLD and Hinterland! Thank you so much for this game!
It is easy to see that you guys in Hinterland love this game just as much as we do. Thank you for your work effort through many years. Love from a norwegian tld player.
Stone arrow heads would be a nice addition, getting to the forge is such a chore, and sometimes rng doesn't give you any ammo or nothing, being able to craft "weaker" arrows would be a cool feature to give players a nice early bonus if they can craft a bow early.
Head and hand coverings!!!!! All of these updates look amazing. Thank you for pouring so much love and care into The Long Dark. Hinterland, Raphael and company, you have done an excellent job on this game.
Ive spent countless hours in this game in the past. Ive almost forgotten about it though after so long. Thank you for showing up in my feed, because now not only do I want to revisit, I have an awesome new update waiting for me.
Over 800 hours playtime and i still love to survive in The Long Dark. Thank you guys for so much dedication, this is one of the best games i have ever played.
I’ve been playing this game for a long time. Every update fixes things that annoy me or sometimes just could be better. Gives me hope that there are still developers that care about the quality of the games they put out. Keep working hard guys we all appreciate it. Much love to you guys 👍🏻
I’ve been playing this game now for about 3years. I think it’s the best survival game out there and honestly feel that Hinterland are doing everything they can and extremely good at following feedback. If I could give any, although it might be a long shot, if this game somehow went to multiplayer it would reach a whole new level. I love the survival mode and every update is like a new game, how ever that only lasts about a month or so. Multiplayer could take this game to a new high and I know how difficult it would be but if there’s anyway I think it could be a game changer
I just needed this update to ocurre, not just in The Long Dark but in my life as well, I enjoy a lot The Long Dark updates!! Keep it up guys, I love the game!!!!!
I couldn't bring myself to play this over the winter, because in my area this was the worst winter since weather records began. Glad to get back into it
All thats left is an option to play at least with 1 friend. Survivng with a friend would be so much awesome in interloper mode with same drop rate or maybe bit improoved. Still my favorite game.
Retrofitting multi player into an existing single player game (ESPECIALLY games with variable, player-triggered time-acceleration, like TLD) is complex, difficult and time-consuming. It would take 2-3 years if they did no other development work. So no, not happening.
I've been waiting YEARS for a handgun! The excitement is so high I literally cheered during this video! Thank you so much for continuing to improve on the BEST survival game out there!
I love this team, man. I don't know what else can I say. I been playing this game since october freaking 2014. And it has come a longer way than any other game I have seenn, probably. Thank you guys so much.
In my eyes your team is one of the most underrated game development teams out there. I’ve been a fan of the long dark for a few years now. I’ve appreciated your hard work and dedication to this project and have looked forward to each of the new content releases. This update looks as though it will be a ton of fun! I look forward to getting out there on a new survival run. Thanks again for your hard work.
I’m so happy you guys keep updating the game... I originally was a PC player and I’ve been playing since the game was released, but after moving states I bought a PS4 and today I re added TLD to my PS4 collection - patiently waiting for the 30 minute update to finish and IM SO EXCITED
I think it's a mistake not add a shotgun. It could help with bird hunting and defense. I think it could be balanced by just having way less ammo, making every shot precious
@@jensb3946 because the people who actually survive out in the wilderness for months on end over the winter in Alaska ect dont just have two firearms. some do but honestly it would be dope to go bird hunting and having different options to hunt.
I can't stop coming back for more! Other games have come and go but The Long Dark is here to stay! 775 hours in steam... not proud of that but it shows how much I love it!
Many respects to the developers for making this amazing patch video. It explains everything you need to know, without too much detail, and clearly showing what they are talking about. At the same time, the philosophy of the game is clearly laid out. I love these incremental updates, and Long Dark remains one of the best games I have ever played (and definitely the best survival game out there!). Keep up the amazing work.
It honestly shocked me how well this update has improved the game, I haven't played it much before hand and only returned now. I have to say, I love the fact that even when you have a lot of ammo, well a lot... more than one clip, you still reconsider every shot, because unlike how it is in most games, having a gun in here doesn't guarantee anything, I remember wasting 4-5 revolver shots when my dumbass thought I can easily hunt wolves with it. All I ended up with was a gash and a fair few bruises, while my pockets lightened of the few bullets I had at the time. For hunting I've long ago started to prefer the bow instead of the rifle, which sounds unreasonable, but to anyone who ever hunted a bear with a rifle will know exactly why the bow is the tool of choice. In short Long Dark has gone from another survival game, to a very appreciated favourite of mine in the last few weeks. If I could say something regarding the matter, if we could in the future either find or painstakingly make some small improvements to our tools/weapons, say like a scope for the rifle or a quickloader for the revolver or a professional cast for iron arrow tips, it would probably make this the best down to earth survival game out there.
The amount of work you put into this awesome game is amazing! I'm playing it for more than 3 years now and it's still getting better and better! Keep up the great work, much appreciated! :)

This was already one of my favorite games of all time years ago, and the improvements and additions since then have been amazing. I love the way you guys handle this game, and I feel like it's one I'll play forever. Thank you! Looks like I'm diving back in today, 217 hours just isn't enough
Hey! i love the new update, but there is a couple things that the longtime players have awaited for a while. We've wanted a couple new animals, such as mountain lions/cougars and foxes. the few animals we have are great but if you think about it theres only 5 animals you can really interact with. Maybe add a scope that you can add to the rifle with an advanced tools kit. The scope would be really rare, but would allow you to shoot farther distances so you have a lesser chance of spooking the animal. the comment will probably never be sen but oh well.
So existed to try out the revolver!!! And could you think about adding a shotgun so maybe hunting rabbits and if you'd like crows could be a lot easier :D
