This game is worth every penny. One of the best game I've ever played in my life!

I don't think there is a single game where every single update brings nothing but useful/well optimized/interesting things. Absolute banger of a company. Keep up the work, Hinterland!

I can’t think of a game that has taken such time to think and devise REALISTIC things and goals that pertain to the game, I understand people say that updates take too long but dear god, the amount of things they CAN do with this game..is truly understated thank you for your unbelievable commitment to this world, and please continue to keep updating!

I bought this game back in 2016 for around £20, I can't believe we're still getting content after all this time. Hinterland are the best developers!

Ok so i saw this game in my library today and "fearless navigator" was on the front page. I got all excited and thought "this one was fun lets buy the new dlc".......................... ITS A FREE UPDATE SEVERAL YEARS AFTER RELEASE FOR A SINGLEPLAYER GAME??????? Major respect to the devs, i'd buy this game again full price if i didnt have it already. This makes me so happy and gives me back some hope for this industry.

Man we really need to appreciate how these guys with everything going on right now put their time and effort into this update to support their fans even with limited resources from working at home

This game would be so extremely good as an VR game. The optimal framerate. Graphics, sound, pacing and relaxed gaming... a masterpiece as a VR game. Though it is already a one of a kind game.

Before the confinement for COVID-19, the feeling of being in my room exploring a vast forest and struggling to survive brought me comfort and peace. And now, since it's imperative to be home to protect ourselves, The Long Dark has helped me think about many things as I walk along abandoned roads and look for supplies in snow-covered warehouses. Survival mode is not just a type of game; personally, I think it is an invitation to lose ourselves in a world that could be ours: Forgotten, wild, and still peaceful. The survival mode has helped me to meditate on who I am, what I would do if I were the character of the game, if I really would have the courage and the will to keep going, fighting to survive another day; or if in the end, I would end up in the middle of the forest, frozen or dead, waiting for someone to find me so I can tell my story. I am so grateful that the Hinterland team continues to make these developer journals and improve that world that they have created with so much love. I can only say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will see all of you out there under the stars of an illuminated sky.

I only started playing The Long Dark some days ago and I'm hooked!

When I started playing the long dark recently I was so confused when I found ketchup crisps, maple syrup and spray paint lol

Good update, the next should be for the wildlife First off, the wildlife help to add an atmosphere and currently they don’t. They don’t act like real animals and their path finding takes me out of immersion. I shouldn’t be able to just crouch and shoot a deer each time or have it run towards me. There are many opportunities for expansion. Expand on what is already in the game. -improve animal behavior and movement. More realistic, more of a challenge, more tracking for hunting. -add variations in animals -not all wolves look like copies, just slight differences etc-same for the other animals -more sounds, not the same howl everytime for example -not all deer should be bucks, make makes and females. Make antlers usable so you would have to search out a buck to make tools like an antler spear or an improved knife where the antler is used to make another handle. -fish should be sized according to its weight, they should not all be the same especially when they can be double the size and still look the same. -animals should be sized based on their weight. Some will yield more meat than others and adding this will allow for more thought and consideration when hunting. This let’s you see which one is best to kill or worst. -other animals with functionality should be added -birds and rodents for more food opportunities and atmosphere especially early game. Maybe even another type of rifle for hunting them (.22 caliber) or hunting technique. If these are added and improved behavior/hunting mechanics, it would make for a hierarchy of difficulty and resources. You start with small animals which are easier, then you begin to track, hunt and harvest larger and more difficult animals. -add more resources that can be made from animals -bone hooks, bone broth (food item), antler spear, antler handle as a weapon improvement and overall more ways to use the animal -carcass improvement -after skinning an animal, show it on the body - after harvesting, change the model to show it -if antlers are removed (going with my idea) show it on the body -a decay system: bodies breakdown overtime (stages are fresh, “gross looking”, gross with bones exposed and then just bones for example). This could even give you the opportunity to have the animals skull and make a wall mount for it. Oh how much I wish you could customize the interior of places a bit. Anyways, I like the game a lot and those are my two cents. If you read it, let me know what you think.

Lovely to see every aspect of the game getting ruthlessly refined and specialised, very keen to get into the new update very soon :D not every update needs to be a huge content drop like a new region or major new mechanic, I can see myself finding a lot of uses for the stone caches, the marker system seems interesting though I feel i may be among those who have memorised the whole map way too explicitly to get much out of markers 😂

I've been playing since 11/18 almost have 2,000Hrs. now and I have used sticks and rocks in a group of three in the form of an elongated triangle to mark points of interest like caves and what not almost since I started playing and fortunately the snow doesn't bury them. This game is the reason I built my first PC for and its still doing fine. This game is the best 20 bucks I ever spent back when I bought it.

This game led me through hard times IRL a few years ago, and I am still going strong in TLD. Dinging 600 hours soon and teaching friends how to play it, and buy it. Please hurry to Nintendo Switch. Thank you Hinterland

This made me want to play again I love this game.

So when you’re done with everything you have all these features and can create new games with other environments like desert or jungle. That way the hard work you put into the fine tuning of the game would pay off more. I’d love to see at least one more survival game from Hinterland in the future.

I love that you've added the info on what locations have been mapped. I'm working on several Cartographer runs and it's always a challenge knowing if you have completed a map. The polaroid feature is also very nice. Thanks, Hinterland.

i bought this game in 2015 maybe 2014 when i was 7 years old because i saw iBallisticSquid play it this was the reason i made a steam account this was the first game i got on my new made steam account and because me being 7 years old my mom was like "ok you can have this game" and now looking at it this is one of my most played games with 739 hours on it with rust coming behind it at a close 682

I honestly can't stand the map system currently, I would love being able to find maps that don't show your location, but show landmarks and roads and things.

This game is one of the best examples how early access should work.
