Hmm so the Blue Ray TTT had a blue tint. Not anywhere near as bad as Fellowship's green tint, but I prefer it like this. The only wtf is the 3:50 change. I get it's a 'vision', but c'mon no need to ruin the original artistic design of that shot like that...

Apparently, the 4K Theatrical Cut has the best color grading of all releases. It fixes some problems (like the green tint in Fellowship), while maintaining the rest like it was. The Extended Editions look completely different, they are more grey and much darker. I think it kind of ruins a bit of the tone. Things look more grounded, less fantasy-like. I'm making a fan-edit of the trilogy, combining the theatrical with the best scenes of the extended, this way I can get the good color grading with a few less additional scenes for a perfect pacing.

So much DNR wax and actual lost detail in this set. Heartbreaking! Our one shot at HDR and the HDR is brilliant! Beautiful HDR wasted because he wanted to make it as plastic as Hobbit. Obvious obscene detail loss in significant portions of this entire set. Not just CG fx. Actual photographic film detail loss. So may early reviewers showed themselves as paid promoters . Characterizing the wax as just a minuscule blip of the length. IT IS NOT. And what were they thinking screwing Arwen's vision? 3:50 Less detail than the bluray and deliberate tampering of original presentation. Halo and "antique" filter? You think the person who would do that to this scene wouldn't do it across other shots across all 3 films? Damn. We'll never get another shot at HDR LOTR. And it was beautiful not to have the awful color grading of the bluray. Need amateur color regraders to rescure again. Combine good HDR shots with amateur HDR converted shots lifted from bluray iinto Unwaxed Edition. Best chance sadly.

Did they make 4:04 black n white?? I get the idea....but I liked the blue tones for the idea of sadness. That looks so stupid.

Show both image side by side too or half Bluray 1080p vs Bluray 4k. Looks like both r having their own beauty

I like old blue version more. This new 4k doesnt seems to be more detail
