You should have fingerprinted the inside coating, because it's not anodized. As for thinking you "wasted your money"... every RU-vidr that questioned whether they "needed" to upgrade has a perfectly capable m1 or m2. Let's be honest, you blew your money because you "wanted" the new color. Anyone who truly needs this upgrade (ie previous Intel Chip) wouldn't even question the purchase.

Well put. I have been using 2014 macbook air and I bought this mac pro today. It’s a huge upgrade for me! But I intend to keep my 2014 because she has so much memory with me.

It’s cool until it gets scratched….first around the ports , then around the touchpad especially if you wear watches. The silver is the best option for future proofing.

Why would you trade a single generation lol? Even in the PC space I am still using a 13900K - not in my right mind would I buy a 14900K… I got this instead of my old M1… and I am happy. But if I had an M2 Pro this would’ve been an incremental upgrade, and if I had a M2 Max - it would’ve probably been a downgrade

@@Electro489 that’s what I’m saying an M2 Max is more powerful than an M3 Pro - there’s no need for you to upgrade probably until either the M4 Max is out or the M5 series chips come out

I think the M3 Pro MacBook Pro is a good mid range machine. The fans have not come on at all on mine (TG Pro reports them hardware switched off) and it is 300% faster on Geekbench than my old i7 MacBook Pro. The browser is super fast (a bit faster than M2 pro mini twice as fast as i7 MacBook Pro). The disk is not as fast as my M2 Pro Mac mini 1Tb but I don't notice it. The space black is great. it looks dark grey in a strong light but black in lower light.

I don't trust most of the numbers on geekbench or cinebench for that matter they're all just random numbers that may or may not pertain to anyone particular person's use case, Kyle Erickson has a good breakdown of that it's quite simple actually on his channel

@@mikedimond8816 maybe the Geekbench and Cinebench tests don't really reflect how you personally may use the Mac but the M3 pro is definitely faster than my i7 (that is what it's designed to get upgraders to buy) and the battery lasts for ages and the fans never kick in. They have upgraded and down graded to preserve battery life. Jerry Schultz is clear I think. The guy on 'Art doesn't lie' is testing real world photoshop export times and Lightroom multiple exports and that sort of work just goes faster if you have more ram.

Hi, did it come with Sonoma pre-installed? I remember that was not the case for the m3. Maybe something with that was the reason for the problem with the export.

The base M3 Max with 3nm should run a lot cooler and it's nearly double the performance, it's a HUGE step from the M3 Pro, which is a modest improvement over the M2 Pro at best. I think if you're after the performance of the M3 Pro you may as well get an M2 Pro at a large discount. But the M2 Max is 50% slower than the M3 Max, it's a HUGE difference.

I have a 2019 iMac i9 with 40 GByte of RAM. Right now, about 23 GBytes of RAM is being used without any productivity apps running outside of apps that are commonly loaded such as Norton 360, Mail, Messages, Safari with one tab, TeamViewer, etc. Some claim that 18 GByte for the M3 Pro is fine for most users that are willing to live with significant swap utilization but based on my baseline RAM utilization mentioned here, a minimum of 36 GByte should probably be selected for the M3 Pro machines for many users. Of course, adding additional SSD storage and selecting the non-binned 12 core CPU puts that price within a stone's throw of the 14/30 max version. My concern with that one is the thermals and resulting fan noise and corresponding hit on battery life for the 14 inch version.

Have you discussed this "theory" about your FCP export failure using the base M3 MacBook Pro? I wonder if there is a glitch using Apple's new dynamic GPU memory caching technology. And if so, then a fix will need to come from Apple sometime in the future.

@JerrySchulze Thank you for the reply, Jerry. I have enjoyed your video reviews over the yrs. BTW, I am really enjoying my new Space Black 14" M3 Pro MacBook Pro that arrived on Nov 7th. It is equipped with 36 GB ram and 1 TB SSD. Everything is working fine.

I’m getting the same one! MacBook Pro M3 Pro with 12cpu/18gpu, 36gig Ram, but only 1TB due to costs. Apple are killing that price for SSD storage man! So I just use 12TB External Hard Drive, to transfer end product away from the main ssd drive for the next projects. And usually edit my project anyways in my external hard drive. I only chose 1 TB just in case I need to Optimize Media, there’s space for it while editting the project real time. And then delete everything post transfer of end project and into my external hard drive. So that’s my reasoning. So excited for mine to start editing! lol 😂

People tend to forget that once the new models are out from apple they cease production on the old ones and you simply can't get them unless you're after refurbished. So any person looking to get an apple has to get the latest anyway same can be said on the pc side too

I thought the M3 Pro would be a horrible value vs M2 Pro based on the tech specs and cherry-picked benchmarks. Real world workflow tasks seem to prove otherwise. Looking forward to your review and analysis.
