knowing that Charlotta has seen Jacob Geller's video really makes me happy, what a tremendously talented artist she is, she deserves all the recognition in the world!
@@TANG3RINE95 It's around 1:15:12. She doesn't state it outright, but she mentions "that youtube channel" and Noclip added Geller's footage, so I think it's fair to assume they were talking about that one in particular.
1:15:00 was so sweet, its crazy she thought people werent going to find her. She was pivotal to the game and absolutely crushed her role. I hope she's a part of everything Sam Barlow makes going forward, Charlotta deserves all of the success.
the most wonderful thing about patreon is that it lets fans fund magnificent coverage like this that is a work of art in itself, and then after 90 minutes the credits start rolling and the first words you see are A Funky Potato
charlotta is a force of nature, what an incredible actress. It's hard to even believe that she made The One, such and brutal is the difference between the character and her in this documentary
Making this game must have been so cumbersome, just hearing about the fact that there are 3 full scripts to each of the fake movies, holy fucking shit.
Jacob Gellers Video made me play this game and i absoluteley loved it. Charlotta Mohlin especially was so mezmerizing. I think about this game every so often. It feels important.
Watching a documentary with behind the scenes footage from the development of a game about watching the behind the scenes footage of the development of several films. This is an Immortality expansion pack, and no-one can tell me otherwise.
I’m not in a place right now where I can financially support the channel, but I am so grateful to all the Patreon backers that help make this amazing content and preservation possible!
The game is such an immersive and thrilling experience. Sam Barlow did a great job. So psyched to see the documentary! Thank you guys a lot for doing this.
WOW you guys really hit it out of the park with this one. It’s such a vast game with so many new elements to cover (acting, costuming, sets, etc) for the NoClip team, yet it feels so freaking tight and well put together like you’ve been making these kinds of documentaries all along. Amazing work! Other notes, 1) I was actually expecting a jumpscare with switching to The One during the credits; that’s how much this game has me in its clutches 2) I really appreciated the stress / worry that Charlotta went through during this process; almost all of her scenes are more intense / emotional and it seems she’s an actress that really experiences the role, so absolutely props to her for putting so incredibly much into one of the most uniquely standout characters of any media I’ve seen 3) Danny killed it with the interview location; freaking gorgeous backdrops 4) I swear I could just listen to Sam talk about film for hours, his depth of knowledge and expression of that knowledge is just *chefs kiss*
Just need to shout out you guys going the extra mile in editing to make an incredible documentary even better with the little touches of the rewind and match cut transitions from the game. Keep up the incredible work!
Gaming moment of the year for me was playing through this and first encountering The One. Only time I can remember playing something that actually *shocked* me
I had watched Jacob Geller's video about this game last year, but only just got round to playing it myself. Even though I knew what to expect, it still gave me spinetingles uncovering each of the hidden clips that I did. And seeing that pivotal scene of The One singing/miming... totally devastating.
When you occasionally get goosebumps and shivers sent down your spine by watching a documentary about a game you`ve played, it`s safe to say that said title has left an impression on one`s mind...
I desperately wanted a behind-the-scenes when I first played Immortality in 2022. I showed it to a friend this week and after we found 100% of the clips, we watched Jacob Geller’s video (because you have to!) and then saw this suggested. I’m so so so so happy to have my hopes affirmed that there was so much love put into this game by everyone involved. Also the difference between Charlotta and The One is insane- yet she just as mesmerizing when she is being herself. 😊
I was already blown away by the actors whilst playing the game, particularly because most of the scenes are so long and one mistake could mean going all the way back to the beginning, but having now watched this I have even more respect for everyone involved seeing just how complex the behind-the-scenes work was. Especially Manon Gage, considering how versatile her performance was - she deserves all the accolades.
Never heard of this game, did what you suggested and went and played it, amazing experience. Now this doc is the cherry on top. Thanks for introducing me to an amazing game!
I adored Immortality. I couldn't get it out of my head for days, even after I finished. One of the best, most captivating games I've played. I hope to get the opportunity to see both Charlotta and Manon in more projects, they both possess such talent.
Its incredible that they managed to make the situation in the game the situation in the real world. I wish that the three films were made and that I could see them, but they aren't. Like the in universe situation, they are essentially lost media. This game cemented my love for FMV games, and shows that they can work, can be compelling for storytelling, and are absolute proof that games can, and are, art.
It's amazing. The documentary just went by. I could watch hours more. Tks no clip and tks sam barlow and crew for immortality, one of the top games ever
Playing Immortality was an *experience*, I really loved it. Great doc, especially enjoyed the Acting (Part Two) chapter that gets into prop guns on set & of course how the intimacy scenes were handled. Super interesting look at the more intense parts of the game / filmmaking process here.
This is the best video on this entire website. Everyone and everything is SO on point. They all get it like we did. They're all excited like we are. It's just pure joy coming through my screen and I'm screaming of happiness right now
Very cool you got to do this. As you say, it's not typical to interview a film crew about a video game. Three whole movies, written, just for one game. I hope one day we'll get those scripts. I bet they'd be great to defictionalise.
“If [the game] could be summarized in a brief sentence, then it wouldn’t need to exist” - Barlow What a brilliant fellow. This framing helps me see what he was aiming for, and what they achieved. Also, the fact the two leads still have tea together just warmed my heart! All of the actors were mesmerizing.
Even though you warned about spoilers I think you've done incredibly well at minimising them - although I haven't played the game yet it hasn't discouraged me from giving it a go.
so worth the wait!!! man, you guys absolutely did justice to this game's production. favorite aspect as always was seeing the inspiration behind the concept by barlow. (also, stoked to see jacob geller get his much deserved shoutout) ;)
I've raved about every aspect of this game but goddamn the costume and production designers are absolute STARS. Completely sold the the reality of each era.
It's a shame we didn't have a feature on the game's music and an interview with the composer... I was really looking forward to this part, but the rest is brilliant. Well done, it was super informative and the format was great!
Immortality is such a weird, beautiful, complex, ambitious project that even after watching this documentary and seeing how it all came together, it still blows my mind that this game exists and works as beautifully as it does.
So happy to see a NoClip doc about this game! It's an insane, magnificent experience that is so rich and layered, it's awesome to learn about the incredible cast and crew behind it.
Watching this just made me so much more appreciative of the game. Also it makes me happy to see that everyone involved loved this experienced and pretty much only had positive things to say about it. Again an amazing documentary !
I went and found this game on gamepass and played it because of this noclip documentary. Thanks NoClip, what a game experience! I felt like I was part of the film crew, and got so invested in all their offscreen relationships.
Another great documentary by NoClip and I appreciate how it focuses on the filmmaking and acting as we already know the story behind the game design. The production of Immortality is just mindblowing in its complexity and scale, the planning involved and logistics along with the tight timeline are just a testament to the talent and dedication of the crew. I'm really glad they all got the awards and acknowledgements, there's nothing else like this Immortality in all of gaming.
The best Behind the scenes peak into the making of Immortality that anyone could hope for. Was lovely to get these interviews and insight into one of my favorite gaming/immersive experiences from last year. Kudos to the team behind Immortality and to Noclip. Thank you.
I decided to give this a try after y'all talked about it on the podcast and just couldn't stop until i was through. Great game and great doc as always! Also it's really funny to see the interview with Charlotta after only knowing her as her character :D
I have just hammered through this game this week knowing this was coming out. Can't wait to watch this. Im quite the 'gameplay first' type of gamer but this was such a fantastic experience of a game start to end ❤❤❤
It's really really cool seeing how actors play as actors, /everything/ else amazing about Immortality aside it's something I always noticed and appreciated when playing the game.
I skipped over this on game pass a few times, then saw you guys made a video on it and immediately downloaded it and played it with my partner through before watching. Safe to say, we're glad we did 😁
This was a fascinating watch! Everyone involved in making Immortality clearly poured so much into the project, which really comes through in the game! It really is a masterpiece of a game, and it was fantastic to get to see these additional insights! Awesome work everyone who worked on the game, and awesome work NoClip on another stellar documentary! 👌😍
I was so excited for this one when you mentioned it on the pod, and I'm certainly not disappointed! Immortality feels like such a natural fit for a Noclip documentary.
Wonderful documentary. It was such a bizarre month when this game consumed every late night gaming session. I've never played anything like this before. As both a gamer and a film lover, it was great to peek behind the curtain of this audacious masterwork.
I just discovered Jacob Geller yesterday and his video on this game (even featured here at 1:15:00) blew me away. There's so much depth in this game. I'm glad video essays and documentaries on games exist because I would never be able to piece up all this details.
Another fantastic documentary right here. I always leave a noclip doc with deeper inspiration for my own craft, admiration of the hard work shown by the individuals in game/media development, and a deeper love for video games.
I just discovered the game here. It seemed so special that I stopped at the beginning of the video and just bought the game. It's incredible, and while I was playing I was always thinking "This is so good, the noclip doc must be really awesome" hahahah
The film theory bit was really interesting, it made me appreciate the game a lot more. Me and my partner played it together and had a great time with it. Our only critique was we finished the game without realizing. I don't want to spoil it for the rest but I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.
I finished this month's ago and has been living rent free in my mind since then. So much to reflect on. Thanks for such a great video and insight from the actors that created such a great game and experience.
This is incredibly fascinating, thanks for creating it. It’s so odd that this feels like Inception, like this is the real world, then you have The One and The Other One, then the in game behind the scenes/filmmakers, then finally the worlds of the films themselves
