Watching from 2024 after downloading free on mobile from Netflix. One of the best games I’ve ever played. And the Steam review score is still 98%!

loving this series so much. I remember watching that old documentary about Hyper Light Drifter's development. It's one of the things that got me into game dev (and here I am now a full time indie dev!) Thanks for sharing us this amazing story. Really looking forward to the next episode!

Usually these vids make me want to run & buy a game. The unbearable wokeness makes me not want to support them. "Body types" because apparently male & female are bad words anymore. Wearkng masks in 2023/2024. Truly like oh well if the stuido shutters

Hyper Light Drifter was such an eye-opener for me. I got it when I got my first ever gaming-console: the Nintendo Switch. After I beat if (multiple times, mind you), Heart Machine left me with a nigh-insatiable thirst for MOAAARRRRR. That's when I found out they also came out with another, much different game: Solar Ash. Took me a few years, but once I managed to acquire a PC, I bought that game lightning-fast. I love to play and stream it whenever I get the chance. Now, I watching a Hyper Light Breaker video make me feel chills and jitters that I once remember from my first Drifter run. Thanks to Heart Machine for working on such an awesome game, and a big thanks to Noclips for giving it a whole 30 minute documentary. Keep up the good work, both of you!!!

Everyone avoiding using the Spear is wild to me because that's my primary weapon by far. I wonder what it was like at the beginning and how they improved it to what it is now.

Mid-game I realized this was going to be similar to the movie "edge of tomorrow", then I had one of those "Aha moments." I could do anything I wanted without any repercussion, that's when I had my first time paradox! This got me thinking on more creative ways to try and break away from that place! And the canon ending was unexpected, a total surprise! Nice game I give it a solid 9/10 and I am a player that only buys AAA games. If I could wipe my memory again, I would play it again, I beat all the endings already.

I’ve kept thinking after playing Horizon - Burning Shores: why did the narrative of the Horizon games downgraded so much? Why is the story of Forbidden West so good but it just doesn’t reach the full potential it had. And then I made my research and find that this incredible man, John Gonzalez, who we just saw speak about the game so passionately, worked for about a half of Forbidden West (Zero Dawn’s sequel) and nothing on the Burning Shores. And it just makes a lot more sense why we are in this narrative downgraded. I just can’t understand why John Gonzalez is no longer in Guerrilla Games.

Very, *very* few games truly deserve the title of 10/10. This was one of them. There's pretty much nothing in this game that I actively dislike. Everything was awesome and expertly crafted.

It breaks my heart that we all hate the modern multiplayer, micro transaction heavy, battle pass, “will fix after release” games but when a dope game like this drops players ignore it and shareholders stop funding them…

Over the past couple of months I've attended a few of their game nights so this is a bit surreal. Alx is such a chill dude and it's so obvious how much passion this team has for what they do. Had no idea they were caught up in all of this Embracer buyout craziness. Seriously makes me worry a bit. I'm hoping everything just turns out okay for everyone.

i found the art style of return growing on me more and more as i played. it felt really appropriate, given the framing! initially it reminded me of american mcgees grimm which is… okay at best, so i think that was my hang up initially😅

_(small spoiler)_ I‘m kinda sad that this interview didn‘t talk about the ending and the Nomaian story about the Eye, which is smart because people should discover these things by themselves but I‘d love to hear something more on that by the developer team. Great Video, loved everything about it

I've just got to say, as a longtime viewer but patron / podcast listener only in the past 2 years, it's MINDBLOWING to come back to this video after several years and realize that random camera guy from this video was Jeremy (who now a lot of us have a classic parasocial relationship with). First time I watched this it was like "who's this rando?" And now it's all "oh snap lil Jeremy!"

The ending is exceptionally rough given the recent closure of Arkane Austin by Xbox. Classic example of a great team of people put down by brainless investors and people who know nothing beyond profit margins. Prey is a fantastic game, it was and will remain one of the best immersive sims ever.
@mravg79
@mravg79 3 дня назад
+1 the last chapter of this video hits hard. I would not call Prey a masterpiece, for me it was a good game (I had some issues with it, but I liked it and I’m glad I played it, possibly I might revisit it). But I admire the work put into this game and giving the player agency to do whatever is possible with the tools that player has. I remember at the beginning of the game (when I was still learning how to play it) I tried to go to areas which seems to be unreachable, trying to figure out can I get there and how and if I managed as was rewarded with resources, or other useful items I was a great feeling. The problem I see is too many games are made out of template, which means over the years many players were conditioned to follow the markets, follow the poi on the map, which means if game gives you more freedom one might not even realize it and just try to optimize the time to get to the next objective. On the business side of things. It seems like many higher ups look so narrow on their spreadsheets or other data analysis tools that they got blinded by the profit margin to the point they completely detached themselves not only from what customer might want, but also from the reality. Growing budgets, chasing live service even though many fails and only a few are successful. This is not sustainable. But do not take my world for it back in 2020 Shawn Layden said in interview that growing budgets are not sustainable. So if one person having long experience within industry can see it why all others seems to be blind? I honestly do not get it. Have a nice time gaming!
