Mike D'Abo and Paul Jones were two of the finest vocalists of their generation. What a treat to see them singing this wonderful song together.Thank you.
I met Paul Jones walking through Norwich, one Sunday afternoon, early 90's. What a lovely, lovely man. Didn't hesitate in signing his autograph for my mum, who nearly fainted when she saw him! :-)
No knives,No drugs,No reclaim the streets you get my drift. When you listen to the likes of P/J,Mark/K,Jools/H and there are others always come across as people who could sit down and have a coffee with. No arrogance, attitude, but respected.
Paul Jones had such an amazing voice. Talks of Manfred Mann holding a position as a Pop group had circulated long ago, but Manfred had always said that they didn't fit the look. Manfred actually said that Paul Jones was "ruggedly handsome." One of the only handsome ones. Could not be more true. He really looked better as time went on. And his voice aged perfectly. I almost like his aged voice better. I'm glad he's still alive and kicking to this day. Hoping to see them live sometime. What a guy.
Met Paul Jones in about the mid 80's backstage at the Edinburgh Playhouse when he was singing with the Blues Band. He was really friendly and talked about his career and the current tour they were on. He had a great singing voice.
He still has a great voice Johnny never mind HAD lol, saw them in concert 3 years ago in North Berwick- brilliant. Most of the 60's stars were local boys made good and most were approachable not like many so top liners today!!
Awesome brilliant singer love this Band my favourite band Paul Jones will all ways be my favourite singer brilliant voice 👍👍👍the rest of the band brilliant singers ❤❤❤ together ❤❤❤
What a great band, they had so many hits and more than held their own against the rest of the British Invasion. Agreed should be in the R & R HoF, which seems hard to believe. Another great vocal band the Guess Who also not in.
Pretty flamingo, such sweet words ... the guy is so in love with his girl. Those were the days - innocent love songs when men appreciated women and vice versa.
Don't you love it when you see a '60's band sing & playing as good or better than they did 50 years ago? 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 snare, 1 keyboard & 4 really good voices. The 4 Seasons had kind of the same set up and also had a great sound. Love it.
Ah, just hearing this reminds me of sitting in my garage in high school rolling newspapers for morning delivery and thinking of my then girlfriend. Best times for music. Great vocals then and now.
I saw them twice at Penrith Leagues club in AUS in about 2000 to about 2005. It was two of the best shows I have ever seen and this clip appears to be the same era. AUS
Manfred Mann didn’t seem to miss a beat when Paul Jones left the band and Michael DABO on keyboard here took over as lead singer. Pretty Flamingo with Paul Jones on lead vocals hit NO1 and The Mighty Quinn with Michael dABO also hit no1 about a year later. Manfred Mann a terribly underrated band from the swinging sixties!!!!!
i think this was 1992 i saw them at glasgows royal concert hall that year, with benny gallagher on bass and vocals who also sang a few gallagher and lyle songs first class stuff it was
@@bonkeydollocks1879 Immensely. Black and blue all over. No, but I don't go out too much; the Jones _and_ D'abo line up would have a better chance of dragging me out.
I don't know why Paul Jones felt the need to elaborate on all the lyrics to Pretty Flamingo, when the original was just perfect. Sometimes less is more. This comes across like a hotel lounge bar singer's version.
Here's a question they called themselves the manfreds yet they were with Manfred Mann before Manfred Mann's earthband. Exactly why did Manfred Mann not come back for this?
Really good! Have been even better if Manfred Mann himself came back to them and the old Manfred Mann had again been reunited! Howevr, I would rather prefer if Paul Jones didn't played at the harmonica all the time at Mighty Quinn.
