I loved that Jim Carrey improvised the last minute "Smokin'" in the final scene, just because it hints that Stanley Ipkiss & The Mask were now one and the same person.

Stanley is a known decent pure hearted guy…when cops found the ruined car on the road and called out to him, why not simply reply honestly? “My car crapped itself, whilst figuring out what I was gonna do, I saw this flotsam drifting down the river, and in the low light it looked like a person in trouble so I ca,e down to try and render assistance” Being this was the early 90s, and in the film the police are portrayed as incompetent, whereas the syndicate people are the bad guys, the cops aren evil…as such, stating such would likely have resulted in the cops radioing for a tow truck, and offering him a ride home. In that era cops were far more known for aiding and rewarding good samaritans such as Stanley…

There IS a sequel to this, called "Son of the Mask", but I promise you 100% you will hate it. I've never met anyone who didn't hate it. It has very little to do with this movie and doesn't have Jim Carrey in it. Enough said! 6% on Rotten Tomatoes with a 16% audience score. "Painfully unfunny" says one of the reviewers. Yep.
