I can’t. I just can’t. That Sister Act scene… 90s cinema got so much wrong about musically inspired sub-cultures. The fact that there are still so many musically inspired subcultures is precisely why the church will never be successful trying to adapt to the aesthetic of the time. There are too many, and they separate us into cliques in our high school years. You would need a Mass in every musical genre.

Sigh, my biggest complaint about Novus Ordo masses has been out-of-control choirs. But then there's cutesy acting priests.

No, but it’s funny- I always asked my music director if we could do it, but now that i go to a TLM, I’d never suggest it! I look at this so differently now. When the priest says, “I haven’t enjoyed Mass that much in years-“ Yes, because the bread and wine becoming the Body and Blood and then consuming it was NOTHING without that rousing rendition of Hail Holy Queen! 😳

The Sister Act rendition is cringeworthy, yes. But far worse is taking place at so many so-called Catholic churches and masses. In my parish of St. Paul the Apostle in NYC, the rainbow flag is draped in front of the baptismal font and the old pastor (now at St. Paul the Apostle in LA) declared during a homily that he is gay (not sure if a practicing one), and that he hopes that all gay couples are blessed. The current pastor declared that "God is gay; God is a lesbian; God is transgender." Needless to say, I do not attend mass at my parish. Unfortunately, in NYC, St. Paul the Apostle is not the only one. Others are St. Francis of Assisi, St. Xavier, and St. Ignatius of Loyola (where the heretic James Martin resides).

St. Pio never said the NO because he died before it came out. He had to say the transitional Mass of 1965 though

Not true. He never said the Novus Ordo because he was a good and holy priest. He had a dispensation.

Padre Pio Never Said the new mass, as it came out a year after his death. He got the dispensation, and still had to celebrate it facing the People.

One of the biggest gripes by modern people is that Latin is a "dead language" so let's resurrect this mawfakka'.

I didn’t get it at the time but I get it now that I’ve seen how the churches are actually set up if they’re all the choir is usually up on top so that you’re feeling like the songs are more thinking about God and in heaven and the music is way more reverent my protestant friend pointed out the problem with this although they do not believe in the true presence they thought that they were still not enough reference to Our Lord I think these type of situations for music is probably more better for a Bible study or after when you are just spending time but not in the church

I probably won’t understand why in the comments people are almost mocking “sister act”. I understand the tradition that was given to the church but what I don’t get why people are keeping tradition, isn’t that one of the reason why there was division between the Pharisees and those who are poor in spirit. Jesus came not for the Pharisees (the righteous) but for the sinners. Jesus came to be the doctor to the sick. Jesus also commanded us to love one another and through Saint Paul, we are to sings songs of worship, for Jesus died for our sins. And those this mean I’m against tradition? No, of course not, just love is a powerful, it doesn’t mean I’m saying the being gay is ok. The bible clear says that it’s a sin. But we must bring the love to the church, which means bring the good things to glorify God. And didn’t the bible say to do good deeds to glorify God? What “Sister’s Act” did was not only bring young people into the church, but bring the poor souls that has lost their way with life. Jesus is a refuge for everyone that has lost their way and we as servants or even saints of God must encourage sinner to repentance. We can pray for them but we must also bring them back to the church. As a catholic it’s saddens to see these videos and not recognise but people are running away from the church

This is outrageous coming from the makers of a documentary on the beauty of Tradition. This makes me weep fir how Our Lady is being degraded. No “nun” should be wiggling around singing-like Sr Christina, the Italian singing nun. Why would you laugh at this???

The clip from "Sister Act" validates my refusal to watch this abomination. The worst portrayal of the TLM that I have ever seen on the screen was in the movie "Doubt" wherein the pederast priest mumbles unintelligibly -- i suspect that it was meant to sound like Latin -- during the elevation of the just-consecrated Host. I regret having wasted my time watching it.

I have seen the real film, namely the last mass of padre Pio. It was most interesting to see how he wanted to go to the real altar (which was still standing in the church against the eastern wall), but was forced by the two Franciscans holding him up to go to the table. He did not celebrate the horrid Novus Ordo, but used the real Missal and he completely ignored the people in that he was not putting on a show like the priests of today who celebrate the novus ordo. I wish that I could find that film again or it would be wonderful if someone could find it and post it on RU-vid. Has someone else seen this film or know where to find it.... Stephan in Ottawa
