It's quite outstanding but it was technically very much a product of 80s/90s cyberpunk. Most of the stuff in the movie was already common currency in comics, books, anime. Wachowskis were big fans of things like Serial Experiment Lain and The Invisibles

I spent a week in Mojave with some people I met 2 days before. Best week of my life. One of the guys told me to read this book which reminded me of The Matrix movie but with more information. And it changed my life…so I’m paying it forward: “Man Being Volume 1: The Transmission”. It covers everything from time travel, dreams, death, the afterlife, reincarnation, extraterrestrials, portals and gateways, Vatican and Renaissance secrets, Ancient civilizations, Lemuria, Atlantis, Jesus, Sinai, Egyptians and the Pyramids, Hebrew letters, etc. Wild read. Best I’ve had in years. Highly recommend it.

Damn this was A BLAST in 1999. I never saw the trailer or nobody spoiled me so the experience watching the Matrix first time was so mindblowing. We actually watched this in school because our artistic teacher was so impressed by this and told us that this is really big milestone in our culture. Also some priest in local church gave us speech about this movie and it's metaphors. It was damn good time to grow up!
@Alex_ADEdge

Thats crazy. When your art teacher and church priest are both preaching about it & getting you to watch it, you know its something big! I missed it in cinemas since I was too young, but my Dad was raving about it for ages and when it came on TV it was one of the rare times he let my brother and I stay up late to watch it. Mind blowing, I still remember that night fondly!

While this Is definitely the best in the series, *should have ended here but u know, Marketing. Yet if you really watch this movie, Is only really good in the beginning, *its opening. Morpheus is really the only good character and the actor in this film is who carries it. I would argue the film is really about Morpheus. Who opens the door for Neo? Who is the one REALLY being saved? And in the end, the climax hinges on rescuing Morpheus. Seriously rewatch it. All his scenes of dialog are all that move the plot. This films fatal flaw, is the "oracle" So stupid, everything was fine until her. She *rather the machine, Is the only character that Morpheus reverences for no logical reason. The oracle character I believe was a way of adding "mysticism" Something it didn't need. And her character proves useless, as it's supposedly a prophet, yet the prediction of saying Neo isn't the one proves wrong in the end. Useless scenes/dialog. Otherwise the film is Excellent for its time, but decent in age, imo.

If the job of a trailer is to sell a movie then this is one of the best trailers ever made. I still remember the effect it had on me as a teenager back in 1999; the crazy visuals, that enigma soundtrack, neo running through the lobby in slo-mo, I was blown away. I have never been so intrigued and excited to see an original movie - unlike watching the trailer for the latest Batman, Bond etc, characters you already know and love, this was completely new and once I saw this I couldn't wait for the film to come out. Incredible trailer.

This generation remembers Keanu Reeves as John Wick, but we remember him as Thomas A. Anderson aka Neo. I was 11 when this came out. The anticipation in those days for a movie was not like today. The trailers were epic and had people in pure hype. The atmosphere of cimemas in the 90s was magical. Seeing this for the first time on the big screen in 1999 was like something never seen before in cinemas.I remember the entire cinema going wild when Neo dodged the bullets. People were so engrossed with this movie that we as kids would reenact the movie scenes. We were so captivated by a new ushering of something so "evolutionized" that to this day the Matrix has left a footprint in our memory. They really do not make movies like these anymore.

You have to see it for yourself”.

idk i have a bad feeling for the new one, it seems like it will lack storytelling and just be like flashy modern movie with explosions.

@@theguitardude5769 agree it just seems like more of a normal action movie than anything. And the action sequences are nothing we've haven't already seen in the prior films. It needs some depth and more artistic vision

I first saw this trailer in 1999 with a movie I cannot recall. I can remember vividly this trailer and the audience's reaction. We were all blown away.
