Damn, great job picking up on Margo's true profession just based on her early comment about "not having to like the person who's paying you." Fantastic reaction and discussion as always! :)

I read the MLK quote as a way to tell the guests that they have never been oppressed and therefor don't know how to struggle and get free of it. Which is why they weren't able to escape. He calls it out more directly, "you probably could have escaped". The guests are all too privileged to know how to break free of oppression. ☺ The lines are so funny. 😁I also love "these are tortillas" it's hilarious!

Exactly They had no fight or flight instinct left in them because they’ve either never had to struggle or it’s been so long since they’ve struggled that they’ve completely forgotten what it was like.

I like the choice of not having Margot show anything on her face when she see's Tyler swinging

You're always so insightful. I appreciate how much you pick up as the movie goes along. I've seen video essays about the movie from in depth analysis that isn't as thoughtful as your thoughts on the fly. In terms of recognizing a sex worker, Slovak works at a high end restaurant for the wealthy, I imagine he's probably seen a large number of professional escorts accompanying his wealthy clients to events in the past.

Haven’t watched one of your reviews in a while but I’m really good I caught this one. Your analysis at the end was so good. It’s so nice to see some reviews like yourself who see a lot of things that others probably miss. 👌

I have so much trivia that I want to tell you about this movie. For example, Emma Stone was originally cast to play Margot (it's actually really fitting that Anya Taylor-Joy was the second choice, since Margot was Tyler's second choice). Also, John Leguizamo's character was originally Daniel Radcliffe playing himself (which I'm glad they changed, because with Ralph Fiennes playing Slowik, it would've drawn unnecessary comparisons to Harry Potter). You know, this movie actually makes me sad that I'm not allowed to eat cheeseburgers. I only eat kosher, and mixing meat and dairy is a big no-no. Although, Jewish law says that all other Jewish laws may be broken in life or death. So, if I were in Margot's situation, I could have a cheeseburger if it would save my life. By the way, you wearing that shirt for this reaction makes me think that Anya Taylor-Joy would make a great live action Keyleth.

One of the most horrific things I've ever seen in a film was Tyler's cooking scene, the amount of second hand embarrassment I felt had me wanting to sink under my seat in the theater, I've seen people say that Tyler got off easy but it was one of the best deaths I've ever seen in film. Also I immediately went to get a burger after watching this for the first time.

I heard about the premise of the film and I wasn't really interested, but notwithstanding ATJ's involvement (after The Witch and Queen's Gambit and The Northman), I just wasn't into it. And then I saw the film. Great work from everyone, this is a banger and it has a sort of Jordan Peele feel to it in terms of story and outcome.

13:37 His wife commented that Margot looked like 'Claire' who we can only guess was their daughter - and who many viewers are guessing in light of what she said and what Margot said killed herself because of what her father was doing to her......

He let her go because he could see she didnt want to save HIM she wanted to save HERSELF. And When she eats the rest of the burger at the end, shes basically telling is yes she is an eater/taker. And thats why she lived.

21:32 She's a service worker - it's her job to be able to know what the customer wants. Either because they tell her specifically or because she's able to observe them and determine what they want based on those observations. She's good at her job - she tried a few different tactics on him to ask for her life and they didn't work, now she's finally found the tactic that will work on him, the role he wants from her because she was able to figure out what he wanted and use it. In this case it was simultaneously challenging him and directing him back to his first love of cooking.
