Everytime I wanna escape my unforgiving, worldly anxiety or stress, I watch your videos of the deep sea or other videos of outer space (our universe). The eerie vastness yet hauntingly beautiful complexity of it all somehow helps alleviate what troubles me.
Me too, I actually clicked on this video to calm my anxious thoughts. I think watching videos about the deep sea and the vast universe are really grounding in a way, and remind me of how beautiful and strange and big our world is.
That's why i have 3 aquariums... not even close to the same, but they say staring at fish for 20 mins a day lowers yer blood preassure. Not sure of it's true, but i can believe that.
personally? i’m terrified of the deep sea. even the thought of being on a small-medium sized boat in open water kinda gives me the willies. i still watch all of your videos because they’re so informative, interesting and beautifully crafted. as always, very well done!
Agreed. I appreciate the beauty of the deep sea and the necessity of protecting the life there... but actually personally going there even if it's in the world's toughest submarine? Screw that, I like it up here where it's sunny and warm and _not_ potentially hiding gigantic abyssal monstrosities.
The second you post, I click. I absolutely love these videos. Edit: you deserve so much more attention for the work you do. Your editing and commentary style is perfect for the topics you cover.
Taking nothing away from current academics.....I just think that kids would greatly benefit from learning not only the information you, Leo, share but equally they would benefit to learn that the creator of these films is a young man whose been on this journey for many many years, workibg so hard to develop what we see today. There are kids out there that would truly appreciate you. LEO.
Thank you Lorrie, I really appreciate that. I’m often quite nervous when I show myself on camera but I think you’re right, it could send a very powerful message to young nature enthusiasts to never feel too small or young to pursue your dreams and get out there doing what you love. I’ll be keeping this comment in mind going forward, so thank you once again :)
@@NaturalWorldFacts Nervous? Even your earlier ( and super younger version of yourself) videos you didn't seem nervous. But you know it's the most talented / passionate artist who had stage fright upon performance. Simply put, your the total package, Leo. Boy, I can only image....but I'm certain your younger self couldn't be prouder.
@@NaturalWorldFacts it's also worth visiting the aquarium. Maybe you'll get a special tour and insight if you mention your brilliant YT channel. Keep up the great work! 🙂💪
It’s top of my list if I ever visit the USA! I’d love to see it (and a cheeky special tour would be incredible). If I ever get such an opportunity, I’ll be sure to document it.
These last few months have been hard for me, but during them, I've found immense comfort from your videos. Your voice is very soothing, and it's like the rest of what's going on gets to melt away for 15-20 minutes at a time. I can focus in on a topic I love (nature/science/discovery) and just relax. Thank you for making these, for so many reasons. I'd also like to thank you for taking the time to be one of the few sources of science/nature-based content (that I've come across! I'm sure there's more out there but it can be difficult to find it. .__. ) that makes a point to not try to force it to be exciting. It is exciting on it's own! The natural world, exploration of it, and the incredible things which live near us are amazing. I feel absolute wonder when learning about them.
Thanks Grey, that really means a lot to me. Creating and sharing these videos is an absolute pleasure, and I completely agree that the excitement and wonder of the natural world speaks for itself with no need to exaggerate. That exaggeration was something that often bugged me about RU-vid wildlife content, so I’m delighted to hear that you’ve noticed a difference in my videos.
Your video documentaries are a blessing and beautifully well-done. May you continue to find peace and prosperity by teaching others of the importance of life; that it is worth saving and preserving for the newer generations.
I can’t wait to watch this in full later!!!! Your videos are seriously top notch brother. I can’t wait to see your channel really blow up. You’re the next Attenborough, 110%.
I really do have a deep interest in what's in our waters. (No pun intended) This channel really does a good job of showing us everything and explaining what we want to know. Thank you for your videos Leo Hope everyone had a great Xmas and all the best for '22 💙
I must ask, and as you mentioned, why do some animals convergently evolve other traits, while these ones mimic the traits instead? Why? Has science been able to answer, or at least provide a theory as to why?
Yes! Convergent evolution arises due to two distinct species in distinct locations evolving similar traits in response to similar conditions. Mimicry occurs in a species as a direct result of another species found nearby. It isn’t necessarily evolving to occupy the same niche or due to the same conditions, but instead due to the advantages of physically resembling another species with traits that help it deter predators etc.
Does energy conservation factor at all into mimicry? I watched your other video on deep sea gigantism and the theories surrounding it, and am wondering if it’s “easier” on an organism living that deep to visually mimic another animal than it is to evolve other advantages. Like taking the path of least resistance.
it is probably far simpler to aquire traits related to your appearance, than that of complicated defensive measures. While they essentialy give the same advantage under the right cirumstances. The path of least resistance would apply.
I swear, each time I watch one of this guys videos, the subscriber count goes up by a lot! When I first discovered him last week, he was at 395K or so, now at 410K! Well deserved success!
once again Leo, you give us another chapter in the deep sea ecosystem and the fauna that uses everything at their means. I have known about frog fish and Scorpion fish for some time and frog fish truly are weird and wonderful unless your a fish. Fastest mouth in the ocean besides the large predatory Pipe fish. They can suck up several fish at a time. Again truly horrifying if you're a fish. I loved your hands on video when you explored the shallow tidal pools. I found it interesting to see you getting your hands dirty, so to speak. Keep them coming :-D
I am very greatful to get to watch such beautiful, interesting, well made films. From the information, your passion for marine life, the music, the video clips and your lovely calming voice, it all makes for a such beautiful videos and an outstanding channel.
I really wanted to become a marine biologist before, but this field isn't highly supported yet in my country. So I just drew aquatic animals to at least relieve my frustrations lmao. I'm glad this channel exists so I can still know more about the deep sea even though I had to leave this dream behind. :')
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!! I'm so happy for the photographers and the guys who record this type of stuff like bioluminescence!! Being able to see that, in real life must be amazing!!!
I freaking love your work man. I'm going to go on a hike in the woods now here in Oregon and take some macro photography. Since you get me motivated. Nature is amazing
It's very cool that you do this I might attempt to but I have a terrible voice lol I love how accurate these facts and observations are I'm currently working on becoming a biologist and or wildlife photographer 😊
Hey buddy! I almost forgot about this channel. I'm happy to see you have so many subscribers now. The last time I checked there were about 10k only. Wishing you success ♥️. Btw do you remember me? :D
When I went snorkeling for the first time, I saw the banded snake eel and definitely freaked out. I looked it up after but even as a human it fooled me.
This channel is like good movie on netflix in holiday. And the narrator voice is like a warm blanket in winter. Even better is about knowledge that you don’t have to try hard to learn 💖
This channel is so wonderful! I love your videos so, so much. The visuals in combination with the narrators voice and the provided information is just perfect
I was hooked instantly... your voice is perfect.... I watched one via autoplay, and went to your channel, hoping it had more content... Did a happy dance in my head, then I read the bio and I can't believe you're so young! You should be so proud. I'm so sick of stupid tiktok videos drowning out the content I would want to see... and I'm sorry, but nature and science programmes, they always sound more mystical, if it's a British narrator, slow, steady voice, unobtrusive, yet sneakily filling heads with knowledge. There are some great ones with other accents, but I think it's basically because I was raised on Sir David Attenborough, who dominated the natural world documentaries. They're VERY hard to find now. Love Island? TOWIE??? Might as well just shove marshmallows in their heads. I wish I knew what the hell I was doing with even THIS app, I'm 47 lol, I'm a massive fan of PCs... But there isn't enough of this kind of content and RU-vid is just silly videos on tik tok... the thirst for knowledge is being lost... We are told what to do by apps and we aren't left wondering... . I loved The Planets. The guy who voiced that, I've listened to him a lot..... Bring back education, not fill heads with even more nonsense about what some celebrity did that day... Big thumbs up. Liking and subscribed. And I think your channel would be perfect for my friends autistic son, who us fascinated with "monsters" ❤
Just came from ZFrank1's video of Deception in the Rainforest which covers mimicry in the jungle and then i am recommended yours!!! The youtube algo is not broken after all!!!
Love y'all's work, research, knowledge, and video's iam trying to get a grant right now to make to the challenger deep and to find what know one else has dreamed of so much to learn about our own planet but everyone else is worried about mars let's learn our world first
your documentaries are really professional nat-geo level man! You should send some of your work to them and see if you can get them to bankroll your work
The best part of mimicry is that these organisms aren't aware that they are the mimic of the model for the mimic. It's just pure evolution and chance at its finest
I seen where they was doing a study on dragon fish and they was wondering if they took a baby from the two pink ones and put it on a different color coral, if it would stay pink or change, and it changed, I thought that was pretty cool
@@NaturalWorldFacts Thank you very much. and i certainly did, thank you. Best wishes for 2022. cant wait to see what wonders you will show us next time. :)
Another amazing video! Always stunning! Great work! I'm gonna wait patiently for the otter video you hopefully have time to do. Thanks for sharing again! I love all your videos! 😁😁😊😊🥰🥰🥰
you talked about convergent evolution there at the end. any chance we could get a video on the whole convergent crab evolution theory? i think it’s called carcinisation.
@@NaturalWorldFacts hi Leo I’ve been doing a few RU-vid videos on my channel since we last spoke. Thanks to your amazing help we can edit them better now so thanks so much. How are you your videos are amazing by the way and your knowledge is immense 🐸💚🐸
"A mechanism by which one animal pretends to be something it's not in order to take advantage of another" Ah, so they're the animal equivalents of online catfish.
