My boss is the most competitive and driven person I know and highly successful. Besides that he has no life, he's consumed with making more and more money. Finding balance in life is hard for these people.
@@Carrera6rennsport that’s hard if their only goal is money. In my personal case is money of course, but not only money, also chooses in life and joys that money provides.
@@googleuser1225 22:30 He relates the story about a conversation he had with Kobe after Kobe got blown out by the Celtics in 2008 Finals. Kobe tells him he threw everything at them (the Celtics) *but the kitchen sink* . Grover looks at Kobe and asks him " What the hell are you saving the sink for ?" In other words, Grover is telling Kobe that even though you think you did all you could to win, you still left something in the tank, by your own admission. So next time don't leave anything in the tank. Next time leave everything out there on the floor.
There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: Those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed. 💪
This was the best interview with him. Pat your ability to get Tim to go deeper and flesh out this into a real conversation was just great. It was so genuine. Thank you.
The pure passion and emotion in his voice talking about Kobe gave me a lump in my throat. To see and hear that much awe out of one human for another is incredible.
@Yeralkhan Slam I think 🤔 both, you have those who were born with the capabilities and brain power where there were no mentors in their life, and they are now legends. They were able reach a level of success that the 99% don’t .
WARNING! Don't watch this video while sleep deprived you will feel guilty about going back to bed.lol. Symptoms include: Motivation and stronger work ethic.
im sleep deprived right now cuz i want more money to invest im working like an animal right now like im living paycheck to paycheck but got a beater car for free and live in my parents crib but im putting myself in these positions cuz im 22 but wanna retire early!!!!!! by at least 30!!!!!
Patrick is such a phenomenol interviewer he always asks the best questions that yield the most indepth and beneficial information and lays it bare, no agendas,no double meaning.Well Done.
To each his own. I’m busy now, missing some stuff now. So that I can choose vacation- time with family, a little traveling, exploring- without sacrificing my economic stability. Enough is not enough when you get old and ability to work likely becomes less… and you don’t have enough to live until you die. That’s broken to an extent; you can’t sacrifice everything in the present or the future will be- lonely. PBD has several vids talking about balance and family and life. 100% work is just as wrong as not working enough. Regrets happen when you look back and see the cost of some of your choices provided neither a return on your effort nor a benefit to your important relationships. Even this video mentioned doing well ow, there/ and rewarding yourself “being in the moment” with family on vaca \when/
More amazing contontent, thank you pat. When your running at the top of the game you can raise up people you never even met... Your doing that every day
The best video ever! Have bought multiple copies of Relentless thanks to your talk before and holy crap if I am seeing a new book I am digging my heels to it by this guy! This guy is an absolute killer, the best to learn from! What a mentor!
Pat - It would be difficult but you should try to get Kobe’s dad on for an interview. He seems to not do interviews or MAYBE no one has considered reaching out to him. I would love to hear his own story plus his parenting strategy to make such a competitive, successful, and alpha son. He might of not been a perfect parent but he did some things clearly right.
I believe Kobe was more like his mother…she was the disciplinarian…his father just happened to play basketball which allowed Kobe to immerse himself in the sport. Kobe and his dad were completely different personalities.
This is the type of interview I wanna listen, especially right now. I am now working as an IT Training Manager, and this proved my point that my result is dependent on how my trainees are willing to do things, like learning and practice.
11:00 Participation (watching games) rather than actually winning (being in the game) 38:15 Being different scares people. That’s why everybody tries to fit in. *Winning requires you to be different.* (unconventional thinking)
Understand what? That you needed to avoid her and many of what life has to offer so you could make slightly more money? So that you could be in your own world you have more control over? Yeah, I'm sure on your death bed you'll regret you didn't take a 5th job...
@@MVProfitssmh! To provide for her, to afford the best schools, good neighborhoods, college funds, life funds, health insurance, life insurance, clothing, after school activities and etc... So pls chill with all your nonsense because You seem to be overly emotional and lack logic. I won't engage with you or go back and forth again
@@International-BlackMan You might not like my answer but YOU are the one emotional here. Normal since I kind of took a stab at your issues, and that's not my point except to wake you up. Not my point in meddling, I almost never do that, but you did put your situation on a public place, and this is a common issue. Anyway, all the things you list, while very nice for her of course, are NOT what she'd prefer over more time with you, and the thing is, you know it. Especially if she gets slightly less of these things while getting more bonding and time with you. Money you can generate, you can leverage, time is limited and you never get it back.
There is a difference between friends and allies. Winning never lies and winning knows all your secrets. I didn't even know that about Kobe about the languages. Wow! This is definitely up there for my top tier interviews.

What a gem this is... this man was responsible for building 2 greatest most deadliest players that ever played the game of basketball, the level of understanding, sacrifice, comitment,... its out if this world, you get the picture who and why they had so much success, the drive to be the absolute best was there 24/7/365
The guilt of “you don’t have time for your family, you don’t stay home with us, you forget us” Is kinda selfish one. If I was the kid.. I’m gonna tell my Dad that I’ll go with him in his business trips because I want to see my love ones winning. We should stop the culture of holding or telling other people that achieving your full potential is bad. Sometimes it’s called selfishness masked under the name of “For the sake of love ones”. Let’s support each other and go for that goal!
Dude you are speaking for an adult's perspective. She was a little kid what the hell did she care about winning at that time. All she wanted is love. Winning is cool but stop the Bs pls

The obsessed don't have an "end" or peace either. Drive is rooted before age 7 energetically, and I'm surprised that, still today, no one uses THAT power or talks about it's significance! ..and those injuries seem like they are only physical. Nope, they start energetically & show up physically!

When Tim said change their voices so you couldn't tell, and that they all talk the same, my mind bounced back to a book called tribal leadership and that all tribes are rooted in language, and it was a profound moment for me that is all I can say. This whole interview was 🔥 and it went next level for me to hear grover evolving as a speaker from something Pat mentioned at a conference. This interview gets 1st place out of the 3 I have watched. Good job guys and thank you for your time. Now it's time to crack open my book. I wonder if I will buy 14 copies like I did with relentless 😂

Omg!!! This podcast, especially this episode is GOLDEN!! If I had a father like either of them, wow I would be at the top!!. This should get millions of views. So much to learn from here!
What gets me pumped up so much about this context of extreme high performance, the Mamba mentality, MJ etc is that it sends me back to high school. I had the exact same attitude back then. I was training more than anyone else. I had become my own best coach in a sense. Sadly in the sport I was practicing, there was 0 money. To reach world class level, provided you manage to dodge the politics and somehow have loads of money to support yourself, your training, your equipment, food, medical care, travels to competitions it is damn near impossible otherwise. National federations can't or won't do much if it doesn't please the "Grand Master", depending on your country. Lots of world class athletes had their families sell their homes, take massive loans to support their journey to the top; sadly I had none of that, I grew up, had to go to college and get a job to support myself, build a career... I tried to keep performing at a high level, but who was I kidding?! I no longer had the time and proper rest to be able to sustain performance. So whenever this extrême performance mentality comes up, it brings me back and gets me fired up. Tough part I have yet to crack is that that mentality is not only hyper demanding but damn harsh and brutal and I dunno how to manage it with my family. I can take it, I love it, but they, especially my wife cannot understand or handle it. So I keep it turned off most of the time, because if I flip my switch, it's ON!! I become obsessed to outperform myself, become the best ever at what I do. I have very rarely encountered people who share this mentality. That being said, I think I'm getting back on that track because I wanna turn my life around and achieve my goals and I started warning my wife that if she wants us to have a better life as well without minimum requirements of high discipline and dedication it is simply not possible to improve, let alone achieve any goal. I'm still trying to figure out the rest of the way up there. Thank you for reading if you have gotten this far.
Listen, smile, agree, and then do whatever the fuck you were gonna do anyway. ― Robert Downey Jr. Like Tim said when his daughter was begging him to stay, this is what he has to do. Your effort will improve your family mutlifold. Imagine the access that Tim's daughter has now. One phone call and she's going to Ivy league university. It's easier in this decade. Just post your efforts and wins on social media or twitch. Whoever is interested will pay you, if you can perform/entertain them.
Excellent talk. I've found that people are scared to win because they are scared to fail and unfortunately most of us learn too late that failure is the path to winning. You have to improve your failures and keep getting better and better, in order to succeed and we often shy away from the hurt, disappointment and shame that comes with the accompanying failure. Winning is a test of process, endurance and perseverance.
Amazing interview. Wonder if now listening to his stories of Kobe although he’s a replica of the Original, Michael, and Kobe also said without Michael there is no Kobe, that’s why I’m attracted to him, his personality, his mentality, his mindset ! Amazing. Liked Michael but Kobe made me love the game! And somewhat I can relate to Kobe’s mentality
Best channel on RU-vid by a mile. I heard one interview and subscribed instantly. He asks tough questions without a lot of bias or influence and doesn't cut or edit what they say.
This was a really good subject. I love anything with jordan and kobe and their winning mindstate, their drives. I ll be honest i only hit the like because it was on 666 had to get it off that number. I wish these interviewers would get into more detail with Grover on the very-specifics of training and with questions about ideal weight for Kobe/MJ, specific things Jordan did post 1996 title to win another. Same for Kobe post 2010... I feel like specifics get left on the table. I guess I'm hungry for some of those more intriguing details. "What specifically did Mike see as a weakness in his game post-1991? How did he train to get stronger without compromising his leaping ability?" SPECIFICS. Overall tho, this isn't a criticism of the interviewer here. This 1:1 was FANTASTIC.
Thank you for this amazing video. Every time I watch your stuff from favorite Mafia stuff to entrepreneur videos you never let me down. My funds for too tight to be able to make your conference this year, it’s on my budget list to make it next year with my wife/business partner. Many blessings Pat to you and your family and one day our paths will cross and I can give you thanks in person for you being you! Stay blessed.
If you know anything about the careers of the late legend Kobe Bryant and the GOAT Michael Jordan they give this man Tim Grover alot of the credit for their greatness. Tim Grover is a trainer on a different level. If you haven't read his book "Relentless" I suggest you do. Also, there are a few podcasts and video interviews I would suggest to see if you search for them. Thank you for this interview. I will be dissecting it piece by piece because I know there are many, many jewels within. A winner PBD talking with another Winner Tim Grover. Excellence is guaranteed to take place!!!
Awesome interview! I think something that doesn’t get appreciated enough with “winners” is a discussion on just how tactile and calculating winning is. Not just the time spent “training” but how one acts throughout the day: what they eat, which shoes will be worn for what, the kind of toilet paper will be used, who the competition is, etc.Lots of life is planned even if the individual has never formally recognized it.
The #1 key to winning is DESIRE. If you want something bad enough, you will fight like hell to get it, you will let nothing stop you... and you will get it.
This is The best conversation I have ever come across to! Crazy as it sounds: if i was presented with a choice to exchange all my friends with being friend with you 2: I would not think about it for a second!
Winning can be unbearable when trying to achieve something you're not motivated to do. A trick to winning...for me...start with ensuring you're motivated by the task, process and outcomes. For e.g. trying to succeed (win) at a job you hate vs love. The winning process will always be hard though, that's for sure.
