Hello, Nadrel here, So the Protoss units have received a ton of buffs to make them individually stronger as enemies, it seemed fair for the player to be able to use them too. The 3 first missions are pretty easy for one simple reason, I am bad at Protoss and I balanced the game to a point where I was able to win it on "Evil 50" by playing seriously, but without having to scum-save my way to it. The 4th one, I was a bit harsher with the balance because it felt bad for the end of the Protoss to be so not scary. Changes introduced by Moebius are the following Whispers of Doom: - Zeratul has all abilities from the start, and 10% life-steal - No more screen stealing to show you tutorial stuff - Zerg units have a few additional abilities/upgrades (same as for the whole campaign) - Rebalanced Karass and other enemies in the last part to make "Evil Mode" remotely possible. A Sinister Turn: - You get Zeratul, because it made no sense that he left directly after arriving. - A few more enemies, but nothing major. - Secret paths are discovered when you free a preserver, which allow the player to backdoor the Protoss production (or the preservers). I don't like situations where the only path is to attack a very fortified base from the front. Blink is also a neat mechanism which was underused in the Protoss campaign so why not give it to the DTs too. It also makes Evil50/100 a bit more possible. Changes introduced by Nightmare edition: Whispers of Doom: - Stalkers now replaced up to 3 instead of 4. - Mission now timed. Completing Bonus objectives increases the timer. - Slightly more units/different solutions - Cheese for 3rd hatchery removed A Sinister Turn: - Enemy has Nerazim voids, ascendants, and annihilators - Maar brings an escort after his second attack - Mineral fields at enemy bases decreased in size, 1 gas geyser each. - Preservers split up around the map. Each rescued slows maar’s power-up speed, with 1 remaining being the default power-up speed. - Maar has psi storm and a higher power ceiling - Removed places where maar can blink in and get stuck Design thoughts: Whispers of Doom needs more balancing on Evil mode, but some things will happen next patch. The second Protoss mission probably needs a bit more front-door defenses, since there are now ways to avoid those. HHH was a console command I added to the terran missions to test the Hercules. I added it with the SCV to the Protoss missions because I know that some people don't like playing with basic Protoss units when they have already unlocked a ton of stuff on the Terran side. About the Psy Disrupter / Hive Mind Emulator: -Only difference compared to Nightmare is that they work on all races. I disliked that those very strong abilities were mostly only useful on Char.

@@DavidGuild Yeah, they are, apparently. At least mechs, due to the Vanadium Plating I suppose. The better question is - is it a bug or a feature?

It's incongruous that HME only works on Zerg, but Infestor and Dark Archon can mind control all 3 races and they're units to boot.

Considering these missions are meant to be Zeratul's memories, it's pretty hilarious that Stetmann is here. "Egon! When the hell did you go off with Zeratul?" "Uh… last week sir. You sent me, actually." "…That's it, I'm giving up drinking."

Since Stettman and Raynor are in the Laboratory together when Raynor uses the Crystal, it actually makes sense to go HHH and build a Merc compound and get both of them as units in all of the Protoss missions. As in, they're actually using the Crystal to dream they're part of the action too. Also, having Stettman there explains how you get the research bonuses...! Really cool head canon, hahaha ^^

For "in utter darkness" please can you do more normal missions first and unlock the bc and thor first. I want to see how long it is possible to last with bunkers, shield batteries, seige tanks, bc, carrier etc.

Unfortunately it is very unlikely that Grant will try and last for as long as possible. I too would love to see just what he can do with everything at his disposal, but I reckon he would hit the required goal and kill all his stuff to end the mission asap like usual. Still, definitely would be nice though.

SPOILER ALERT: . . . . . . . . . . . . The new version of the mission has a mechanism that will trigger when you survive too long which will cause everything to self-destruct.

Yeah I liked how Grant thought he was so good at not taking health damage all the way through this mission when no, he obviously did take it and it just kept regenning. Classic Grant blindspot.

Since you don't have Vikings, Phoenix will really help counter Air. Toss in a few Missile Frigates from a longer range and you have a good defensive set of air units. Siege Tanks as well plus just endless widow mines once you have an okay defense will eventually escalate to be WILD since there's that 'survive as long as possible' mission. I bet the Phoenix will take down any detectors on the enemy side if they don't take it down in time, protecting those mines. Do we ever get Shield Battery in the WOL Protoss missions? If we do... does it heal Terran's new shield bars??

So, the mod Dev added blink-over spots to sneak into the enemy main base. Something to use if you were trying to make a faster run, and wanted to avoid the fight over the bridge, or needed an out cause you're getting stomped, which I think could really help less experienced players.

so most of the protoss untis are buffed in this version: Zealot +20 HP Stalker +10HP + 10 Shields, regenerates shields quickly after blink High Templar +20 shield +50 max energy, Storm does no friendly fire, added auto attack Dark Templar +40 HP, has blink Archon +40HP, has psi strom, max 100 energy Photon Cannon +5 dmg vs light and biological Shield Battery added Plasma Shield upgrades cost reduced to 150/225/300 from 200/300/400 additionally all protoss units now passively regenerate HP and shield regeneration is increased

Probably not very efficient, but I'd be interested in seeing a mostly Zealot + Medic based bioball, with some supporting units for anti-air.

I would really like to see siege tank, fire colossus, science vessel; as I am very curious whether you can recall a sieged tank or not. Also it would be really funny to just recall a bunch of tanks and colossi onto some unfortunate zerg and watching them get annihilated by radioactive fire and death.

@@GGG_gaming Nope. They stay sieged even when dropped. I found this out while suiciding my Hercules ships into the motherships for the bonus in the Dig.

You will have AIR units so you should clear whole map with them. I think Hercules dropping Immortals and Firebats on top of the zerg would be fun. Although Siege Tanks + Colossi superior range also seems funny. You should go with either of these. Or go full on spec ops style and get DT and Spectre and drop them with Hercules.

@@Ricardo_Rick time stamp 26:28 look at the mini map there no ping though but that spot FOW was removed when the preserver are free The mod creator probably relied on people reading text more but grant was distracted with a lot of things to notice

How about having an army of primarily Fire Collosii, supported by a Science Vessel and a couple of Missile Frigates? It is a bit more Protoss heavy than the other ideas in the comments, but you can't use Protoss units on most maps, and you also get to try out your shiny new Science Vessel, which you haven't used yet.

For terran protoss you need to get bunkers siege tanks and photon cannons with the rest of the protoss the ultimate defensive line for the last mission or just get missile frigates to go with carriers., and for the feral zerg you should probably try combined terran air with colossus energy.

I like the idea of a mech combo. The immortal is just a Goliath but with bulk. My vote is Goliath, hellion, and laser giraffe with medic support and possibly the swoll Goliath as needed. Immortals tanking for helions sounds fun.

SCVs are apparently the best mechanics in the universe. The standard training course included how to repair Protoss Immortals better than even the Protoss can do themselves.

Oh yeah, the little flavor blurb on auto refineries says that it uses protoss warp technology to teleport the gas to a nearby command center. I forgot about that.

Grant forgot Hercules is also a Barracks, entire time i am yelling "LAND YOUR HERCULES" Then he decided to sac it, that was IRRITATING!

It's justifiable in that having a superfactorybarracks like that from the start is cheaty (especially since the mission was no problem anyway). Avoiding that is why he sacrificed the initial 5 probes after all. Now, do I think this was a deliberate choice rather than him forgetting it can produce units? Hah, nope. I believe his realization that this was the case did come at around when he said it did.

Also forget the Herc, the 3rd Protoss research being just RIGHT THERE and Grant just not picking it up, that's what's been killing me all game. At least he realized right at the end

Automated gas would be more balanced if you had to load SCVs into the refinery. As is it's quite broken because you basically get 3 free instantly produced SCVs that are untargetable, usually at the start of the mission.

damn, i was really hoping for immortal, missile frigate, science vessel. i honestly just want to see more missile frigates in every comp, definitely the most stand out unit so far for sure

Zerglot is an actual achievement online. I did a Melee game where I used infesters to not just get Toss units but Terran too. I was going medivac, Hydra, Zlots. My allies were laughing. It is actually not a bad comp. Medivacs heal both and hydras are a great unit. Zlots help clear ground (I had too many minerals no enough gas, Zlots only cost minerals.) My allies had gone Ultras/lings and voids. Medivacs helps heal ultras as well and voids were OP as always.

Honestly I love the immortal firebat combo so far, it looks really strong and it would be fun to see it next mission still. Hercules drops do open up a lot of potential though, dropping onto the tendrils with a massive protoss-terran mixed so cool considering how strong the protoss units can be. Also science vessels for that bonus attack speed is going to be so broken with stuff like immortals which are already really strong. Also for something very cheesy, zeratul + DT drops. Mass doom dropping dark templar would be hilarious on the last tendril.

Hmmmm, if I remember right, in LotV sentries get a heal shield ability. With the harden shielded immortals that is so much overpowered synergy it is nuts.

Observers with the Havoc debuff is clever, but in this mission it means your starting Observer makes Maar turn to ash 30% faster. Neat. When you reach In Utter Darkness, it sounds fun with Siege Tanks and Fire Colossi. All damage, all range, all AOE, maximum power - no, don't attack me with air units gg

All of these missions will be cake with the moebius boys. :P You do have shield batteries, which are really great because every single unit you have has them. Diamondback, Hellion, Colossus, marauder might be fun. Draw the enemy into the laser giraffes, slow so they can't escape fire, and come off scott free from hardened shield. Goliath Immortal seems good to have chunky with AA/AG mixed in Reaper Colossus would honestly own the Overmind Tendril mission. Both have cliffing, great against light, buildings, and mutas.

Anyone else really wanna see a mass Chargelot, HERC, maybe-Medic comp? Just have a bunch of undying punchy boiz steamrolling though bases like they were never even built? Maybe toss in a Siege Tank or Missile Frigate for some confetti... seems fun

Let's see Hercules, Collosus, Science Vessel. Hercs provide anti-air and transportation. Science vessels give healing and buffs

I'd say, do a mixed comp, doing the Terran HHH cheat, and having like a few collossai and zealots and things like that with some terran 'merc' units, like reapers the hellions and things like that, basically the story is, Zeratul was unable to afford that many of his own protoss breatherin, however he managed to stop by a nearby Joey Ray's and recruted some plucky pirates who want to plunder some of the old UED tech left behind during the broodwars final hours, and so Zeratul and the few protoss people he was able to convince into joining him, the collossai who show up to help out, and the terran pirates looking to scavange the remains of UED ships and tech from around the overmind's corpse, set out on this adventure. Hope my little story interests you.

Airtoss plus the mmMMMISSILE FRIGATE seems like it'll be busted. That plus siege tanks and if you UPGRADE YOUR MISSILE TURRETS FOR THE AOE, you'd probably be able to just keep Aiur.

Colossus-Marauder-Marine-Medic-Frigate. Mobile, long range, self-healing and fast moving combo. Siege tanks would compete with Colossi. As would Banshees. So that's the comp for next mission. Really looking forward to In Utter Darkness with just rows of Planetary Fortresses, bunkers and siege tanks.

I honestly think what would be the best composition, is waiting until you unlock Battlecruisers, then completing the Protoss missions with Voidray/Missile Frigate/Carrier/BattleCruiser on In Utter Darkness, and Goliath/Missile Frigate(or medic)/Immortal/Colossus for Echoes of the Future.

Oh god Siege Tanks Fire Colossi is gonna be so strong at In Utter Darkness. Anyways for the next mission I say Colossi Reaper Hellion, the ultimate Anti-Light composition. Medics are optional. No matter how the Zerg attack, they'll be smothered with a blanket of fire, and Reapers help with buildings, Air, and whatever else slips past your firewall. Purify the Zerg infestation.

Hmm... Interesting. Regenerative biosteel, or whatever the name is, affects Protoss units. Regenerating immortals, scary or scary? Healed by medics on top! Imagine if they were vanguards... Edit: apparently it's not biosteel but a common Protoss buff in this mod. The result doesn't change however.

What about, for Utter Darkness, void ray, siege tank, missile frigate, and diamondback or immortals? Tanks and void rays would probably melt most hybrid, missile frigates heal while handling clumpy units with their small splash and missile pods, while diamondback/immortals have hardened shields so they should be able to take a few hits, even from strong targets, without dying. ....actually, can a hive mind emulator steal the omegalisks on the edges? They'd make pretty good tanking units, right? Probably shouldn't get the Terran heroes though, just in case they softlock the mission.

Would be cool to have the campaigns have a version where all nexus/command centre/hatch would have all options of drone/acc/probe and you would go trhough the campain mixing and matching units as you wish, also could have the upgrades, but increased ilenemy difficulty to make up for it Comps like imortal - siege thank - science vessel with zergling buffer Also overpowered but really cool would be zerglings with stimpack, missile pod brood lords, etc

Keep it up! Have Raynor dab on the Overmind's corpse. Also, this is the first time I'd propose holding off on In Utter Darkness until you have a full Char Invasion roster. The possibilities for defense are massive, and doing it too early would mean missing an amazing opportunity for a full mixed composition defense.

Tbh a sinister turn is pretty much trivialized by high Templar anyway. Yeeting Maar’s energy with feedback makes him a joke, even on brutal. Though I like the escorts idea nightmare added for sure!

Let's see ... the next mission is the overmind mission on aiur, so ... what about goliath colossus? Goliaths got the colossus' air weakness covered, and colossus deal with the little mongrels that like to chew on the goliaths. Could be fun. On the other hand, reaper/colossus could do interesting things with cliff jumping, but I don't recall that coming up very often. And the last one is the ultimate defense mission so there's a ton of cool combos you could use. Siege tank/PF+reaper/storm could be a fun base defense, and then phoenix lifting scary stuff into range for vikings and missile turrets could be a blast as well. Just think how fast a few 9 range missile turrets will shred the hybrid. Another fun comp could be void ray + missile frigate, but since each of those units is OP alone, you might not enjoy the ensuing roflstomp. Also, unrelated to the protoss missions, you have got to try dropship banshee sometime. I think the protoss missions have too much detection around, but I've found that combo surprisingly fun.

Magbe Collosi, Observer, Science vessel, Sky frigate for the final mission. Would be nice to see the collosi burn everything from the hills from a huge distance, the sky frigates are there for the AA. :D Edit: not final mission, the next one

The best part about the "HHH" code is that you get a Hercules, which then allows you to make tanks, which the Hercules can then pick up and drop them when they are in seige mode... a whole lot of fun!!!! Being able to drop six seiged tanks at a time. Melts everything!!!

I would like to see a Fire composition on Aiur. Something like Hellion Colossus, and for science I want to know if Dropships or Herculeses can carry Colossus. The idea of Science vessels to recall Zeratul to the tendrils that Zaxton Hong suggested is also very fun. And the last stand mission I would like to see with the Thors equivalent and Goliaths.

Suggestion: unlock at least the Viking. Helps with the next two Protoss missions, as Void Rays and Phoenixes don't have as much range, and Carriers are supply extensive. Maybe the Thor as well so we can see what changes there are, if they have the AA weapon switch like they do in ladder. Ideally I wish to see you take on In Utter Darkness with the entire Terran and Protoss tech tree, and see how well you'd do if you tried to hold on as long as possible.

Hmmmm. For the next mission, go mass herc, with archons as the gas dump. It's not a particularly difficult mission IIRC, and i think a mass herc mission will be fun. For in utter darkness, seige tanks, cannons, and anti air.

I've heardd hellion is nice unit vs zerg so fregate+hellion+mech toss stuff should be good, right? We all know how boring defensive mission without time limit can be so we don't keep it serious... but probably this is the time to test nightmare Amon power for real?

medic/archon seems like it would be a terrible idea because medics don't fix shields, so they would only heal an archon with 9 or fewer hit points left.. except wait, these archons seem to have been buffed to have 5x normal hit points? medicing them would still be less useful than on any other unit though. Immortal is definitely a high tier terran unit. It has heavy armor and big guns, what more could you want?

The next mission is a lot of lings, a lot of mutas, some roach and some ultra, so reaper+DT? The DT's can hit the tough stuff, the reaper fast attacks can deal with swarms and the air, and you try to full clear the map? For defence, it depends on if fire colossus does the burn thing that firebats/hellions/perditions do. If colossus burns, then you dont need firebat or hellion, so colossus, siege tank, bunker?

Maybe immortal Goliath science vessel with a few zetas? Stupid long range goliaths counter air and help with smaller ground stuff while immortals tank and kill armored units. Science vessel buffs them to help deal with numbers and recalls when things go wrong or when you just need to reposition. Zeta repair damage and slow whatever gets too close.

Ultralisks do in fact explode into broodlings on death. It's a strong buff against tank-marine style which is very strong here, since broodings cause a lost of friendly fire damage.
