Takes me straight back to my childhood, with my Dad watching The Money Programme in the 1980s and eating his supper, the remainders of the leftover cold roast lamb chunks, with toast, Colman’s English mustard, onion, and black pepper. I also love and collect old computer books, because they remind of this time as well. Great theme tune to this programme, also always takes me straight back to my childhood/teens, with my Dad watching this programme, he was obsessed with money, he always watched The Money Programme.
Did you know this tune was originally written for the film "The Carpetbaggers" , composed by the one and only Elmer Bernstein? It's very much in his "explosive" style
Tonight on 'The Money Programme', we're going to look at money. Lots of it. On film, and in the studio. Some of it in nice piles, others in lovely clanky bits of loose change, some of it neatly counted into fat little hundreds, delicate fivers stuffed into bulging wallets, nice crisp clean cheques, pert pieces of copper coinage thrust deep into trouser pockets, romantic foreign money rolling against the thigh with rough familiarity,
I do too. It's about time The Money Programme was reinstated because there are a number of crooks around and undercover reporters should go after them.
Here's the theme played by Jimmy Smith in Lalo Schifrin's arrangement - as used by the BBC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_ffcUa0-V5k.html
