I think a lot is said here about the refusal to cave when the position is perilously close to lost. There are so many layers to your Vegas experience and how fatigue, time trouble, the day of the event, all conspire towards the ultimate outcome. Perrine played so nicely here, but your tenacity and perhaps any additional X-factors aligned in a weirdly cosmic way. Congratulations on an exciting victory. Your modesty and deep self-awareness and your humble honesty on your own play bring a special humanity to these videos. Chess masters are held in such high regard in my mind, but it's really reassuring to know there are many like you who are genuine, self-critical, and open about their journey. Thanks for this series, I learned a lot. When you make GM, please consider inviting me to the party! ;)

Again an excellent series of videos highlighting the ups and downs of tournament play. I have mentioned before that you have a tendency to play in a less enterprising way against higher rated players. I am also guilty of this and I am not sure how to rectify this problem. Thanks again and I look forward to your next tournament!

Wow... The way your opponent collapsed at the end was something I never thought I would see an FM do, he played such an amazing game, granted you were a little unsure about your system but still I have a feeling that his advantage must have been astronomic at more than one stage... Congrats for holding on, it was really inspiring.

@@samyealland6123 "sacrificing" the bishop was totally unnecessary, not playing h4 at any moment was also incredibly questionable, so the rook he blundered, was only the straw that broke the camel's back....

I can see how Dalton beat Illia earlier in the tournament. Really great play from him other than that blunder

Man you really got lucky, I know I was completely lost in a game, but we both had like 30 seconds with delay, and my opponent blundered a piece and I won... you really dont feel good after, but a point is a point... good game though Kostya, and an excellent series of recaps, i look forward each day to see your next one, i especially liked your "Russian Schoolboy" title 😂. Keep up the awesome work. 👍

Hmm...played ...e5-e4 to open the position while White was better developed and had more space. Very suspicious! Looked like one of those "I'm not sure what i want to do but I feel like I need to do something active." moves.

does this mean the move a4 wins by force?

I think it was kind of courageous to "change it up " in the opening but even at my level the odds are against it working. It's not over til its over. Too bad for your opponent who blundered under time pressure. Easy to happen. Congrats on coming out ahead for the tournament.

Hey Kostya, really enjoy your channel and overall coaching style. I have a question not related to this video specifically. Are you aware of any chess software that will analyze all of your games as a whole and provide a report on strengths weaknesses (ie, types of tactical blunders, strategic blunders, etc.)? Or simply highlight/list all of the places where you took a less than optimal line according to the engine?
