9:00 Actually George R Martin likely based it off the death of Crassus who was apart of the First Triumvirate in Rome Crassus was the wealthiest man in Rome and tried to invade Partia but his entire army was destroyed and when he tried to bribe his way out when he was captured they poured molten gold into his mouth an irony for his love of money and greed. Viserys similarly dies because of his greed.
