After the destruction of the Khwarazmian Empire in 1221, the armies of the Great Khan continue westwards into Georgia and parts of the Kievan Rus. In 1223, the Mongols suffer a major defeat but return years later to bring about the utter annihilation of the Volga Bulgarian state. In today's video we explore the Bulghar destruction of 1236.
