@@cyka7705 because at that point in history they were basicly part of/vassals under what was known as the golden horde- one of several parts of the great mongol empire split among the great khan's descendents...

I am so glad to hear attila throat singing and instruments. Thrones of britannia+ attila can be heard in the compositions. It is like Medieval 3, but aoe4.. heh. Still waiting for Imperiu... Rus themes. GLORY TO TENGRI! (hah)

Yeah the Mongol throat singing is a staple of Mongol theme music lately, in Civ 6 and here. It makes for an epic theme when mixed with drums like this.

I saw a couple comments stating that the rider in the poster is a female horse archer but I always thought it was a young Mongolian boy leading the charge. Sort of like a Mongolian Griffith (for those who know who that is from the Berserk anime) which would be five times more badass. And no not cause it is a boy but because it’s a literal warrior child leading his people to victory and a new homeland.

Confirmed it’s a woman. Whenever you start a game as Mongols, the Khan is randomly generated as either the male or female gender. I honestly prefer the male

Mongols were originally intended to have no Imperial Age.

During development, The mongols were not intended to be able to advance to the imperial age, and so no music was created for them. But ofc, they would be either comically OP in castle, but near worthless in late game, so you can see why that was scrapped.

@@appledoo That makes sense, plus historically it makes no sense as they were quick to adapt the technology of the people they conquered, like Chinese engineers that could build siege weapons to break through fortresses on the field.
