My dad always whistled this when we’d be wandering round the shops and if I got lost I could just listen out and I’d find him ❤️ till we meet again dad 💔
I bet nearly all of us Asians (Especially Chinese) has heard this song since childhood and even at special/formal events (Lunar New Year, Weddings, Funerals etc.)
The Japanese of her generation oso are huge fans. I was working with a Japanese company & was surprised to hear Teresa's songs... Older generation staff
This is the song that I danced with my mom at my wedding. This is also the song I played when I sent her ashes away in 2019. Sometimes I don't feel like listening to this song because of the memories, but it is good to reflect on it once in awhile. Love you mom. One of her favorite songs.
Even I’m a non-chinese but listening to this song reminds me to my late father 😭 Living in a multi-cultural country makes him loves this song so much. Rest in peace ayah😭🌹
Salam..sy dah dengar lagu ni dari zaman kanak2..tetiba je dngr balik lagu dr youtube..terus teringat teresa teng..lagu dari melody dn penyanyi terbaik dari dulu kini dan selamanya...💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
A little story about this song, my wife is mandarin and loves karaoke.before covid we would get together with 2 or 3 other couples who were also American and Mandarin. At that time her English was not very good. We decided it would be cool if i taught her an English song and surprise our friends next karaoke party. We practiced all week, her learning a song by Karen Carpenter , they long to be , towards the end of the week we were practicing and stopped for a minute and she suggested that I learn a song in mandarin, pinyin, so she chose this song, i have taken classes and listened well enough to pronounce words correctly. That being said, I can’t carry a tune is a bucket , and it’s humorous when doing karaoke at home , so the night comes and I announce we have a surprise, my wife sings , beautifully i might add , everyone was amazed, when she was done, she said we have another surprise and i , dont know if you would call it singing, but everyone gave me a sitting ovation and commented on how well i did ,, now , few years later i bust out the machine and make sure doors and windows are closed
I'm from Italy, nobody here knows Teresa Teng. I discovered her by fortune and I started investigating her life, her works, her ideas and I fell in love with her! I feel like her voice is a mother's voice and I am her little child, listening without understanding the meaning of the words but feeling her infinite love flowing through her voice
I’ m from France, and same for me, i discovered Teresa by fortune on RU-vid! And what a great artist! An imortal legend, I have so much respect for all she accomplished during her life. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@Jeff Brsn Salut ! Tu sais ?
I'm a mainland Chinese, when I was a kid, my mom always listen Teresa's songs in her car. This is the reason why I can sing all Teresa's songs. Teresa is a legend of all the Chinese people. If she still alive, I will go to her concert definitely.
The passing of Teresa Teng (Deng Siow Peng called her Little Deng. They share the same surname. DSP himself was also little and both wielded so much power. Teresa was just a singer but was known world-wide) was such a loss to the world.
In another 2 years (2025), it'll be Teresa Teng's 30th anniversary in passing. I still get goose bumps listening to some of her songs. Like Bruce, Teresa's posthumous fame continues to endure. She'll always be missed by her older fans, while ever gaining younger new ones that will readily recognize and appreciate the inimitable voice of this singing legend. Long live Teresa!
Growing up with native Dutch, American Rock and German songs, I learned about Teresa in 2015 and listen to her songs every single day now. My wish is to visit Her grave and pay my respect to Teresa on May 8th, 2025.
I'm French born Chinese and I'm not from her generation, yet I've been growing up with this song. When I was kid my dad had a Chinese restaurant, and he used to play her songs. Surprisingly, I remembered this melody years later after hearing it through a Chinese music app during my first travel in China. At that time I also met a very special person and this song is intimately associated with her. She told me her dad was fan of her, just like my dad. During Christmas, she sang this song and it literally made me fell in love with her a second time. I secretly hoped I would play this song for our wedding. Even if we aren't together today, this song and its memories will remain safe in my heart.
As a hindu teenager. I had to take part in a Chinese competition and i had to learn a mandarin song. It was really hard since I've never heard any mandarin songs nor spoken the language itself before. But then i chose this song and came 3rd in the competition out of 300 participants. Im in love with the Chinese culture, people and ofc their songs. Love from Mauritius🇲🇺 Edit: Hahaha been 2yrs since this comment, thank you for the love people, this piece still brings out a special memory about that specific day. Keep spreading the love🥹❤️
The thing is Teresa rose from extreme poverty to become the biggest Asian pop diva is something to really admire. There was a time when her family had to struggle for a bowl of rice. Her parents didn't had enough money to send her to schools so she had to become part time singer in order to pay her school fees and also to feed her families. For this reason, she was often absent from school which later annoyed her principle and he told her to either chose school or music. Considering the family's economic situation, Teresa chosed second and quitted the school. Since then she became full time singer and her career began to climb up gradually. Later, she used her hard earned money to send her brothers to study in US. Many people have no idea how much Lijun has done for her family and society. She was a sole bread winner for her family for much of her life. This is what her mother said. A total respect to this great woman! 🙏
English Translation You ask me how deep my love for you is, How much I really love you… My affection is real. My love is real. The moon represents my heart. You ask me how deep my love for you is, How much I really love you… My affection does not waver, My love will not change. The moon represents my heart. * Just one soft kiss is enough to move my heart. A period of time when our affection was deep, Has made me miss you until now. * You ask me how deep my love for you is, How much I really love you. * ** Go think about it. Go and have a look [at the moon], The moon represents my heart. Repeat * Repeat **
i'm not chinese at ALL, but my mom's best friend is chinese-indonesian and she and her daughter lived with us when i was little and we listened to a LOT of teresa teng's music, her stuff has such an important place in my heart. we stan a queen, rest in peace teresa.
In my country (not China), during the Chinese New Year eve, you will definitely hear this song being played in various places. On TV, radio, etc. This song brings back old memories.
I'm Hispanic and I live in Texas, but somehow I found her greatest hits album at my local CD store. I have no correlation with anything Chinese, but damn was this a great find. I love her music even though I have no idea what she is saying.
You're not alone brother, the first time I've heard of this song is from a man playing it on the harmonica to two geese in a park. She was the most internationally celebrated Chinese singer, and Chinese is the second most popular language out there
@@disguisedjoe8643 Wow that sounds like it would have sounded amazing on the harmonica. I really do love her music. I completely understand why she was so celebrated.
Look up the lyrics to this song, the english translation is still beautiful. my mother and father used to sing this to eachother, i savor those memories now.
I was watching the trailer of a Thai series called Moonlight Chicken and immediately realised the OST used. I love this song so much. I don't speak mandarin but this song has a homey feeling, like I'm reminded of my family and my hometown. Thank you so much for uploading this. Love from Malaysia.
I love this song so much, and I loved it even more when my parents told me they used this song for their wedding. I used to sing this song with my grandpa when I was a kid, it brings me some very happy memories :)
Jacob Cleaver That would be really cute! Maybe you can translate it? There is also a more modern/ remixed version of this song that is a bit more simple to sing in my opinion :)
Jacob Cleaver If you find the English lyrics you can sing that :) I copied+pasted from this site edonn.com/2003/09/18/moon-represents-my-heart/ English and Hanyu Pinyin Lyrics of The Moon Represents My Heart English Translation You ask me how deep my love for you is, How much I really love you… My affection is real. I’m french, I don’t know the lyrics of this song but I actually in tears, it’s so beautiful. Her voice is so calming and the song has this slow beat that is kinda nostalgic and happy yet sad I don’t have the words but this song is pure magic that sent my heart to the bûcher 😔💔
An imortal legend. I’m French, and one day I have the chance to found ramdomly a TERESA TENG song on RU-vid. What a great artist. One of my fave artist now. @@anam4484 Who would have thought that Muslim is not a nationality. I think you should write a book about your findings and enlighten the people with your wisdom. love 😬😬
My late mom used to sing this song to cheer me up when I was a child. Listening to this song reminds me of my mother, though she had left me 16 yrs ago. Thank you Teresa Teng. Your lovely songs will continue to touch my heart forever
Teresa Teng (aka Teng Li Chun, Deng Li Jun...) was truly an early Chinese ambassador to the world. As an example, I'm a non-Asian American who became a fan of hers in 1999. She reached people all over the globe. Her music will continue to live in the hearts of millions for generations to come.
I can't find any brazilian in here, but I'm from Brazil and I used to listen to this music every time my ballet teacher made a different class. I was a kid, and i loved singing to this song. For a long time I couldn't find it, but now that I did, I'm crying. This music made part of my childhood, and I'm grateful that I had the chance to listen to this incomparable voice. I hope that she is on a better place now ❤️
I played this song for my grandpa when he was in the hospital last year to let him know how much I care for him. Also the final song played during service for his burial. This song speaks the emotions I could not quite put into words. I love you grandpa.
Before kpop took over the world, we have The Teresa Teng. The eternally goddess of Asian music. The one who pushed Asian communities across the world especially in Asia.
A Teresa album should be packed inside the next space ship that is gonna to leave our solar system and travels to the other part of our milky way galaxy, hopefully one day aliens may able to listen to her beautiful song. Meaning : Teresa voice and soul is larger than planet earth.
I had a Chinese friend and the night before we parted she sang this song to me and every now n then I look at the moon 🌙 and remember her I have loved this song since
I love the nostalgia in all these comments. Teresa was such a gem. I wish that my rest of my generation (genz) could experience this song without ruining it with tik tok
Hey I found this song through tiktok. And the girl that sang it had the most soothing voice! If you want the new generations to understand older generations you gotta speak their language. Tiktok isn't all bad there's alot more to it then just silly dancing...
I grew up listening to this song despite being Mexican. I will always love her and her music. I hope she's resting peacefully 💗 what a gorgeous voice. Little Deng, you are a historic piece of art!
This song is the Chinese international anthem. Even many non chinese know this song. It is mid autumn festival or known as full moon festival today. Playing this song and seeing the bright round moon is so enchanting. God Bless her soul.
This is my favourite Chinese song. I believe why it is so popular is because it represents the heart of God towards mankind. We are created to be loved and to love.
This song strongly reminds me of a chinese guy who I really loved from the bottom of my heart. We were on a trip in Germany, this song was played by an artist at the streets in Frankfurt on the new year's evening, and then he told me how iconic and amazing Teresa was, and from that moment on, I can't listen to this song without crying. We couldn't be together at that time, and eventually time passed by and all I got are the memories and this song! Wherever in the world he is, I still miss him so much. I hope we can meet up again someday...
I don't understand Chinese language but Chinese songs, culture make me happy and peaceful .... Lots of love from India ... 💝💝💝💝💞💞 .... Love you Teresa Tang ...
Non Asian taxi driver just played this on my ride home and I gotta say it was one of the most calming and best taxi rides I've ever had. Not a single word was said the entire was, just how I like it
I'm an Indian, got introduced to Chinese songs when I lived in Brunei. I loved them. Now I am back in India from 2006, Today first time I heard Teresa, can't stop listening to all her songs, and also Google searched about her. Love her, rest in peace.
The most adored and most revered person in Chinese civilisation since time immemorial. Her talent? If you watch her or listen to her long enough, you will know. The pleasure she gives in her singing is like that of a drug or alcohol - but many times more pleasing. You will be totally surprised that a person with such a voice can exist at all. You will conclude like her more than 1 billion fans that she cannot be anything else but an angel. And this is just her voice we are talking about - not even her person as a whole. That is another great thing about this gentle woman that most people are unaware of. Her brother says her sister is the ideal Chinese woman. Can you imagine your own brother (if you are a woman) saying this about you? And Teresa's best friend ( a famous Taiwanese actress) says in public, "If my boyfriend falls in love with Teresa and went with her, I would not mind." Viva Teresa.
Yes, you are right. The fundamentals of life never change - truth, sincerity, honesty, authenticity, connection, values and universality - whatever age you are and whatever time it may be, you will recognise these and connect with these because these things are unchangeable. The only things that change are the supeficialities - labels, packaging, brands, and of course, media fabrications. When you listen or watch TT, you know that these are not the things that attract you to her.
I began listening to Teresa in my mothers womb, and was there at the height of her success. In the late 70's, after the cultural revolution, you cannot grasp the magnitude of Ms Teng's popularity. Remember one afternoon, I went to one neighbour after another in Shanghai, Teresa's music was playing everywhere. Later, my father took me to the department store her music was playing in the back ground. We went out side afterward, someone with a boom box riding his bicycle playing her music. Now i'm almost 40 years old, still listen this is beyond a drug, much more as if god is vicariously speaking through her. She has affected many generations and many more....
Alan Xu You are so right that god is speaking through her! Many people do not realise this aspect of her "talent". When listening to Teresa, many people are touched by her. Their emotional experience is like that when one attends a spiritual rally. It makes you question your own being because suddenly you are having feelings never felt before.
I used to hear this song since I was young. 2 years ago, a girl introduced me again this song with its title. We listened every night and morning since I am in France and she is in Cambodia. But now, she already got married and she may have a baby soon. Whenever I listen to this song, it reminds me about her. Please the moon bring her happiness 😊
I am from Ethiopia. I first listened to this music in the classroom. My Chinese teacher gave us the poem and we rehearsed it. Lastly we try to play together with her video (the player). I love this music, it is beautiful, peaceful, trusting, and very warm…! I cannot describe how much I'm in love with this song, it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in China. It’s just a love story! It is just breathtaking even though my understanding is low. The lyrics are one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard. I can't stop listening to this song. This voice is very harmonious and amazing!
my mom and dad have this song have this song in their cars and i remember when i was 4 or 5 i will sing/hum in the car and i'm 14 now and still love this song to death rip teresa
Teresa Teng was a phenomenon in Asia especially in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. And when China started opening up to the modern world under Deng Xiao Peng, Teresa Teng's tide just flow into the developing China. It became so significant how the 2 personalities of the same family name rules over China. Deng rules by day while Teng rules by night. Nevertheless, Teresa Teng never stepped her feet in China. She was brought up in strong family tradition that aligned strongly to the arm forces of the Republic of China.
This song reminds me of my mom who lulled me to sleep when I was a little kid. So many nostalgia and memories, wish the time could go back. Miss you, Mom.
This song is beautiful :) It came on the radio in Norway a few years ago when we where driving on vacation, I had heard the song once before that and started to sing along :) Mom and dad was shocked when I sang In Taiwanese/ Chinese and could not believe it (^///^) I just love the song that's all I can say :)
I have to agree with Original Fan and the sentiments that are expressed there about the beautiful Teresa Teng. You can make it 1 Billion and 1 fans who love her music. I fell in love with her and especially this song just last year, February 12013. I was so overwhelmed by her that I played the song over and over again, until I could play it on my guitar, still can't sing it fully yet. I came close to tears when I found out that she had passed away. As the Original Fan stated, she is indeed one of God's Angels, not only in voice but, in body and in spirit. I have never met the lady but I know that she was a good person. This comes through when she sings. In every other video that I have seen of her, this goodness that is Teresa Teng comes shining through. May our God keep her in his warm embrace.
Tomas T Tapara: welcomed to the world of Teresa Teng. I assure you that you will from now on never have empty moments in your life anymore! Teresa has sang thousands of songs and even if you do not understand each word, her voice and intonnations alone will sooth and relax you and keep you company from now on. She is the undisputed queen who is loved and revered by ALL Chinese and Japanese everywhere. The more you learn about her person, the more you will appreciate her more. But it will take a long, long time to discover all about Teresa because she has done so much in her short life that it will take years to discover. Cheers and glad to meet you here!
I'm Brazilian and I'm in love with Teresa Teng's songs after watching the film "Comrades, Almost a Love Story (1996) Directed by Peter Chan"! What a special song and special singer ! May more people in the West know this brilliant artist.
When my uncle sang this song at my cousins wedding, I cried because it reminded me of my father, who use to play and sing this song all the time when I was a child. Dad passed away when I was an early teenager. Rest In Peace Dad. Love you. Today I played this song, to dance with my 10 month old daughter and will do so again when she gets married one day.
This song originally recorded in 1973 by Chen fenlan (陳芬蘭,taiwanese singer that 5 years older than Teresa. But it's worldwide well-known by Teresa's voice
I'm Indian but this was the first Chinese song that made me obsessed to know and learn about Chinese culture and study mandarin, this song makes me remember of my childhood as I grew up listening to this song.
This song is a timeless classic ❤️ My mom would play her music around the house ever since I was really young so I get nostalgic while listening to this. She is a legend!
Every time I hear this song my eyes begin to fill with tears ... It's such a tragedy that this so beautiful woman with a voice like from heaven had to leave our earth much too early ......
