Society teaches us that we need reasons to be happy, and that they should be good reasons. It tells us through media and attitudes that the only people who are happy for no reason are nuts. It's some work to let go of limitations we have in place but it can be done and is totally worth it.

I’m halfway there I think. I’ve been with my wife for 9 years and I still flip-flop. Some days I think I can make it work and others I can’t possibly imagine staying. We haven’t done anything bad to each other, we’re just roommates that don’t feel romantic love for each other. Every other day I’ll be grateful and feel love for her, then other days she’ll be off putting and I’ll think it can’t go on forever.

I think a lot of people are not necessarily worried about the emptiness and the pointlessness of life as such, also not too worried about the unavoidable darkness of nonexistence after death; but much more about feeling wasted, not fulfilling their potential, not being able to do what they want in their brief time alive and not having the experiences they crave while they (potentially) can.

Keeping our daily behaviour constant can keep mood swings at bay. When I'm exercising daily, I've something to cling to, to feel that way daily, mostly good. When my morning is messed up with no proper routine, I'm very much prone to mood swings. Keeping disciplined life is key to not experiencing wide mood swings..

I used to suffer from constant mood changes, it was very hard to keep relationships and goals working that way. I confirm that having a good philosophy for dealing with life is a big step, but in the meantime, just having a routine, a good night sleep, exercise everyday, eat low-sugar/natural food, and write your thoughts seems to do the trick with maintaining the energy levels and remain calm in adversity. Your mood is your emotional intelligence. For every situation there is a correct action that leads to the proper operation of these planes we flew here with. Your emotions is a manual with a language of how to operate these planes based on action(mind speaking) and reaction(heart feeling) in a language you were given an entire world with endless amounts for you to feel and think your way through. You have arrived at your destiny. Enjoy your stay! And don't forget ro share the joy. Choose the right mood that serves you and your mood is no longer moodiness to others but a good mood you both now can share. Preach the gospel of good news, your mood will be your reporter of what your message is relaying.

I have Mixed Bipolar 1 Disorder a.k.a. Rapid-cycling Manic-Depression. I can go from a murderous rage to deadly suicidal despair in as little as ten minutes. I am on medicine for this. However, as your video points out, I have learned that these moods are transient. Eventually they will go away until the next cycle. Cycles come for many reasons and often no reason. One thing I have taught myself over the years is a positive attitude. I take joy in a cold, snowy day or a warm summer day. Birds chirping (NOT CROWS!!!!!), playing squirrels, a nice book or piece of music, perhaps a good video like your channel -these make for a happy attitude. I often pretend to be happy even when I am not. It's contagious. I bid folks a happy day -and mean it. When I was Christian (Mormon), I feared whether I had made God happy. Now, as an atheist, I just AM happy and take life in stride. I realize that some day I will be dead -no big deal. So one's attitude about life can frequently mitigate the ferocity of mood swings.

I have the same diagnosis. It's a tough hand to play with. I go on psychosis sometimes and I realize afterwards. I am also on medication and I m an alcoholic. Give me an advice ty.
@jeb6314
@jeb6314 5 месяцев назад
@@user-ky2eo5ll3e There is not much other advice I can give. Each day is a MAJOR struggle. One thing: NO MATTER WHAT -don't stop taking your meds! On severe days, it will be hard; on easy days, you will figure you don't need them. Medications can do only so much, but they can do that. Of alcohol or illegal drugs, you need the right impetus to stop. My dad was a Baptist who married a Mormon girl (mom). He said giving up alcohol and cigarettes was one of the hardest things he had ever done. But he wanted a family, so he did. I grew up eating LOTS of candy and swore I'd never give it up. One day I realized I was losing my eyesight due to sugar and had given up pop and candy in two weeks. (Of course, I now do the sugar-free versions.) So, unless you have a major reason, like loss of eyesight, you will find giving up alcohol to be very difficult. Will power can only do so much. A good counselor is a major asset, almost as necessary as prescription medications. Something also: in your low moods, pretend -as difficult as it is (I know) -that you are happy. It will change your mood immensely. As dad used to say, "Keep a stiff upper lip"; that is, deal with everything courageously. Take life one day at a time and don't bog down on things you can't control. I still find that one hard. While you can't choose your beliefs, becoming an atheist made life so much easier for me as i no longer worry about a vengeful god or the threat of Hell.

A mood is a moment’s reminder of my human frailty for joy, sorrow, and the wandering of my imagination and emotional instability. My Worth2Worth Theory is the quality of Rii (Recognition of Individual and Interconnectedness) by which we measure, assess, and align our intent, context, content, and the 'through processes' toward anticipated results. The mantra is simple: I Am My Worth! You Are Your Worth! We are the Worth of Each Other. In this sense, WORTH means the following: Each of us is (Warded with Ownership Rights to go Through every Hardship) alone and together and always as the respected other. "Through" represents my constant effort to claim rights I have earned by recognition of respect for my journey to discover this side of knowing the Wealth of My Worth.

I suppose we should look at moods objectively. I mean it would be ridiculous to think we can stay in a state of constant happiness but this also applies to the opposite mood as well. Life is full of opposites & they all exist for a reason to make living more interesting! I agree about the ‘lack of sleep’ issue. I really don’t function well after an inadequate amount of sleep & we all know that the weather can affect our mood as well. Mood swinging is a complex subject for sure!

Also, in quantum physics like atoms are connected via string theory and if DNA has similarities I believe this connection is translated as psychic in nature. If you follow the noble 8-fold method the Buddha laid out rigorously and correctly. Mood swings no longer occur. You step off the wheel of samsara. Every mood starts with a thought/reaction. I like it/don’t like it -> I want it/don’t want it. Feelings are the result of this. They dependently originate based on these judgement -> craving. An advanced practitioner is able to let go of and avoid all preferences. Thus he walks in bliss independent of conditions. Low dopamine doesn’t mean depression. It just causes the stream of experience to change color. We react to the color and that causes the depression. And so it is with everything.

I know I’m a stranger who just doesn’t understand your experience, but it’s possible to cut down the intensity of mood swings even in bipolarity. Think of your mood like a sin wave, and any high will be equalled by a low. If you start to take away energy from highs, your lows won’t be as bad. I focus on the highs because you’ll most likely be in a better state of mind to enact change then. Please also consider speaking with a pro about forms of PTSD as that can contribute to the severity as well

Seems more like borderline personality disorder or PTSD if it’s a daily fluctuation of mood swings. Bipolar is more like weeks of highs followed by weeks of lows. Highly suggest being diagnosed by a professional, since there is very effective treatment out there. Ending it is not worth it cus there are very effective treatments for BPD, PTSD, and bipolar.

Great philosophical content and lovely animation, as always. Just one thing: Buddhism is a philosophical tradition and not a religion, as such. Thank you for giving us these videos. x

I attained enlightenment last year - so I'm basically a 1 year old baby Buddha at this point. I can tell you, I'm not a perfect human being though, you still feel all the emotions, but inside is pure light, its difficult to describe; its like your skin feels the emotions, while inside you just watch them. I can only call it, the end of doubt. I like to joke there's no pamphlet "So, You've Attained Enlightenment - what's next?", wish there was, because its all new to me. I'm going through a kind of infancy now. My past habits are difficult to break. I'm kind of a slave to my human habits still, that doesn't all just go away instantly once you attain enlightenment, otherwise I would just disappear in a ray of light, which would be cool.
