John Bernthal is more like Wolverine then he is the Punisher. He cries too much, screams too much, and gets beaten up by lower level, goons too much. His fighting style is to just absorb a bunch of damage and then go nuts, seems very wolverine to me.
You’re also forgetting he was just getting started on crime he wasn’t fully the punisher until the end of season 2 🤷♂️ I’d imagine if we had one more season we would of seen him at his prime
@@JDFlyy Wrong. Punisher didn't need on-the-job-training like Batman, who had no experience. Punisher had no learning curve to overcome. The whole point of the Punisher is that he was already a brutal killing machine because of his "military prowess" and the video even emphasizes his military experience being at the forefront of the story.
@@barfo281 nah I’m not wrong, you missed the point,in the show frank didn’t fully embrace himself as the punisher that we all know, that wasn’t until the end of season 2. of course he doesn’t need training he already has the skill. What does experience "fighting crime" have to do with him getting his ass kicked by lower level goons, when his "military prowess" as discussed in the video have him ruthlessly kicking the asses of trained pros while he was in the military? Street goons would be no match. Your point was weak. Your defense of your point was even weaker.
Comics and shows almost always get military stuff wrong. In the show, they say Castle was in the Marine Corps for 8 years.....but he was only a lieutenant....and they only show him as a 2ndLt, but either way, there is no way he would still be a lieutenant with 8 years of service - he would have been at least a captain with a few years time in grade. Also, he would have had much more hands-on experience as an enlisted person rather than as an officer, even in the infantry. Ray Stevenson's Punisher background made more sense than Bernthal's script.
Ehh, I would have to disagree in Ray Stevenson’s movie, they said he was a special forces instructor yet, his picture showed me in dress blue’s with a gunnery sergeant chevron..At least, the Netflix series had him as an officer because the captain rank is within the officer structure such as 2nd Lt and Lt..I never claimed that Jon Bernthal is completely accurate yet, he is the most accurate out of all them
@@Thepunishermythos You mean more accurate to the comics, which still wouldn't be accurate in real life for the reasons I explained. Officers might be in charge of special schools, but they do not handle the day to day instruction in those schools, so having Castle be a senior enlisted Marine makes way more sense than having him be a shitbird lieutenant with 8 years in service (which does not happen in real life). The Marine Corps never considered any part of itself "special forces," even though non-military people have long called "Force Recon" a special force, so it does make sense that Soap would say Castle was a special forces instructor if he was Recon - they cross-train with Army and Navy at their special schools. That makes way more sense than having Castle be an 8 year lieutenant. If he was such a bad ass Marine, he'd have been a Captain or Major at 8 years, but still wouldn't have all the hands-on experience they claim he had in the show. In the Navy SEALs, their officers and enlisted all do the same stuff. but Marines don't work that way.
My least favorite of all, I just don't care for Bernthal. He doesnt look like Frank Castle to me, as Frank was handsome in that square jawed Bruce Wayne way with a bit of Max Payne 3 weariness.z Plus he tries to be menacing too hard. Great vid though. Too bad Marvel doesnt do great animated films like DC/Warner, I would love to see "Valley Forge", "Born" or any of Ennis' stories
Note to Author: As far as Jon Bernthal’s Punisher’s service goes he wasn’t a SEAL or Special Air Service, he was a “Force Recon Marine” the special forces unit of the Marines. Which stands to reason because the CIA is a collection of operators from “All” service branches.
@Byshr - No, CIA is not a collection of operators from all service branches. The military has its own programs under Defense Intelligence Agency. People can get hired directly into CIA without military experience.
@@barfo281 , with all Sarcasm…Ok 👍….the only non military personnel they employ are either politicians or Tech Savvy Computer Nerds, but they are almost exclusively ex special forces from all branches of the military. Once they retire from the main branch of the military, they are often recruited into the CIA, where they’re employed in national security and intelligence.
