Thank you for a great demo of the G45's. I have a G45 studio and I can not stop playing it, so much so that the handle has come off the hard case because I take it everywhere with me! I started playing in bands at the age of 13 years old, I am now 58 and these Gibson sound amazing! To me when I strum a cord the harmonics and overtones are so full and just like some of the higher end Gibsons.

Recently bought the studio model , superb fit and finish for the price and the case is great too , fantastic low end and projection, I struggled to find one in the U.K. as all the stores had sold out but I managed to get one , cracking buy!

How iswas the thickness of the neck? Is it easy to play bar chords on thew higher frets? They said it was thicker neck….

I might add that that G45 Standard has a Gloss top with satin body and sides vs the Studio which is totally satin finish.

I got the gibson g 45 studio when they came out. Can't go wrong . After you've played for a while it sounds better.

Love everything about it except for the Richlite Fingerboard. Rosewood ftw

yeah, its a Rosewood fingerboard and bridge.

No rosewood in these guitars. The cheaper studio model has a walnut fingerboard and bridge. Richlite in the standard.

Hey everyone. How does this compare to Taylor’s 114E????

Over 1000 bucks for an acoustic. Kill me honestly. I have always wanted a gibson acoustic but they are so darn expensive so I have resorted to getting myself either a Fender redondo player acoustic for Christmas or a Fender CD60SCE

What kind of plastic is Richlite?

I hate the flatter 16" fretboard radius on these cheaper Gibson acoustics - feels like fretting a 2x4. That is what I don't like about Martins also. All the iconic Gibsons, J45's, SJ200's, etc. have a 12" fretboard radius - which is much easier to play for me.

Wat is fretboard radius?

U onkybplayed the studio one time verses 3-4 times on the standard. N wen u did play the studio u only played lead runs. Never once did u strum the studio. Here's the truth of it. The walnut fretbiard is just far superior in sound n crispness to the richlite. If ur going to compare guitars u should play both equally. N as a side note if it had scalloped bracing the sound would be off the charts. I cant believe they didnt use scalloped bracing. N the first thing I thought wen I heard u play was Billy strings. Good job.
@bruzanHD
@bruzanHD 3 года назад
Fretboard doesn’t impact sound. And they do have scalloped bracing actually. I have one of these and I have looked on the inside with a camera.
@danielrains2055
@danielrains2055 3 года назад
@@bruzanHD yeah. The specs I read have been wrong several times. I've had to check n double check by phone calls to find this out. Had a cheapy guitar n oiled the fretboard n it changed the tone a bit. Ebony has a distinctive sound. Walnut as well. Wen u play a guitar that sounds like it has a delay effect that is the sound of strings from fretboard hitting ur ears then te sound of strings coming from sound hole. That is also y strings that r too close to fretboard lose volume n change tone of guitar. If they r lil higher off fretboard they resonate more, off fretboard. That can be googled easily. U may find a luthier that does not agree with that but most do. Same with recording. One mic position is between the 12th n 15th fret on the fretboard. That is far enough away from sound hole to not be boomy n at the point where the strings r their highest off neck for fretboard resonance. Also, saw demo of an electric guitar with an aluminum fretboard. Gave the guitar an all together different sound. N that was on an electric. Yes indeed fretboard tonewoods r very influential to the tone n volume of guitar. That is also y u will never see a fretboard of mahogany. Way too mellow of a tonewood

For some reason they have used dynamic microphones when there's a condenser microphone on the shelf behind them

Just curious because I been thinking about purchasing one and have been doing a lot of research. But most reviews I have seen on this guitar people say it’s traditional x bracing non-scalloped, but when I checked out the specs for this guitar on Gibson’s website it says Traditional scalloped X- bracing. So it that something they changed or are people just getting it wrong?

They're scalloped x bracing only a handful at the very beginning were non scalloped . They quickly went to scalloped I have one it's scalloped

I think there's a reason you didn't plug it in. It's not just my opinion. I've seen many others comment as well. Fishman Sonitone sucks ass! Can't believe they spec this with a $20 pick up found on $300 guitars. I wouldn't even consider a $300 guitar with one of those atrocious sounding things.
@switzaification

the reason is because there is no input jack.

I have never understood why guitars need to be anywhere near this price. For many people this is nowhere near an affordable option at all. Companies like Gibson and Fender etc really need to have a massive rethink about how they merchandise their products for most people really wanting to buy these instruments.
@jski718
@jski718 4 года назад
The studio is $999 for a USA made guitar. That is not a lot of money at all for it. I own one and it's an excellent guitar. These days you can buy them online with 12 or 18 month payment plans with 0% apr, so what you're saying makes zero sense. There are plenty of great, cheaper priced instruments made in the far east for people. Fender and Gibson understand their customer base and margins.

@@jski718 Your a absolutely right, and to add the guitar will last a lifetime. But someone like Phil will probably blow a grand on a phone every year 😂 and gripe about a guitars price.

Splurged on one about a month ago and I absolutely love it. I've played $150 acoustics my whole life and I finally decided to upgrade. The value is in that you will keep this guitar (which plays better with age) for many years.
@svfutbol20

See One, Do One They hold their value much better also. Phil seems to forget the massive difference in labor wages from the USA to the far east. Not only that, but the guys in Bozeman are spending more time crafting these guitars as well. I got a G-45 Studio and it was worth every penny
