Here's a new play along for The Sound Of Silence so you can play the entire song along with me 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-s40CA7vMhL4.html
I’m so excited to challenge myself to your play along track. I’ve been working on this for about a month now, and I’m so close to being able to get all the way through without flubbing something along the way 😂
This is by far the best tutorial on playing any song that I've ever seen and I have searched hundreds of youtube videos looking for something like this. Excellent
Ukulele came in the post today, already on it with your lesson WHOOP!! GREAT SONG . play a little guitar so not so hard to get my head around. going to have fun with the uke.
Lara, you are one of the best ukulele teachers I have come across on RU-vid. Your teaching is very systematic, clear, easy to understand. Well done! Keep going your excellent way!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks for this lesson!😆😁😁 Hi Lara! You are a really Nice teacher and cleari for explain. Quise decir: gracias por tu clase, Hola Lara! Sos realmente una muy buena profesora y explicas con claridad 👌
I've wanted to learn this song for a while, but I thought it was beyond my skill level. Thank you for breaking it down for us, and for sharing your talent with the world! You're an angel, Lara.
Thanks for your idea to create original melodies using only 2 or 3 strings. Yes, that makes them more accessible to many viewers without being frustrated if they play with high G only.
Thank you so very much, so lovely 🦋💙🦋. My husband is so impressed, he is already enjoying me playing this . It is all about our youth, we love the music of Simon and Garfunkel. Thank you, thank you 🙏
This is the easiest finger picking I have found for this song by far. I like how you have added the times to pick for each chord too. Thank you for this.
Hi David, I'm playing a tenor Kala in this video. Here's a link with the details: amzn.to/2XcWHJC It's a beautiful instrument. Glad to hear you're feeling inspired 😊
You are great ; can you please tell what is your ukulele name , I am looking for one without pick up, I like to get a nice looking one and with a nice sound . My Charango and my Taylor guitar need a nice friend
I’m also working on the Sound of Silence and Afterglow, love love love these songs and you tutorials on them are the best. I did sign up for your Patrons page that is how much I love your tutorials a d I have watched and did lessons from a few other teachers and you are by far the best for me - Thanks Lara
Hi Lara, I love your tutorials and the way you share your wisdom. i was wondering if you'd consider doing some baritone ukulele tutorials? thank you for your consideration! mike
Hi Mike, thanks so much, I'm glad you like my teaching style! I haven't gotten into playing baritone as I have so much to keep me busy with my tenors, but perhaps I will down the road. Many of my patrons and subscribers play my low G fingerstyle arrangements on their baritone ukes, so you could follow those tutorials if you're interested. Thanks for the request! 😊
Hello Lara I have admired your tutorials for a long time your teaching method is the best on RU-vid in my opinion, so in a effort to make my Uke sound like yours I changed my Ukes strings i replaced the high G strings that i have used for years to low G just like yours, then I looked for your latest instruction video only to find that that you are now teaching three string uke using only C E A, is this pattern going to continue Lara will it be a two string tutorial next time. Stay safe.
Hi Patrick, I'm so glad you're enjoying my lessons, thank you! Interesting timing for this video right after you changed your low G. My lessons will generally use all 4 strings. Occasionally I like to create original melodies using only 2 or 3 strings to make them more accessible to my viewers. For this song, the pattern on strings 1-3 seemed to be the best fit. More tutorials using low G are on the way 😊
Hi Gaetan, I’ve never tried this myself, however, I’ve heard about people successfully using classical D guitar strings for the low G on ukulele. Make sure it’s a nylon string (not steel), and that the guage of the string is correct for your ukulele. If you don’t already have the D string, then I would recommend going with a low G ukulele string.
Thank you Lara. Really love this fingerpicking version. Have a little difficulty with B flat chord but a bit of practice should solve it. Well done tutorial.
This song stood for so long on my to do list for the uke! And now I really want to learn it. Thanks for your tutorial! By the way…my youngest daughter’s name is also Lara! She is 8 years old. Greetings Chantal, from the Netherlands
Hi Steve, that's correct. The Song Sheets tier includes PDFs with chords, lyrics, and strumming/picking patterns as well as lesson materials for technique practices. Some song sheets do include tabs for riffs. Thanks for the question!
Great question! I find the island strum is a bit too much for this song. I would do a D - D U pattern with downstrums on beats one and two, and an upstrum on the "and" after beat two.
Hi Lara. Call me stupid if you like but I just need to confirm that if I join your patreon at $7 a month I can get all you pdf song etc straight away or are they released gradually and in your order choice ? I couldn't see any specification to that.Great RU-vid by the way ..love your style of teaching hence my interest in joining. Regards.
Hi Jacqueline, I'm so glad you're enjoying my tutorials! When you become a patron you'll have instant access to all of the songs and arrangements that I've shared on my channel. The $3 tier is for songsheets and the $7 tier is for both songsheets and tabs. I update my song book and tabs book quarterly, and in between patrons can download individual pdfs as I publish new lessons. Tomorrow I will be sharing updated song and tabs books to include all of the songs I've shared through Q3 of this year 😊 Thanks for the question!
Excellent Lara but I'd expect no less from you. How do you get your uke to sound so good and clear? Microphone or electronics? Thanks for all you do. Paul
Thanks Paul! I don't have any special equipment, just a mic that attaches to the camera. I have some panels on the wall to reduce the echo. People often comment when they hear my uke in person that it sounds like harp 😉 I'm glad that you're enjoying the sound quality. Thanks for the question!
Lara is there anyway I buy your song book without becoming a patreon. I would rather support your work buy buying your tutorials outright as learn and hopefully get better.
